They claim they are freeware with no limitations but after I converted a few files it stopped working until I bought a licence key
Deceptive marketing aside, the software is decent
I use the converter mostly for making DVDs from downloaded YouTube music videos.
Recently, when because of a computer glitch, I needed my Gold Pack key restored, Customer Srevice handled it promptly and with no hassles.
I am quite pleased with the product.
In my opinion it is one of the best DVD makers. I tried others without success, but Freemake was the easiest I could ever find. I only needed to make some DVDs to a friend, but if I need a DVD maker, I will certainly purchase it again. I highly recommend the product.
After paying for Freemake, I found that I couldn't convert more than three short videos (approx. 7 minutes each) or it would crash. About 50% of the time, after a long wait, it would almost complete the convert to dvd, then I get a dvd burn error at which time the dvd is garbage and I would heve to start over. Customer service SUCKS! I have repeatedly tried to cancel my subscription and asked for a refund and the only response I get seems to be automated. Absolute scamming thieves! I would like to give zero stars for this one.
They said if downloaded the free version I could convert an MP4 to an MP3. So I did that, navigated all their crap, and then they said I can only convert if I buy the megapack. Why not say that upfront, I would've popped for the $0.99 they asked for, but don't waste my time and then bait and switch. I can't trust a company that is that deceptive.
I think it's easy to use. Like when scrolling, see immediately Convert files, it is convenient, will give you a good price, 15 us will be able to buy it.
I paid $1 to remove the watermark. A week later they charged me 43 bucks. WTF?! Nowhere did it say I would be automatically charged. These people are scum sucking scammer twats. STAY AWAY!
What they don't tell you is that the 'free' conversions are branded. Waste of a download. Go and buy a real converter!
My husband bought freemake and after erase the program but they continue charged to my credit card every month.
Never got it to work. Tried everything they threw at me but still no luck. I requested a
Refund. Maybe it doesn't work on all computers.
Freemake.com - I am not of the opinion that this is a safe site for acquiring software. Bought a temporary licence for a few dollars in order to trial the software. Needless to say I realised the conversion software could not support the source file and despite then leaving the trial to expire they proceeded to attempt to bill my account repeatedly claiming they were wanting to debit for my ONE-TIME payment for LIFE-TIME license of Freemake. As mentioned to them via email I actually gave them zero authorization to re-debit my account through Paypal so either they are illegally attempting to re-debit my account or they are using a very sneaky tactic in their terms or their processes to trick you into making it an above-board additional transaction. I think you need to approach freemake.com with caution as lucky enough I didn't have sufficient funds in my account at the time for the debit to go through and lucky enough Paypal allow one to cancel any repeat payments. Might I add that surprisingly I found that somehow freemake.com were down in my Paypal account as an approved 'automatic payment subscriber' even though I had no knowledge of approving this at any obvious stage in the process. I am not saying freemake.com are a scam or not legit but certainly I would advise that one approaches with caution and read read read before accepting or handing over your payment details.
I brought this NOT free product.
It changed the extension on very single video on my computer.
It corrupted every single Windows Live file I have and I have no idea how to fix them.
The program won't save anything I do. Nothing. It's maddening.
It is a useless program, no refund, no help fixing the mess they made, and it doesn't work to boot.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND SAVE YOURSELF A HUGE HEADACHE!
On October 15, I received a notice of a paypal payment to Freemake for $9.95. I thought I signed up for free. So I went on to the site to cancel via "ticket request" there's no other way to contact these scammers but through support ticket. Today i got another email saying that since I "did not give my feedback on the ticket for 9 days thus we deem your ticket close, please link below link to reopen your request..." SCAMMERS SCAMMERS SCAMMERS
Supposedly FREE! NOT FREE!

Pure $#*! quality,
Pure $#*! interface,
Pure $#*! speeds,

FREEMAKE DOESN'T WARN YOU THEY ARE GOING TO CHARGE FOR ITS USE. THEY JUST GO AHEAD AND RUIN THE VERSION YOU ARE USING AND TOTALLY DESTROY WHAT YOU ARE WORKNG ON. IT'S A SHAME I WAS A DUMB $#*! ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND DONATED $30.00 FOR ITS USE. I FOUND ANOTHER WAY TO DOWNLOAD VIDEOS WITHOUT BUYING A THING. INTERNET PEOPLE... DON'T USE THEIR CRAP... THANK YOU i
I got 5 videos (. Mxf) from TV that recorded one of our events, the files were larger than 10GB, I tried to convert them to mp4 and I tried with many software but failed to convert them, I just downloaded Freemake and converted my files, I also just paid small amount to remove the logo.
Additionally, I got a small issue regarding my subscription, I sent an email to support they replied to me very quickly and refunded the amount to me. That was very good for them.
I only downloaded one video and then it told me I had to pay $50 and I if I don't it wont let me download anything. Anyway I found a way better YouTube video downloader that DOESNT have a WATERMARK and its free if not giving it a sponcer but here is the link if you want it: https://yt5s.com/en74
Thye may tell you it's freeware, but it's got the usual BS strings-attached. What they really want is $$$.
freemake.com says:
Freemake has provided high quality freeware to over 180 million users worldwide since 2010. Safe & reliable free software without registration, time limitations, or hidden costs. Download and use our free Video Converter, Video Downloader, YouTube Converter, Audio Converter and Free Music Player!
They lead you to believe their software is free, so I downloaded & installed it. Instructions #1 (images included) says it converts MP4 video to MP3, which is the only reason I installed it. During my very 1st time using this software, attempting to convert from MP4 to MP3, I got a message that ''Conversion to MP3 is available in Freemake Gold Pack" So they advertised the conversion I needed, THEN tell me I need a DIFFERENT program?
The next message gave me pricing options to get the Freemake Gold Pack. When I closed it, I got a pop-up window with BUY or ALREADY HAVE KEY, but no way to CLOSE THE POP UP! Wasted my time with their LIES!
