I logged on to ID.me to try to submit the forms I needed to correct an error on my mother's memorial plaque - her birthday was incorrect on it. After three calls - two to the ID.me help line and being transferred to the VA, I still could not get in the system to request that a replacement memorial plaque be made. When I tried to verify my identity, it took at least 10 times because the screens kept cycling through he same questions, even though I made no mistakes in my input. I still cannot submit the paperwork I need through ID.me, but one kind woman emailed me the paperwork I needed to get the process rolling. I am highly educated with a Ph.D. And I am very computer literate, so that is not the problem. I was kind, respectful and clear when I described the problems, and the customer service people were equally kind and respectful. After investing almost 3 hours on the phone trying to fix the glitch in using the system, I walked away worn out, hoping the paperwork I submitted in the snail mail will achieve my initial goal of having a new, correct memorial plaque made up for my mother's grave. She was a WAVE in the Navy during WWII.

I finally gave up, waited a month, and came back to it. The person I worked with this morning was wonderful. We had the process completed in a matter of minutes.
