Purchased a liftmaster telephone entry system (expensive). Worked initially, but developed problems. Spoke with liftmaster tech, ran requisite tests, received a warranty return authorization and eventually returned to gatecrafters under warranty for a repair/replacement. That was over a year ago. Nothing came back. Calls and emails went unanswered. The few times I got through to anyone at the firm, I would be referred to my "sales agent" who had multiple excuses ("factory down between model runs...", or "... we'll take care of it." Eventually nothing. If I knew they were just going to keep my expensive device, then I would have taken it to a local repair shop. Now, I'm out the entire value. Their promos are glitzy, but you can do much better elsewhere. Avoid.
I ordered replacement parts for a gate opener. They send a receipt and a slick looking customer service email from a guy named Bill, all from a donotreply address. No follow up shipping information is ever sent, for 10 days... The chat feature on the web site does not work. The phone numbers do not lead to people, or answers. Bob's phone number goes to Bob's phone mail. I am now disputing the $350 charge on my credit card.
I'm reading the reviews and I can't believe they are talking about the same company.
I purchased my gate 5 or 6 years ago. The customer service dept was great in assisting me
With the installation. Each time I reached out to them over the years they were extraordinary.
They are one of the best DIY companies I have ever worked with
Finally got my customers gate, damaged of course. Tons of paint damage from poor packaging and worse handling during shipping. Called them about this, was the first time ever that they actually answered without having to leave a voice mail. Was shocked. I restore cars and power coat a lot of parts, this looked like a paint job not powder coating, which I have never seen peel off like that.
Having my powder coater verify what it actually is.
Need to return their shipping brackets, no label for return or instructions, and the box provided looks more like a hundred rolls of packing tape than a box, definitely not useable.
Still the worst place I've dealt with online, as always buyer beware.
Taken over 5 months to get gate to job site.
Ordered a board for a Patriot gate opener thinking that it would work in my system from GateCrafters. Got an Email from Web Direct Brands saying the part was backordered by a week or two. Did not know who Web Direct Brands was. Received the board a week and half later and knew when I opened the box it would not work. Contacted the company, Web Direct Brands, for a return and they said that per company policy they do not take returns of boards. They sent me a link to their return policy. Had to read the fine print over and over again to find the words of "electrical parts" as not returnable. If you are going to order from this shady group, better triple check that what you want will absolutely work and is the right part. Never have had an issue returning wrong parts before. Be warned.
Gate Crafters (aka Web Direct Brands) put together a package for a gate opener that included a solar panel. I contacted them after having problems with the gate opener and they referred me to the manufacturer. The gate manufacturer informed me that the solar panel Gate Crafters sold me did not have enough wattage for the package they put together. Gate Crafters refused to make it right even though I was willing to pay the difference. Even worse, they were incredibly rude about it. I regret giving them my business and would recommend finding a different distributor if you are considering purchasing anything from them.
Ordered your product in late July.
Recieved and installed. Bad circuit board. Emailes for help. Waited 7 days. Called again, waited 4 days. Got tech to call me. Confirmed faulty board. Sent new board. Faulty again. Called for refund. Delays in response to issues put me past 30 day return policy. Supervisor passed me off to CS who asked for board to be sent for inspection. Done and tracked. This all took 3 months. Now in January I have heard nothing regarding my dismal purchase.
Lost customer after wasting 650$. No assistance, no followup, no courtesy, unprofessional and very scam like.
I am contacting law firms in the area to sue this group.
I had a Liftmaster LA400 that I hadn't even purchased from GateCrafters and told Tony this when I reached him for tech support over the weekend. I would have paid a good deal to get help. He looked at my pics and questions and with some work on my part, I got the unit up and running. I have now purchased some additional parts from them and will be a good customer They also have sales people and you can't get anything close like their tech support and knowledge. Tony went way above and beyond to help me like a good samaritan and I am grateful for that.
Ordered my gate April 29th 7 weeks later still no gate.
Told me I didn't finish my paper work, which is bs.
They had the completed drawing and they took their down payment out of my account.
They dont answer phones etheir after you place a order was put on hold for 2 days off and on.
Go elsewhere save yourself alot trouble.
I bought a GTO gate opener 2 yrs ago. I've had nothing, but problems with it. Gate crafters will not help, will not stand behind the product, will not back the warranty.
When I called for help I was put on hold for an eternity. No one is interested in solving the issues.
Do not buy from them.
