My son took the test twice getting kicked out after about the 30th question, boots him out and tells him he's failed the course. Trying to get someone on their 800 # to answer our call is at least a 20 - 30 min. Wait. Still haven't received credit on my statement for the two tests that he failed after their server went down. Not sure where my ex hubby found this crappy site but it is not even listed on the Florida DMV's site as a recommended course. Still on hold by the way...:-/
The program itself is ok and was a good price. However, we needed a duplicate copy of the certificate of completion for insurance purposes and they say it expires after 6 months and they can no longer send a copy. It's been less than a year. This is ridiculous. I have more children. I will not use this program again.
Although I wasn't in a super hurry to receive the certificate, the idea that they charge customers a premium for email delivery or downloading which costs the company zilch is, in my mind, not both unethical and immoral. They can save postage fees with digital delivery to customers or certify completion of the course directly to insurance companies or other entities (their competitor offers this), but choose to make money off of folks who want or need the certificate immediately.
In NY you have 30 days to finish. There are no exceptions, even 24 hours. If you don't finish, you have to pay for course again and start from beginning. This is a ridiculous requirement for those of who work and live busy lives.
Second, the course is way too long. You have no idea how long 8 hours of your time will be until you take this course. Torture!
Third, they use a 3rd party vendor for their voice recognition. Background noise, phone connection, pretty much anything can affect the test. Fail the authentication twice and they will make you start the test from beginning.
I had a very good experience it was very easy. This was a 6-hour course but could be paused or started anywhere. The videos were sometimes long; sometimes short and then there was usually 10 questions after.
This is an excellent setup, it remembers were you left off when switching from one device to another without constantly having log in such as switching from laptop to tablet or cell phone. I found that when I am out and about and waiting like at the doctor or getting the car repaired I can continue without a hiccup on my cell phone from where I left off on my computer at home! They also cover new laws and Technics the I was unaware of since taking a defensive driving course in the early 1990's such as new hand positions that make more sense since air bags have become the norm in today's automobiles, also covering roundabouts and when it is appropriate or not to use those new touch screens found in place of radios in most new cars today. I was skeptical about taking a course online as apposed to in a classroom environment where you can have discussions but was not a problem because everything is explained in a way that is fully understandable leaving no need for further discussions.
First of all for Illinois it was not cheap at all, mine was a waste of $100. I never get a called back from their "supervisor" straight to voicemail ITS A JOKE. All the humans can't help you they can only transfer you to voicemail. I know how to drive and this course asks the most horribly worded questions, says its okay to pull out in front of a truck as long as you signal. The worst part about it is the voice recognition $#*! that doesn't work at all and failed me and took me back to the very beginning of the course even though I was on the last unit. I will be contacting next for a refund and I'd rather pay for my court fines that take this class again. Like I said I think they purposefully want you to fail, and re-take the class. Also in the 8th unit the link is broken after a question and won't let you proceed I had to wait 3 days before I finally found someone who knew how to advance me and skip past the unit.
The voice recognition software is very poor. After completing half the course, I failed the voice recognition twice and had to start over. Both times I called from a quiet place so there was no background noise. I got a refund so I would not waste any more time. I would avoid this service.
After installing the current Flash Player, still nothing! My daughter was unable to watch the course videos. And now I can't get a hold of anyone - email, chat and phone call. I want my money back and don't know how to get it!
Hi there! Thank you for the feedback. We're super sorry you’re having some technical issues! We definitely want to make this the best possible experience for you. Please submit your refund request to wecare@idrivesafely.com, with your account information. We'll get this escalated to a Team Lead. :)
This driving course met all of my expectations. Directions were clear and my teen was able to navigate and successfully complete the entire program with no issues. Communication via email was prompt as well as with mailings. We had zero issues with iDriveSafely and will recommend this exact program to all of my friends, many of who have children quickly approaching driving age. Thank you!
I did the regular online course (no video) and found it to be a good value. Easy enough to use interface, only booted me out twice when a page wouldn't load and got hung up, but it brought me right back to where I left off, so it was a minor inconvenience and might just be from me having too many windows open at once. It seemed to take a little longer than a sit down course, but the convenience of doing it at home was a big bonus.
