I closed on a house last week from a lead that Houses for Sale provided. There was not much action for the first year or so, but then the leads started coming in. I knew they were a startup and if they were able to deliver the ROI would be worth it. Considering that I have less than $120 invested over the entire time with them this has become the single best lead generation tool when you look at the ROI on the spreadsheet compared to other services. Plus, its an exclusive zip code (I own two). For me Houses for Sale has delivered.

Nothing makes us happier to than to hear agents having success! Congrats on closing the deal! We all know it takes a lot more to close than just a lead. I want to personally take a look at your account and see if there is anything else we can do to make your site even more productive. Congrats once again! John Brown Founder

Not bad
September 8, 2019

I'm pretty happy with this website. A little work goes a long way. I do get some leads. Way cheaper than other services. Couple bucks a month, couple leads. Support is super nice. Will chat on the phone and all of that. I recommend.

Waste of money
December 29, 2021

Initially had 4 zipcodes, paid $30each then billed monthly. Had this for quite some time hoping the company would at least at some point put some advertising money into getting see on search engines... They expect people who buy zip codes to BLOG to bring people to the website. Poorly run. No one answers emails. I cancelled over a year ago through email and recently sent follow up emails to cancel however they kept taking money from my account. I finally resolved by removing them from paypal when no one answered phone or support email. Don't waste your $$ if it sounds too good...

Great concept but how do people find the website to get your info? 2 zips for over a year and not one lead? Said you can cancel at any time by filling out "cancelation form." Well that would be nice if you can find it? Have emailed them to find out where to cancel.

Good stuff good price
October 7, 2019

I like House for Sale... they are different than other portals I have used in the past. The website really does try to make it easy with word counters and stuff to keep you on track. After I uploaded my picture and filled out my bio information (5 min) I had to add a couple of paragraphs about my location and about me and that was it. It was really easy. When I got stuck Katie worked with me one on one and it really made it simple. Overall, I think the website is heading in the right direction. I have gotten a few leads so far, one bogus but I just let their support team know and they didn't charge me for it.

I have been with them 8 months... zero leads... zero calls. A few months in I called to ask what could be done to generate more calls, the lady had me change a few things on my site and still nothing. A complete rip off!

False advertisement
February 11, 2019

Buyer beware. I purchased 6 or 7 zip codes. All $30 each. I've been told by Dana and it is also states by houseforsale.com that if a person does not receive a single lead from a zip code, they will be only charged $5 per zip codes. In 30 days I have not received a SINGLE lead - other than my wife was trying to figure out how the system works and she pretended to be a lead. When I cancelled the service (after just 1 month) I was emailed by Katie the following, "... As far as refunds go, we do not promise delivery of leads at any point or in any of our documentation. We also do not process refunds for changes of heart..." It is funny someone calls my decision to cancel "for change of heart" that produced ZERO leads. It was not because of change of heart - it was because of the lack of leads. When asked to talk to a sales rep Dana or Katie - I can not get a hold of anyone. I would caution everyone about this company.

Hello,

I am John Brown the creator, founder, and owner of HousesForSale.com and I have a firm belief in personal responsibility. I am choosing to hold myself 100% accountable for the actions of my team and my company, so I’m taking this opportunity to personally respond to you.

Misha, I want to first address your claim that we sell $30 zip codes. Our exclusive zip price points are: $5, $15, $25, and $35. While you do pay the full cost of the zip the first time you pay to reserve it, we only charge $5 a month until you get your first lead. This is a proof-in-the-pudding concept and one that we think is extremely fair. I see you never got to your second invoice and never got to see your price drop to a mere $30/month for ALL the zip codes you purchased!

To read a little more about what I’m talking about, you can view our terms and conditions found on our website.

I was a Real Estate Agent myself, and I hated how I was mistreated by big companies that were trying to make a buck off me. When I started HousesForSale.com, I made sure I threw out the junk I hated, like contracts, referral fees and competition within a zip for business. One of the zip codes I owned on another website had me competing with SIXTEEN other agents. Sixteen of us, all paying huge dollars to get a tiny share! Ridiculous. I despise the notion, so I swore we would only offer one agent per zip code, PERIOD!

Misha, you were the exclusive owner of your zip and the exclusive receiver of the leads that came in through that zip. I’m saddened to hear that our model didn’t work for you, even though you were offered personalized help from both Dana and Katie, including videos and basic guidance on how to build your presence on our website to attract leads. We strive to provide amazing customer service because I’ve used some horrible real estate tech products that have the worst customer service on the planet. I know I speak for all of us at HousesForSale.com when I say we worked tirelessly to help you get where you wanted to be, and during the 28 days you were on board, my team offered you as much help as they could manage.

I do admit that sometimes we do get overwhelmed. We are growing, and we do sometimes have a few growing pains. We are new still, and our team is still adjusting and looking to improve because great customer service is one of our cornerstones. We even built in a feature that allows us to screenshare and offer one-on-one training with anyone who needs it. We know how important excellent customer service is to agents like you, so we put it at the forefront of our entire platform.