I had a wrong part sent with my $1400. 00 estate swing kit. Once I realized it I called and because I was outside a 10 day window they were unwilling to do anything for me. Unfortunately I could not find the part anywhere else. I ended up having to spend more money with them. Poor customer service. I would not choose to do business with them again.
Bought an expensive slide gate and controller (DB450) from these people. I think this stuff is made in China but the product is not marked. Anyway, their circuit boards and transformers fail frequently, you can't get parts easily, and when you can get them it's a fight and they are expensive. Warranty? What warranty? They don't honor it. I now have a gate that does not work and has to be manually opened and closed every time I leave my house. The circuit board failed (I am on my 4th I think) and they no longer even sell the part. Instead they want you to buy a complete new operator. The (glowing) reviews on their site are managed by a Danish company called Trust Pilot. That outfit's main function is to take down negative reviews under the pretext that your receipt does not say "Gatecrafters", it says "Web Direct Brands". Should be called Scam Pilot. I also suspect Gatecrafters writes its own positive reviews.
Gatecrafters believes that customer service is dismissing complaints and then putting much more effort into erasing the bad reviews that follow instead of acting to settle those disputes.
Some months ago I had a dispute with Gatecrafters about returning a part that would not fit my gate controller.
They would not help me. Ignored emails, refused to consider my request when I called their support number.
Then I discovered that while they dismiss customer complaints, they devote a great deal of energy into blocking negative reviews.
Shortly after my 1 star review was posted, they used a review cleaning service to try to delete it. The service demanded 2 separate edits before letting it remain posted.
Now several months later they made a new attempt to silence my review- THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY HAD NO RECORD THAT I BOUGHT ANYTHING FROM THEM.
I actually had to provide an order confirmation and invoice to prove that.
Disgraceful.
I ordered my gate February 9th and was told it would take 6 weeks, I got it at the end of July. I ordered it when I did so I could install it when the temperatures were cool and the ground was soft. I ended up installing it in 105 degree Texas heat in the middle of a 4 month drought. Also when they shipped it they contacted and told me they needed $425 + $80 shipping for the post to mount the gate on. I contacted them and told them their website says the post are included. They contacted me again and told me they needed the additional money or the wouldn't ship the post. I told them if I didn't have tracking numbers by 5:00pn I would file a dispute with my credit card company and they could sell their custom made gate to someone else. After that they sent the post that day. Below is from their website.

The gates were shipped so cheaply that there was almost no wrapping left. They came scratched and dented, so sent us paint so fix it, that's all. They only worked for a few months, and we had to pay to send back arms, control boards, and they sent them back, the gates still don't work. Our gates haven't worked in 5 or 6 months now, I've lost track, and they keep telling us they will send us something new to replace the old, but now they want us to ship everything back but the actual gates. Hundreds of dollars! And they want to charge us for new equipment, even though they told us 2 months ago, they were sorry and will upgrade us. Bunch of $#*!ing bull$#*! in my opinion. I'm so mad, I should have listened to those bad customer service reviews I read last year. WE are planning a law suit.
Id ordered a driveway gate 9 weeks ago, I was told 4-6 weeks. To date after several calls and The run around, I have not received my gate. This is preposterous. Had I know, I would never do business with these people.
Ordered a gate from gatecrafters three months ago and to this date I still have not received it. David, the manager, conveniently is never around and the first few emails were clearly the same thing he says to everyone about it being painted ( I've seen reviews on other sites being told the same thing to stall you). Stay away from this company. They clearly do not care once they receive your money.
I have been trying to purchase gate frames and expensive automation. They never answer email or return calls. They are horrible. I have spent thousands with them previously for another home.
I can't get refund of warranty of parts. Every time I contact them (Denise And David) it's the same run around and stalling. Denise said 7 weeks ago I would get refund in 5 to 7 days still waiting and some old run around. They never send all parts ordered either. Also after 2 weeks emailing them they said email was down. That told me they are fly by night.
I have installed two gate openers previously and they worked fine. One of them was from this company, several years ago. This recent purchase of an E-S 1000H was a terrible mistake. I have struggled with it for weeks, following the instructions and troubleshooting carefully. It is nearly impossible to actually talk with someone at the company who knows anything about the opener, and one woman who answered the phone, (after a long wait) was openly rude, talking so fast I could not understand her, and gave me absolutely no help. I am a very experienced home builder and reasonably competent mechanic and this opener, and company have worn me out. Don't repeat my mistake. Stay away!.
