I recently was charged around Aust$900 for some small damage to a car. I was fine with that. However, I later noticed that an extra $400 had been taken out of my credit card. On enquiry to the Liverpool agent, I was told, and given a photo, that 3 days after I returned the car, and after it had been driven on at least 2 trips, they had discovered a nail in a true. I objected that it wasn't picked up when I returned the car and that it couldn't be certain whether I picked up a nail or whether the agent did when he drove the car. The agent was unmoved.
After I contacted Greenmotion head office, it was very quickly decided that the agent was wrong to add the extra amount, and a refund for the $400 was quickly organised.

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges.
Please visit https://greenmotion.com/terms and select the country you rented from to see the deposit information which will advise the general timeframe that you can expect for the release of the deposit.
Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you.
Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you.

No issues with car or staff. Easy pick up and drop off.
We were really satisfied with the fact that our car was waiting for us at the exit of the airport with one employee ready to give us the keys. However, the kids seats were missing, even if included in the reservation and paid for. They had to pick it up and bring it back about 45 minutes later. When we brought back the car, we were told there would be a cleaning fee because of the sand inside, which was mainly a vacuum job and is expected for a 7 days location. Got charged 700 ZAR.

Answer: I have used them many times, always cheapest, always very new cars, always charming and helpful staff ( Stansted Airport). Every firm will try to get you to upgrade. Buy a 3rd party policy, and just say you have your own cover. Up to now I have never been scammed. I ALWAYS inspect the vehicle before. I drive off. I take photos and make sure I get it inspected and signed off by staff when I take it back.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
