GolfMates Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily due to persistent technical issues, a lack of genuine user engagement, and allegations of fraudulent practices. Many users report receiving fake messages and profiles, leading to perceptions of the site as a scam. Customer service is frequently described as unresponsive and dismissive, contributing to frustration over billing and account management. Despite the appealing concept of connecting golf enthusiasts, the overwhelming sentiment highlights a failure to deliver on its promises, urging potential customers to consider more reputable alternatives.

Fears confirmed
July 3, 2015

I started getting suspicious when I saw the exact same message from 2 different guys, then a different, but matching message from 2 different guys the next day. Now I have a message from someone who has never viewed my profile, so this site just confirmed - these aren't really messages. What a shame - it's a cool concept
UPDATE: response from customer service says that it you enable Mega-Wink, it can email people on your behalf... not getting a refund and not going to stop talking about it yet!

Phoney!

1. I would get emails from guys at exactly 2:30am.
2. I would respond to their emails but no respond back.
3. One guy (Hutch4) states on his profile that he is just learning to golf so he doesn't have a handicap, but his lowest score is less than 70. Boy! He sure learns quick. Golfmates can't even lie about golf right.

Don't waste your money! Very disappointing

I was on the website when I noticed a pattern. I started getting messages, interests, from members who were never online. They were never online before or after I received those messages. They strongly encourage members not to delete their profiles, in case "they change their minds and wish to come back". They use those inactive accounts but still shown on their website, to entice new members.

Total Fraud!

I never authorized an automatic renewal - they charged me another $70 on the same day that I cancelled my membership! Poor managed website, no results, and a fraud for sure!
Be careful!

I have been on this site for 7 months now. There are few members and the ones who are, are generally from large cities. Unless commuting is not a problem for you.

My biggest complaint, which they ignore and deny is this. Messages of interest are sent to others that you yourself never sent, or even viewed that person. It is quite embarrassing and awkward either way.

There are also people who can see your profile, who have not joined. They attempt to send you there contact number, which gets deleted by the site.

I have contacted them and asked for a refund. No refunds are given. They also take no responsibility for manipulating the system.

My advice to you is this. Join a reputable dating site and find someone who enjoys golf.

Worst Site Ever
March 9, 2015

All 'message' are canned responses... nobody is actually sending you a message unless they are an upgraded gold member. Even if YOU are an upgraded member, they cannot respond unless they are as well. Totally and completely worthless! And don't even get me started about their pathetic customer service.

I agree with all the one star ratings. I joined a few weeks ago and all canned responses which are always Hi There or How's it going. Thank goodness only signed up for 3 months so not a big waste of time or money. Can't wait till the subscription runs out so will not be bothered by all these fake emails.

Bogus site
January 7, 2015

Bogus site. These jerks got my $35. Wish I had known about Site Jabber before I made this mistake. They are supposedly located in Miami Beach. I'm going to contact the State of Florida To see if something can be done about them

BOGUS!

BOGUS! Women are not real. Once star is way too much! I talked to several people there and none would give me a refund. This site is a complete scam and if you give them your money, shame on you!

Actually one star is to high for this site. It's a TOTAL fraud! After you register for free then you receive a large amount of emails and interest. What you will find out is that Golfmates has a staff of people that send out fake emails to lure you into spending the $35 for a chance to connect. I admit I fell for it too but I hope someone reading these reviews will not. It's too bad really, a dating site that caters to the like minded interests would be a great thing but unfortunately this site is only interested in money and screwing over people.

This site is completely a fraud. Golfmates sends you emails from members, yet when you open the emails, they have been sent by Golfmates with canned sayings like: "Hi, how are today", " Hi, care to chat?", then they give a blue line to click on that basically says: "go ahead and contact this member".
Price is $35.95 a month and is nothing but a bogus site!

This site is totally bogus... Don't waste your money! I received no real responses until I cancelled my membership... to then receive 100+emails that I cannot read until I rejoin.

Too bad, it seems like a really nice way to meet somebody with similar interests.

Like virtually all other reviewers, I say stay away from this scam site. Go to Match.com and use the keyword "golf" if you're looking for a golfer.

Complete and total fraud. Received dozens of "interests" until I joined and paid. The "interests" stopped. I got no response from even one of the women who had shown an interest in me. The customer service agent, Shy, was in the Philippines. She was polite and obviously scripted. Where are the consumer protection agencies we pay to investigate these criminals?

TOTAL FRAUD, DO NOT JOIN. Customer service is off-loaded to the Philippines to someone with little.no authority to resolve your issue. Email message alerts are bogus, just some new sucker joining or posting a profile. They claim a "no refund" policy to get around someone cancelling. If there is one, it's certainly buried in some unreadable font.

Don't do it!
March 9, 2014

Don't do it! I am an avid golfer and thought this might be a good way to meet an interesting partner. After trying this, I believe the site sent bogus messages to get me to join and pay for their services. People who might have once been on, but are no longer using it.
When I decided to quit after signing up for only one month, my credit card continued to be charged. When contacted, golfmates refused to provide a refund... the CCard company I have resolved the issue in my favor.

Same as prior poor reviews. After receiving several email responses, I decided to pay for one month. Sure enough none of the ladies I replied to have yet to contacted me. Then after a few more days additional emails came in from different ladies but using the same phrase in the message. "Hi, your profile is interesting", had ladies use that line twice in 7 emails. What are the chances of that…. Ya right scam. Don't bother save your money.
