The process of setting up and using ID.me was relatively easy. The process took about twenty minutes to set it up using my iPhone to upload photos of driver's license and a photo of myself. Also text messages moved the process along. Once setup was completed it was easy to use ID.me to access the IRS.gov to start my tax return. I'll be using it to access my state tax return also.
To my surprise my experience with id. Me and the whole video verification was NOT a nightmare! All of the directions were concise. I had no difficulties with turning in photos of my documents or connecting with the video call. The wait time for reviewing my documents I do feel could have been a little faster. However the wait time for a representative to join the video call was almost nothing and the call was expeditious! This experience in comparison to my last dealings with id. Me and the IRS website and the whole prooving my identity thing was night and day! It used to take forever, with no clear answers and insufferable. Well, I'm letting all the procrastinator's and indecisive's out there know that you dont need to put off this chore any longer. Everlasting and arduous no more! Thank you id. Me for changing it up for the greater good and taking a little bit of stress out of things that are stressful!
Waste of time. No telephone support. No response via id.me web site customer service form. These parasites farm out support to third world countries and pay them fractions. CEO parasite contributed / lobbies Government officials to gain contracts.
ID.me never assisted me with my login issue despite submitting multiple support tickets. On two separate days, the AI assistant, Roy, left me "connecting to a live agent"; the first day, I waited over eight hours, and on the second, I logged in at 5 AM PST but remained "connecting to a live agent" the entire time. The system is evidently flawed—no phone number and lack of human interaction simply do not work. I urge ID.me to put the $194M funding from the GSA to better use.
I believe wait time was shorter than directly calling the IRS. Upload documents first and wait for video call, it was easy to upload needed docs and wait for thier approval, then agent had me show documents on video and answer a couple of questions. Was simple and straight to the point, about a 2 min video call.
I found IDme to be very user unfriendly. My hands shake & I had trouble uploading my photo ID. I had to type my password about 15 times on my smart phone because it kept getting rejeted. Signing up for IDme was a very frustrating experience, but I finally succedeed& all is good now.
I don't remember signing up for this under the nonprofit I cofounded, but now I'm trying to sign up due to a recent job loss. I could help with the UI interfaces, as I found them difficult to navigate.
As long as you know how to use a mobile and kniw where you keep your important documents eg passport, utility bill, this is an extremely easy service to use, and I'm 68 and hard of hearing. I was able to scan and upload my documents with ease. Waiting time for an agent was 3 minutes but it was less than that. The agent I spoke to was very pleasant and helpful and very easy to understand. I was done and dusted in about 20 minutes and able to access what I needed to shortly after. Highly recommend!
The Idme can access all state and federal site requiring your advanced proof of id. You'll take a video of your face when seeing it pixelated it's weird. Of the choices I saw available I chose IDme for its reach.
Please try to keep open ended questions. Not every problem can be solved on a pull down menu. For those Americans who have decided NOT to live in a dictatorship, and have ventured elsewhere this is very frustrating. We still pay taxes, unlike President elect Musk and his First Lady Mrs Donald Trump.
Just messing with you. I'm soooo glad I don't live there anymore. I spent 30 years in the USAF, sad to see it tank like this.
After I submitted a request for help, an instruction was emailed to me and I followed the instruction and received some error messages that I described to them. Then the same instruction was emailed to me again. So frustrated, the virtual assistance probably couldn't understand my issue...
It was Different I needed some help from my daughter to get me to the point of the verifying my id on the video chat I'm not good at doing things on the computer and the gentleman that helped me was very understanding and helpful
I was going through a very stressful situation due to tax identity theft. And was actually procrastinating the id-me log-in process. I don't have a computer and do everything on my android and/ or tablet sometimes having to use both simultaneously. UGG! Also I absolutely 'despise taking selfies, which was part of the process. Anyways the whole process was kinda cool and really quick and easy. I totally stressed over nothing.
Terrible experience. No one I talked to understood the process. I was told to just follow their instructions. Several times I looped through the same process. This application truly sucks. There is no logic or flow. This product was not developed. It is bits and pieces of apps put together to gather information. Who knows how secure each one of these pieces really is. I had to use multiple devices to get through the process and had info and pictures stored on different devices. Can you describe cluster to me? That's what it was. Even the submit button at the end of this doesn't work,
My experience was top notch they guided me through the whole process easy to follow just have to have the right documents on hand the call was quick efficient and very thorough I appreciate it now I know my identity is safe!
I wanted a taxpayer ID Pin and this was the first step. I was leery about taking pictures of my ID to make it work, but it was pretty easy. They took a selfie (had to take off my glasses) and matched so it was done within five minutes.
It was great experience it was very easy didn't have any trouble at all except with the i. D verification but we got that handle the video call help wit det alot... for everything else I didnt have no problems at all
I am not experienced taking "selfies" but I was easily able to sign up with ID.Me using a cell phone and its camera. The instructions were detailed and easy to follow.
The one drawback was at the end I got an error code 8099 with no explanation. I still don't know what it means or if I need to do anything. But everything seems to be working.
Took forever to set up account. Asks you to upload Social Security card, passport, drivers license, etc. to verify your identity. Documents repeatedly rejected by site. Had to use the phone contact and resend the documents he asked for. Finally got it set up. Tried to log onto SSA and identity rejected. Logged on to IDme to check my info and found the mixed part of my last name into my middle name and only have half of my last name as my last name in their records. Went through the system to request a correction to my name but that was denied. Therefore the IDme info does not match the legal name that government websites have for me so why have a verification system that cannot use your correct name and actually verify your identity for the website. I do not recommend trusting IDme to provide accurate verification when logging into sensitive sites.
ID. Me has definitely made some noticable improvements! I expected to be faced with the same frustrations as I had previously - sending trouble tickets which lead to more unresolved issues. Nevertheless, to my surprise - I was redirected from the ssa. Gov website to id. Me site & my user name & password (which I don't recall even establishing) auto filled & immediately logged me in, redirected me back to ssa webpage & wala. I was in.
Thank goodness, it appears the quirks have been resolved & I can move forward & go back to all the other business I left unfinished!
This is the way id. Me were intended to be for the main security hub for these agencies. Thank you.
