The penalty for not buying the overpriced protection of all the domains we own is having hundreds of off shore call centers calling you non top throughout the day. I have been a customer for over 10 years and I am looking to change only because of this issue.
My website and email went down for over a week because you thought I hadn't paid when I had months in advance. It took a week to get my website back up and 9 days to get my email working. I spent countless hours on the phone with tech-support trying to get someone to fix it, telling me after each call that it would be working in 24 hours. That lasted a week. It was frustrating and a horrible experience. I am still waiting to hear back from your billing department on how they are going to compensate me for this issue since I essentially had to pay twice and the loss of business is immeasurable.
I have recommended to Clients the Hostgator Service and it's family of hosting services. I find them stable for the most part but had a bad experience for one of my client on the VPS plan last year that it destroyed my business with them. I still have clients on hostgator but I am now wary as elevating to higher support for that last experience made me really wary.
I also had episode this year where I cant access my hosting panel to renew my products and almost got my services expired. So thus the one-star deduction since I have been with hostgator for years and 2023 and early 2024 was a bad experience and exemption for me.
It is as bad as a scam. We bought dedicated server from hostgator and we have been having issues after issues in setting up our domains. Their support guys are clueless and poorly trained, so they always deviate from the real issues by providing irrelevant and false information. They used to be much better in the past, but seems like their services have sharply declined recently.
I've never an issue with Hostgator. Simple and easy to work with
I am dyslexic and hosting can be a nightmare if the service provider only has a few services in a user account, fortunately, everything I need is accessible from one account, easy to find, and easy to use, if my dyslexia is misguiding me and I cannot find something then I have found their chat/help to be very quick, no fuss and problems are solved quickly by a polite support team. They make my life so much easier that's for sure.
17 years now, I experienced most of host providers but my experience with hostgator from 2017 up to now was sparkling awesome and having 5 websites hosted with them, literally you'd feel like family, they support you whenever you need effectively and efficiently from the first session. I highly recommend hostgator. The best ever.
This review is for Angelo who is absolutely fantastic. I'm not very active with my website, it has pretty much been the same for about a decade. But a legal situation arose where I needed to change something right away. Angelo really went above and beyond what I was expecting. He is highly knowledgeable, professional, understanding and was really empathetic towards my problems. I asked him a few direct questions pertaining to my site and he gave me direct answers. He was able to solve my problem with one phone call. I probably thanked him about 10 times, but actions do speak louder than words and I want the world to know about the wonderful experience that I had with Angelo from HostGator customer service. I'm giving a 5 out of 5 star rating and if I could give 100 out of 100 stars I would.
HostGator just works. I chose it because it is intuitive and easy to use. These things are even more important than price sometimes, as long as technical support is just a chat or phone call away. Great platform!

I called Hostgator because we were hit with Hurricane Ian...All phone #'s were changed. The girl told me how to update my phone # for billing, but most important, and not addressed...on my website, the phone # is incorrect. She said she could not address that and someone would call be back and she marked as urgent. Til this day - 5 days past - I have had no call back. Hostgator designed my website and there doesn't seem to be a way to change or edit the title which is on home page and where the phone # is incorrect. So as it stands, since 9/28 - people call and get that the phone is no longer in service and think we are out of business. I receive no business calls any more. (2 months)

Cassie A., Customer Service Manager has been very helpful & thorough. I believe that some of the issues have been resolved (with Cassie's help). At least 1 issue is going to take longer to resolve. These issues have started over a year again and then i made several calls to the support number and was told the issues were resolved when they indeed were not. I find it difficult to communicate when support persons keep telling me OK, OK, and tell me that the issues are resolved before that is correct. A lot of wasted time & hours on the phone.

Yet again, my emails are being rejected by the host. This has been a problem for YEARS. Every time I start to believe you guys finally fixed things, this happens again. C'mon. What's it going to take to make my emails work. This is costing me business.
Transferring several clients from one Hostgator account to their own individual Hostgator account was the easiest way, however the domain did not transfer over and was an extremely difficult task to have that done with customer support.
I am obviously new on Hostgator, it has been fine to date. Few weeks ago I did experience some issues, and tried to reach out, but the response never came, so I had to navigate on my own, until I finally got the issue solved.
Maybe you could improve on your turn around time, I mean it's been over 3 weeks since I logged a query, and there was no response.

Both my websites are having security issues. I had to rebuild my entire website again once, and now my primary website is infected. Hostgator agent logged a ticket and said i will be reached out by the technical person, but no one is helping me.
Support team is amazing. We had some issues connecting our domain from name.com to hostgator so we were live chatting with you guys and got immediate response every time, while with name.com we never got that & it was annoying us. Thanks

I have found the site easy to navigate and very easy to manage my corporate emails for my staff. The only issue seems to be logging onto webmail, which work intermittently or not at all. We typically use outlook or an email app which work well. Something that I would really like to see in the future is an out of office feature/redirect notice feature as the email apps don't offer them and it would be great to control those at the HR level.

A Former employee choose this hosting service and it has been very bad. Email hasn't worked for days, billing is always an issue. I have been on the phone for hours each day with no resolution. I would not recommend this service.

Answer: If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.