Knowing that agents operate in many ways, and what works for one agent might not work for someone else, we put our heads together and built something for everyone. I know if you had continued to work with us, Misha, that we would have gotten you the leads and activity you deserved.

I would have to say one of the biggest accomplishments has been taking all the tech stuff out and make it simple to use. Heck, there is even a way you can buy a $5 zip out in the country and brand the entire platform as your own. I know that a major national portal started offering this late last year, but we were the first national platform to do so. In fact, you can do so with literally two clicks, it’s that easy. We only ask you upload a photo of yourself to represent your brand on our website.

We do highly encourage our users to do more than upload a picture as there is so much more you can do. The more you put in, the more you get out of our service. But most importantly, every time you upload fresh content or create a landing page with two clicks, you’re helping everyone else out as well as yourself! It’s something that we call Crowdsourced SEO and here is a short one minute explainer video that shows you how it works. https://housesforsale.com/zipCodeAvailability

I want you to know I hear and understand your frustration, Misha. We will continue to strive to do better and hopefully re-earn your business. I would like to reach out personally and see if we can’t figure out how this got off track, make it right, and use this as a learning experience to improve our customer service.

Thanks,
John

Don't be fooled by their very attractive website and mission statement. After signing up for their service they did on occasion answer their phone and I created a few service request cases for things that were not working on my profile. They never responded to these requests so when I called them she claimed that I was contacted but I never saw that email. After a few months of realizing there was really no value to the service (not even sure what the service was) certainly not what was claimed, I tried to cancel my card. Now they never returned my voicemail or emails to confirm this and ultimately I had to cancel my bank card. NOW they email me asking me to update my billing!

This is white collar "light" fraud, they attach to your credit card and ride you for a few months at $12/mo until you cancel. Multiply this by thousands of subscribers and you have a nice income stream until the parties over.

David, I’m sorry you had this experience and I think the best way to address this comment is to simply post my response I personally emailed directly to you as soon as I became aware of the issue. I have waited to hear back from you before posting this, but I never received a response. Please see below response sent in June.

“Hi David,

I am John Brown, the owner of HousesForSale.com. Monday morning when I saw your review, I was dismayed and dumbfounded as to the how and why a customer had such a negative experience and left such a comment. I immediately directed our team to dig into your account and find out why this happened. Our ticketing system records all interactions with customers so luckily, I was able to go back and see exactly what happened and where things fell off track.

This was a complete screw up on our side and you should have never had to cancel your card because of HFS. We have a simple and easy cancellation policy. We instituted a simple cancellation policy of sending an email request, that way it’s in writing and matches our records. Early on we had an issue of more than one agent pretending to be someone they are not (competition) calling in and requesting to cancel so they could go in and buy the exclusive zip code for themselves after it was canceled. So, a simple email prevents this.

You followed this procedure and requested to cancel on 8/29/2019 via email and that should have been the end of it. You should have received a confirmation of cancellation immediately thereafter.

This was a fluke and not how we operate, but the responsibility lies with me as the owner and we definitely dropped the ball. Many protocols have been put in place in the 10 months since your cancellation, ensuring this does not happen again. Additionally, the automatic email you received asking to update your card was triggered because of the “failed” attempt on your card and is an automatic process on our side. Still, I completely understand how infuriating that must have been.

We have refunded your money 100%. Please allow a few days or for this to reflect into your account. Again, I apologize for this experience.

In an attempt to make it right, we are offering you to keep your zips codes for free for one year and have placed them back into your account. If you have any questions, please reach out directly and I will personally make sure you are set up correctly and have zero issues going forward."

This company does not answer emails and continues to charge my credit card even though I have sent numerous requests to cancel over the past several months. I called my credit card company and they are disputing the charges for the last several months, but I have received no communication from this site. I see they answer good reviews - let's see if they answer this one.

This Lead Generation/Community Landing Pages/Blog/Listings Site has generated 7 leads for me already. Great SEO on my blogs and landing pages. Each zip code owner sets up community landing pages and can use the HousesForSale.com brand. The more zip code owners we get, the better SEO the search engines will give us.

Excellent Experience
November 13, 2019

I have been a member of House for Sale since they first started by buying two zip codes. Being a start-up and with a price point so low I thought what the heck. I looked at it as a very small investment as there was virtually no downside and the concept was so simple it just made sense. It appeared to be something new and different and I just liked the overall feel. The guys running the show seemed to be upfront, honest, and by only charging $5 per month for an exclusive zip code until I got a lead... it felt like a no-brainer.

Two years later I still have both zip codes, and both have produced leads. Now I'm not paying $5 anymore, but a 'whopping' $35 per zip. It's the cheapest lead source I have feeding my pipeline. As time goes on, I suspect that the number of leads coming in will only continue to increase. I mean where else can you get an exclusive zip code for $35. This is the best deal for lead generation source that I have found. So far, I couldn't be happier, and my only regret is that I didn't buy more as everything is sold out around my area. I'm on the waitlist but don't see anything opening up anytime soon unless someone moves or retires.
