Provided a list of handymen in my area with reviews, I chose one that was right for my needs and they did excellent work
Mountain Home Remdeling in Laural MD did my roof. At first glance it looked great,so I gave a high rating. Within a short time I had stains on my ceilings, a sheet rock peeling and falling out of place. They sent someone todo a worthless repair job that lasted only a short while. I have a great deal of damage I have had to pay for broken rafters and repairs to vents system. Repair is needing to be redone where handyman supposedly fixed. Yet, Angi refused to downgrade my review.
Got a good company way to many phone calls and emails from Angie's list
Told them to stop at least 5 times
I can say I did get quick response for a concrete job I was looking to get done. Set an appointment and got a call the same day to reschedule. Home advisor call me on a follow-up so I rescheduled. Low and behold. Received the same reschedule mess 30 minutes before the 2nd appointment Torpee Creek... bad business.if you're not reliable to keep and appointment I sure don't trust you to do a good job on time. Hone advisor this contractor is giving you a bad name... I'm done trying to go through them.
I don't like Home Advisor--I will seek another referral site. The referrals they offer run the gamut from good to mediocre.
Do not hire *******@dhillconstruction.com.
My beautiful new custom build was impacted negatively due to very poor drywall. From hangers destroying electrical wires to finishers not covering seams. This business cares little for home owners. I had stolen property, texture overspray on my tools, stained tongue and groove, bent screens and garbage debris left on my property. The garage was supposed to be textured too but the finish is so terrible and embarrassing, why bother. The owner owes me a refund but has yet to pay and my kitchen has 6 seams so visible I hate to even look at it. Do not go with this company. They are not quality oriented and do nothing to fix their work. See the pictures.
I immediately had 5 vendors calling my cell phone. Was disruptive. Some persisted in trying to offer a better price after I already told them I had chosen one.
Pool Company- Goodwin's Pools, Pool guy that came thru Angie's List, did work twice, a good job, also did a temporary patch on my step, found 1-2 leaks ($500) and then waited weeks to come back, to patch, said it was not a permanent fix, only temporary, I asked to get fixed, permanently? Pool had no water all this time? Also, he is a very nice guy, and said he could repair pool? Then month's went by, but he is still not returning my requests to get the work done? He Just vanished? I was willing to get work done, just needed costs involved and they only gave one estimate, for the pool closing, but none on any of all the other work needed, and there is a lot! Sent multiple texts, but we have been totally ghosted? If he didn't want job, why not say so? I have left messages, no reply's? Still trying to hire someone! He did do $160 of work, on pipes, and it was greatly appreciated, but weeks went by, and still no communications? Maybe something happened to his business, I have no idea? Just all Very strange. Said they'd come back?
There were simply too many calls asking me for my business. Not from the vendor himself but from Home Advisor.
Some of the contractors we met with advised this site charges a high premium for the quote. I get lead sourcing is a business however for jobs that are inaccurately projected on this site, the cost to the contractor regardless if they get the job or not is steep. This structure would need to be revisited in order for me to use this company again to source a contractor.
I found someone in Chelsea Al for yard work. He did the work but not very professionally. I must have gotten 5-6 phone calls from home advisor questioning me before the person even showed up. I couldn't get them to stop so I quit answering their calls and it finally ended.
Home Advisor was non-responsive and I had to find a glass contractor on my own. You have gotten too big too fast and cannot compensate properly for your growth and it clearly shows in responding ( or lack thereof) to the customer.
Contracted Home Advisor to arrange for gutter cleaning of the whole house. They arranged a company to do the job. The man came out and did a great job on half the house. I paid for the whole house. I contacted Home advisor and they confirmed it should have been the whole house. So instead of sending the man back out to finish the job they stated they would give me a $100 credit towards another job. I told them I do not want a credit I just want the job done that I paid for have not heard back since.
Too many emails soliciting business. Asked to unsubscribe, but was ignored. I finally had to mark as spam to stop all the unwanted emails.