IDriveSafely charges extra to email you the completed driving course certificate. This is by far the cheapest most ecofriendly way to conduct business this day and age. My son had enough time to get his certificate to a new driver, but when it did not show in the 10 business days they say it takes to get from California to Texas via mail, they wanted another $9 dollars to email it. We did not have 10 more business days to wait. We never did receive the certificate that was allegedly mailed. This is probably part of their revenue scam. If they can just get $9 more from the 80,000 customers they have a month do the math. Pretty good revenue stream. By the way forget about talking to customer service rep... all outsourced overseas somewhere.
Joe, I'm very sorry to hear this. If you could please send us an email at socialcare@edriving.com, we can look further into this.
I signed up for this course after doing some research and found this site to be pretty accurate: http://www.drive-safely.net/idrivesafely-review.html
Of course, I didn't take the course by choice, but it wasn't really that bad. I spread it out over several days and just did a little bit at a time. No issues.
Used iDriveSafely for a safety driving course and I'm getting charged $5 monthly fee I never signed for it. This is the typical online service scam, where you pay for a service just to realize they will be charging you a monthly fee you never signed for it, unrelated to what you paid for.
Please do not waste your time or money! I spent 8 hours on this course. 8 hours! And somehow failed the voice recognition on the very last part of the course. Of course, there was nothing they could do to help me. Even spoke to a supervisor. Never again with them.
I am very sorry that you were dissatisfied with your course. Unfortunately, the state-mandated authentication systems are required by, and regulated by, the state and we are legally bound to use the systems as designed without changing them in any way.
We include information about these systems both on our website and in the Terms and Conditions one must read and agree to during registration. I apologize for any confusion you may have had when you read this information and for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Participated in the "Refer-A-Friend" program and selected the $5 Target gift card.
It was to be e-mailed within 10 days. After over 20 days I called Allie, a supervisor, of customer NO service and she couldn't verify whether it was sent. She stated it could have gone to my "spam" folder and there was nothing she could do to rectify the situation. Don't expect any "reward" if you refer a friend.
The self identification questions didn't match my records (apparently they are getting their database wrong). I called to try to fix it, average wait time for someone to answer the call is 1 hour. Then, finally someone answered the call and said there is nothing they can do about it. So they offered to transfer me to someone specialist. Half an hour later, the waiting tone chagned into fax machine sound and call was disconnected.
I paid for it and started it the next day, I set up my voice verification and got through the first few chapters fine, when I called to verified it was me taking the course it kept saying error (as in not my voice) I called and they did nothing but tell me to keep trying which eventually locked my account. Then it tried charging me twice! Unbelievable. When I called to complained the first person hanged up on me, the second did help but told me I was gonna have to start the course again, not worth $37, might as well pay $47 and got better service.
Those who are doing the video format of this course procede with caution if you don't have the latest and greatest browsers and updated flash drives. This course literally crashed on me like 6 times. It took me 7 1/2 hours just to complete half of this course. I would not recommend it to others Sorry but this was ridiculous
Anne- We are sorry to hear about the trouble you experienced. If you could please reach out to us at socialcare@edriving.com, we can look further into this.
I have never written a review in my life. I always give things the benefit of the doubt. I purchased a drivers improvement course and although the timing and basic level of the content could be annoying to some, I didn't mind. What bothered me is that 3 times upon hitting submit of a quiz and then the final test, my page failed to reload. I kept trying to log back in to no avail. After calling customer service each time and telling them that I had already completed their suggestions of clearing history/cache/cookies, switching browsers, switching wifi, switching devices, being the only person using wifi, restarting my device, updating Java, and turning wifi on and off, they said they didn't know how they could help and that customer service is 24/7 if I needed more help. Who needs round the clock customer service if it's useless? DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM
Roxanne- I'm sorry to hear this. If you could please send us more information to socialcare@edriving.com, we'll be happy to look further into this.
