I recently completed this course and felt like it has better prepared me for the road. It never felt boring or tedious, and got the message across! The timers were a little annoying, but I understand why, so overall it's a cheap, good option for those required to take Driver's Ed for an early license!
This site is a complete disaster. I wish I had checked reviews before I signed up. Their site does not show pictures of the signs that my son is supposed to be learning so they gave me the run around for 2 days, refused to take my calls, disconnected every time I tried to contact them and of course will not refund my money for their worthless site. Stay AWAY!
I took the online class from idrivesafely.com. It is very well made with text and videos. You don't really need to pay for an upgrade to get an enhanced version. There is a lot to read but it is well written. Good course if you then want to decrease your car insurance premium.
The content of the training is adequate as it should be. HOWEVER, the lack of professionalism post course from completion is to be avoided. They are more than happy to take your money for expedited shipping and entirely too apologetic about why its late, dated incorrectly, unable to correct, etc. etc blah blah blah.
Save yourself the hassle and find a better and more reliable provider.
The videos do not play! My daughter could not complete this course because the videos would play for about two minutes then cut out. Even after installing flash and trying on multiple computers, the videos still would not play. Called customer service and explained I wanted a refund, they said it was past 30 days and they did not have the authority to issue me one. I demanded to talk to a supervisor. They put me on hold then told me "someone" from the accounting dept would call me back. That never happened.
Buyer beware! Learn from my mistake and stay away from this company! If I could give them a zero instead of a one star I would.
Hi there! Thank you for the feedback. We're super sorry you’re having some technical issues! We definitely want to make this the best possible experience for you. If you need any further assistance, please let us know by contacting our customer support at social@idrivesafely.com with the email associated with your account.
Of course I would rather do the course online, and if all goes smoothly this may be ok. However if you need help, nobody answers the phone (after 20 min they say they will call you back but I am still waiting). Chat takes just as long as is also never available. Don't mind the waste of money as much as waste of time - this is a scam
I'm terribly sorry to hear this. It is certainly upsetting to hear that you were not able to get through to our customer service for assistance. If you could please send us an email at socialcare@edriving.com, we can look further into this.
Many chapters of information necessary for smart and safe driving. Will share all of this with teen drivers-to-be and older current drivers so they can learn the best ways to be safe and drive correctly!
I highly recommend iDriveSafely. I took course at my convenience at home to keep traffic ticket from affecting my insurance rates. Ticket was dismissed so not on my record. To read and take quizzes I spent 12-16 hours on 8 lessons, but I had interruptions. I wish all county traffic courts would buy into this online system. I paid the minimum cost of $10-$12 to be able to printout the certificate. Worth the convenience. Of course I had to pay fine and turn in certificate.
The class it self is a reasonable price. What they fail to mention is that you'll spend anywhere from another $5-$30 on getting the certificate mailed and no you can't print it have it emailed or get it faxed. And God forbid you want two copies that's another $10.
The program is decent, however it seems at the end receiving the certificate is an issue.
I'm told this was shipped, yet they don't have a tracking of for this and in order to get a new certificate you have to pay an additional $10.
Making the course to be over $45 which is a lot more than its competitors.
I would recommend to use another program
Marisol, I'm sorry to hear this. The $10 fee is a processing fee for duplicate copies. If you could please send us an email at socialcare@edriving.com, we'll look further into this.
I thought the test was very informative and covered all aspects of the rules and guide lines. I found the was a lot of things that take place as a senior that you don't even notice because your just used to doing it one way since you got your license. The biggest thin is timing, hearing and peripheral vision and what kind of restrictions they place on you.
It is genuinely an intelligent decision for any driver to occasionally insist he or she review extra nuances on how to stay alive and still drive! Today our roadways are full of different personalities, different mindsets... and yes, even different people who take medications every day! No two people are the same! If nothing else, we need to be greatly aware that impaired driving may happen without our knowledge! Did taking that aspirin that made us a little sleepy impair our trip to school to pick up the children? This is just one of the "hidden" facts, that as drivers, we need to review intermittently during the years we drive! Rules change! People change! Roadways change! Sign designs change! Attitudes change! So I personally decided to take the "I drive safely" course just to give myself that extra "leg up" so I could remain a confident, capable driver!
Really bad, wobbly ancient technology; No ability to skip or fast forward stuff you know; overbearing lectures; turgid detail you don't need repeated endlessly; cheesy movies inserted into the course; two whole hokey chapters on 'consequences' that read more like a religious sermon. If you get the wrong answer because you have zoned out, they make you do the whole stupid chapter again. Its the worst training course I've ever seen. Its 2017 for heavens sake! I'm stuck with it because I need the certificate. Don't do this to yourself!