Asking for recommendations that are paid for by the contractor and recieving almost daily spam are two different things. I regret ever providing them my email
I don't know why it is so hard to stay logged in. It seemed like every other button I clicked I had to log in again. Then I spent a bunch of time writing a review, but when I went to post it, you guessed it, I had to login again... and write the review again. I love good secure websites, but OMG an average of every 2 minutes to log in again is even more stringent than my bank!
Initially, my c. C. was charged before speaking with roofer. They did cancel the charge. Next, the payment process did not function, and I paid the business the old fashion way with a check. Angie e-mail advised me I was challenged. Won't be using their questionable service again.
I was very satisfied with Angie's List. Since it's been taken over by HomeAdvisor, it's just awful. The Android app is a hot mess. When using the "Angi" services (as opposed to picking a specific contractor) the pros basically claim the job like an Uber driver. They claimed my jobs, disappeared, somebody else claimed the jobs, disappeared, all of it wasting time and energy. One pro never showed up even though the app showed that he had arrived and the job had started. I was very satisfied with the two pros that eventually showed up for my two jobs, but it just wasn't worth the effort. I could have just looked up pros on my own instead of the quick and easy method Angie's List used to be.

We hired a contractor for our kitchen through Home Advisor, They did shoddy work and didn't finish,
The tiles are uneven, poorly cut and some are falling off the wall. The cabinets were supposed to be custom but were actually stock cabinets from China. The workers didn't clean up as promised and didn't cover the floors or countertops while they worked. Now I will either finish and make repairs myself or pay someone else because after the contractor promised to return he hasn't. I paid him in good faith. He seemed concerned and actually said the salesman makes promises they can't keep. So, don't hire Integrated Design. I guess it is buyer beware.
Have used them twice and would not use them again. In the middle of a pandemic they both showed up without masks and didn't have them. The painter was the worst. Had to sand the walls and start over again. I waist of good money. The carpet cleaners did a decent job but didn't have the plastic pieces to place under the legs of furniture to prevent rust marks from the damp carpet.
While I appreciate the immediacy of responses, I work from home during the day and really would have preferred initially corresponding with companies by email. I stated as much in the description of work to be completed but no one paid attention to that. Instead, we had people just show up at our door and I fielded calls while I was trying to work. Also, I immediately started getting more general emails from Angi/Home Advisor which I really didn't want. I spent the next few days unsubscribing from those. I felt bombarded. I prefer a more methodical approach to finding services.
Do not use home advisor for leads. I worked there for a year and a half and I got fired on Monday. Do you want to know what I was fired for? For working off the clock and for using my personal cell phone to text contractors. I was 100% dedicated and cared when not many people did. All I have to say is do not trust this company. I found out what they were really doing and I stood up for what was right, and they fired me for bullcrap. #2 sales rep in the directorship. Oh yeah, they are shady.
Great person for the job at hand. Painting. Looks good over-all. Steve even went above and beyond to co. E for the job.
I'm moving and needed quite a few services, from locksmiths, to deck repair and cleaning, to siding, to electrical. The recommended providers follow up less than half the time, and when they do, they either can't provide what I needed (in particular deck repair - I was referred to several providers who only do deck cleaning, not repair, in spite of the fact that I chose deck repair as the service needed). And then they try to sell you a sight unseen estimate for a provider they book themselves. All in all, it's been a mediocre experience at best.
It's just a bad habit. I need to find a better service referral service.
This company sends you leads that most of the time the homeowner doesn't even know they are requesting a quote! The issue I have is having to constantly fight them for credit. I have had one declined for credit today where the lady I tried to contact sent me a text back angry that I called her in the first place! She stated in her text "I was only looking for a list of contractors, NOT TO BE CALLED!" (caps were from her) Tried to get a credit for an obvious bad lead and was declined! The only reason I keep this service is so potential customers can see my reviews. I have lowered my monthly budget as low as I can go.
These people won't even give you a quote until you give them your name, phone number, address and all your credit card information.
Now if I don't use them all my information is out there yet again for someone to steal, ridiculous.
HomeAdvisor doesn't seem to be "on top" of their business. Response time is uncommonly slow, and this request for a review came two weeks after the work was done, and only then when I complained to the Jobber that I hadn't been asked for a review of his work, and he contacted HomeAdvisor did you request a review. I don't think you'll be around for very long!
