For someone running one or a few sites to support their main business, HostGator's level of support (WordPress upgrades most especially, but relatively quick and on-point service responses too) is really helpful. The other provider I use does not do this. Maybe they send a warning email about things that are about to become obsolete and crash my site, maybe not even that. They are cheaper, but the time I spend away form my main work to fix things or get them fixed really outweighs the difference. The problems are not frequent, but they suck up time to fix.

I spent 3 weeks with HostGator tech support over my site being down and flooded with PHP errors. Instead of trying to fix my issue, all they did was disable my plugins and try to tell me that the site was fixed when it wasn't. Finally I demanded a backup be restored which took another 2 weeks. My site has been out of commission for 5+ weeks, which is insane. Any other host would've had it fixed in 24 hours.

Good overall experience. I feel that their customer support team in the Asian region needs more support training, and could develop more synchronizing on how to approach various issues. For example, I upgraded from a small package to their largest package on the same day and was informed that I would obtain a full refund from the old program. I was told several times that I would be refunded for a program that I never would use again. When I asked for the fourth time about the refund, several days later, I was informed that they do not issue refunds for renewals. I felt I was lied to by HostGator.

Answer: SITEGROUND FIXED IN HOURS WHAT HOSTGATOR DID NOT OR COULD NOT FIX IN 9 DAYS
Answer: If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.
