I applied to ID. Me on Sunday afternoon, and after completing all the online information was given an estimated time of 15 minutes to connect with an agent. This was updated to 21 minutes, and counted down from there. The agent explained everything thoroughly and initiated a Zoom call on my cellphone to go through the verification process. Uploading the documents to the site was very easy. To be honest, I was happily surprised at how smoothly and well thought-out the whole process is.
First of all, I've never had to do this my entire life to file my taxes and get a PIN to sign my return. I used to just submit my information on the IRS website and get the PIN. It was very easy. Now, we have to take pictures of our personal documents and our faces to be mapped by computers. We have to talk to a stranger, who could be anybody, and then they have your information. I hope my information doesn't end up on the dark web, but what choice do I have if need to get my taxes filed.

I guess I get the need for a secondary verification. Maybe not everyone has Face ID. However, make it painless. The Id. Me for the VA is very winded. But for other sites, it's to the point, and you get your code quicker. The odds of someone stealing your code while you are sitting right there are 1/*******.