Suasn- I'm sorry to hear this. We appreciate your feedback as we are always looking to improve our courses. If you could please send us an email to socialcare@edriving.com, we'll be happy to look further into this.
My husband took completed this course and had no issues but when it was my turn a whole different story. The voice recognition system did not work whatsoever. Even when I completed the initial set up it still would not work. They transferred me to keystrokes. It would work on and off, but then of course as I finish chapter 5, I fail and have to start all over.
Customer service is pretty much useless, I wouldn't even bother calling them as all they will tell you is "it's a very sensitive system"
I've wasted a lot of time trying to get through this program so I'm extremely frustrated and rather sit in the dmv line than go through this again.
I am very sorry that you experienced issues with the Texas state-mandated voice verification and keystroke systems. In actuality, it is the state of Texas who requires that one restart the course if one has too many authentication failures, and not us. I apologize for the confusion.
Additionally, the voice verification and keystroke systems and the restarting the course requirement are both explained on our website in the course information one reads before registering. The specific location is https://www.idrivesafely.com/drivers-ed/texas/adult-driver-education/faq/#fs-q19. The voice verification and keystroke systems are regulated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) itself and their parameters are set by them as well, so the systems cannot be adjusted without Texas state regulations being changed. The authentication systems and the Texas requirement that one restart the course are further explained in the Terms & Conditions for the course which one must indicate that they have read and agreed to, or else registration cannot be completed. The applicable section reads as follows:
"AUTHENTICATION
The COURSE PROVIDER shall include a voice recognition authentication process in which the student must enroll at the beginning of the course. In the event STUDENT is unable to provide the correct voice imprint on four (4) separate validation instances, he/she will be logged out of the course and will lose credit for all sections completed to that point, in compliance with TEA regulations.
During registration, if STUDENT is unable to successfully enroll in the voice recognition authentication process, a secondary authentication process will be implemented utilizing keystroke authentication. In this instance the COURSE PROVIDER shall include a keystroke authentication process in which the student must enroll at the beginning of the course. In the event STUDENT is unable to provide the correct keystroke authentication on four (4) separate validation instances, he/she will be logged out of the course and will lose credit for all sections completed to that point, in compliance with TEA regulations."
I apologize that you ran afoul of these state-mandated authentication systems and that you feel that our Customer Service Agents were not helpful. I myself replied to your most recent email with exactly the information you requested, I apologize for any confusion you may have had about the email you received from me this morning.
Unfortunately, we are required to follow all state laws and regulations, as set by the Texas Education Agency, and are unable to violate them without facing fines or loss of accreditation. If you have any further questions about any of this or would like links to more of the information I mentioned, feel free to email me at the address below. Thank you.

I was at the last Unit (8), 2 modules away from finishing the course when their voice authentication system failed to recognize me again and made me start over! I have been calling from the same phone, same room. I am soooo angry. Who has time for this crap? I've been working on it 3 days and stayed up late last night to try to finish it and then this. I left them a voice mail and sent them an email but, judging from the experience of others I doubt I'll get any help. I will call my bank and report the transaction as a fraud.
After spending time taking a chunk of the course, their voice authentication system didn't work, and I received a message that I would lose the progress made on my course and have to do it all again. Find a program with a better system. They were very accommodating about my course refund though.
Karen, I'm very sorry to hear this. If you could please provide further feedback and send it to socialcare@edriving.com, we'll look further into this.
Their 24X7 customer support is a HOAX. You will be lucky to ever get hold of a customer service representative. They force you into buying upgraded services with terrible failures in executing the basic service such as delivering standard mails. Poor communication. Utter mishandling of everything.
Please beware that this website doesn't support traffic tickets issued by federal court. I purchased the course and then found out that they don't work with federal court tickets via their online chat support. I asked for a refund and they refused to do that even I could not use their service at all. I think that is bad customer service, especially for an online digital product.

License plate identification system was extremely flawed. It used info from my truck's previous owner, who I didn't know and had to guess answers to. The site crashed twice on me, forcing me to redo the two chapters. I paid $32.99 for overnight/morning delivery and didn't receive my certificate until 5:30 in the afternoon. I completed the course at 7:00 the previous morning. Crap customer service. Couldn't be reached by phone, only email
My son took the test twice getting kicked out after about the 30th question, boots him out and tells him he's failed the course. Trying to get someone on their 800 # to answer our call is at least a 20 - 30 min. Wait. Still haven't received credit on my statement for the two tests that he failed after their server went down. Not sure where my ex hubby found this crappy site but it is not even listed on the Florida DMV's site as a recommended course. Still on hold by the way...:-/
