I was amazed how quickly my stuff arrived - way sooner than the estimated arrival date given. I ordered some items incorrectly and called for assistance. The customer service was excellent. They helped me pick the right stuff which was shipped out and received extremely fast. Then returning the items I did not want was an extremely easy and fast process as well. This is an awesome company to do business with.
Over all it was a very good experience. They didn't have my husbands size,but they said they would let me know right a way when it came in. Very nice professional, company. I will not hesitate to buy from them again
I was really unsure when I ordered this item if the style, color, and especially the fit would work for me. But the waistcoat is just perfect. It's exactly what I needed for my Doctor Who cosplay (War Doctor), the workmanship is excellent, and it fits perfectly -- no tailoring required. I'm very happy! Thank you!
Your customer service people are professional, efficient, and accommodating. Every ready to help fix an issue, even when it's created by the customers themselves. I spent a good deal of time as a Service Manager in several different computer manufacturers and, as I once tried to tell a branch manager, Sales might get a customer, but Customer Service keeps them coming back. I've been back to Gentleman's Emporium several times now.
The products are great. The folks at Gentleman's Emporium are friendly.
I live in CA so I pay sales tax, something I save when buying from out of state suppliers.
Shipping is on the expensive side - many retailers offer free shipping on all orders, but especially for the amount of my order. Often shipping is fee for any order over $50 or $100 etc.
I had an issue with the quality of a couple items and I had to pay to return them.
If I have to pay shipping both ways just to see it and check the size and fit - it get's too expensive in a hurry which makes it harder to choose Gentleman's Emporium in the future.
Gratefully when I complained about paying to return defective merchandise the customer service folks refunded my shipping costs. :)
I love my leather braces, both pairs. I have on the buckle leather ones now. I had searched for these since the last pair I had fell apart. These are comfortable, easy to adjust and they look great. I believe that I saw a pair of brown buckle type braces as well. I will make that purchase in early February. Thanks. It is good to find a merchant who has what you want.
When I needed help deciding if any of the men's coats would fit me (I am female and a rather slender one at that, if tall), I gave them a call and was pleasantly shocked when, after a few rings, the phone was answered by an actual human being! I didn't even have to go through a phone tree! I quickly related my issue and was given the very honest answer that, no, the coats would not fit. I would be swimming in them. I was then given a couple of ideas on where I might be able to find something that suited my needs. As someone who has worked in customer service for years, I was very pleasantly impressed and will definitely not hesitate to shop - or call - again.
This is my second vest,(for me its got to be machine washable) and was delighted to see that a inside pocket was added since my first purchase. The size is perfect for me as it is loose enough for cold weather layering. Very classy. Lots of "where'd you get that!" very timely delivery at the worse time of year!

Probably not your fault, although the coat I purchased was at least 2 sizes too small, despite having spoken to one of your employees at length about sizing. (and taking measurements while on the phone...). Overall, your customer service has been excellent, and I really do intend to return for a purchase of a vest sometime soon. Please consider revising the advertisement for the cutaway coat, however. (it really was MUCH too small.)

I have over the past 4 years ordered a number of items and have yet to be disappointed in any way with the service or the products. Just wish the customs and duties would be consistent, one order comes nothing due the next I have to pay. But that is not HE problem. Fantastic place to shop, thanks for all your great products.
The rep I spoke to advised me on sizing for my vest. Not only was she 100 percent on the money, the quality of the vest exceeded my expectations. I am an entertainer, 5 nights a week, I look for good comfortable cool clothes that will add a little character to my evening. Some of your mens shirts are sold out,when will they be available again? Purchased a pair of boots as my western boots just didn't look right for Santa, even here in western Nebraska, and I sure didn't like the cheap plastic covers that came with the outfit. I got the next size larger, a 9 instead of my usual 8 1/2. I tried thicker socks, but inserts seem to work better for me. I'm getting them broken in for next December.
The goggles are just as described & arrived in a very short time - much appreciated, as my husband wanted them for the "hot rod" season.
At first, he was concerned that the goggles did not fit properly (he has a rather narrow face) but was able to adjust them at the centre of the nose piece & they will be just fine.

My experience was wonderful -- first finding you and what I wanted. Second, the delivery was prompt. The exchange we had to make was due to my thinking I could get into a smaller size of the vest but that has been easily corrected. The actual return policy is straight-forward and I did not have to second guess anyone's instructions. My phone conversations were also pleasant -- nice phone voices.
I am very happy with my outfit, the quality and style are great! But, your customer service department is horrible. The woman I spoke with was not very knowledgeable, and it took me a while to put the outfit together (I had only bought shirts from your company before) and then the suspenders didn't get ordered, I forgot those, wish the customer service had caught that and helped me with getting the proper item, but they could not. I eventually figured it out. When the suspenders came they were a size 48 (I am 42), very long and it took me quite awhile to get them to the correct length. I was contemplating buying more pants and outfits at Historical Emporium, but am hesitant because of the careless, (and in my second call to your company) hostile attitude of your customer service employees. The quality of the clothes are a 5, dealing with your employees is an actual zero, but I could only post a one.
I ordered 4 shirts, a work vest, pants, sleeve garters, and suspenders. All of these items fit great, true to size, and excellent quality. Im very happy with each item. I initially ordered the wrong size vest and had to exchange it. No problem or hassle. I simply printed their return form, wrote in why I was exchanging it, and shipped it back, on Saturday, by the following Saturday I had my vest. I wore some of these items while on vacation starting the same day, back in Deadwood South Dakota.
I discovered this store while preparing a program for the local historical society. I was giving a biographical sketch of the founder of our 1887 school from his viewpoint. So I decided to give the presentation as if he himself were speaking. I discovered this site while searching for appropriate period clothing. The clothes are quality clothes and now I have a Victorian suit that with a few mix and matches can be used for multiple historical personages as well as formal occasions.
I was totally amazed at the speed my items have been delivered. Due to special needs and separate boxes, I was prepared to wait for 3-4 weeks. Every order has come in less than 10 days. Even the ones that say, "special order, may take 7-10 days more". Every item has been delivered nicely boxed, especially the hooped slip. Amazing!
Larger selection than other stores, prices & shipping a few dollars more than other shops, but over all more to choose from if making a larger order. I wear my purchases as everyday wear so sales & or mark downs are a consideration for me depending on who the manufacture is. You carry some items that other stores do not. I bundle buy or go for matching shirts, trousers, vest etc. Over all I am pleased & will continue to buy from you.
Answer: This is definitely a legit company. I ordered clothing from them on a Tuesday and 80% of it arrived on Friday - 3 days later.
Answer: When I call, they answer the phone on the second ring - a REAL person asnwers. Just remember they are Pacific time!
