As an advertiser on Flip Key & Trip Advisor, I can tell you that these companies offer the most horrible customer service in the industry. They are now encouraging travelers to pay their rental fees through the websites, after which they charge another fee, both to the traveler and to the subscriber. There is no option to avoid this scam unless the subscriber is aware of it and calls (and sits on hold for over an hour before customer no-service picks up the phone) to have it removed from their listing. Please, go to VRBO or some other site before you choose to use Flip Key or Trip Advisor.
Flip Key Trip advisor deposit refund. Wow very unprofessional and very hard to contact they keep referring to their 1 -888 number which does nothing for you except circles upon circles of no answers. Refund deposit will not be posted until minimum 10 days after you leave and they say posted 3-5 days after that. When you call they tell you 7 days after, for me I am on day 9,45 minute phone call with promises of an email. Received an email with transaction number which does nothing for your bank, it's trip advisors transaction number not the banks. They will need to re-process your refund. So basically starting from January 26th, or Feb. 8th again and waiting another 10 days which they will tell will takes 3-5 business days. Ok so now I am trying to work and resolve my month old vacation. Help! Still in the process, should have read these reviews
I've been trying to receive keys from flipkey to view an apartment the owner is trying to rent. This is now going on the second week and still no keys. I gave flipkey $2,4000 for 1st months rent and last rent and then the security deposit. This is definitely a scam, I emailed them a thousand times asking if they already shipped the packagae and if there is a tracking number. No response at all but its fine i will be filing a law suit because they have messed with the wrong person.
I have been a vacation rental owner listing with FlipKey/TripAdvisor for many years. If you are considering listing your rental property with them be prepared to be totally frustrated with their customer service! After waiting more than an hour for the next available operator I was greeted by a voice that layed the phone down and never, NEVER came back on the line. I could hear laughing and jovial conversations in a language I could not understand. I am giving them a 2 star, only because I don't want to scare perspective renters from visiting my listing. I hope someone at FlipKey reads this, because I have no way of voicing my frustrations to the management. Disgusting costumer service today, twice.
FlipKey changed my owner assigned room from 4th floor to 12th floor. They changed the amount I owe from what the owner quoted. They disabled the property listing on line. I think that they are not treating the owner right. Very difficult to talk with them by phone. They are slow in returning phone calls. I had to call several times and leave messages. It appears that this company is driven by greed and not customer satisfaction. I will never use them again. I did get my deposit back after 30 days of calling and emailing. When I finally got to talk with Azhar Shaikh his answers were standard on-line policy. I hope that Trip Advisor can survive this FlipFlap.
I have had to deal with very incompetent staff when I try to get any sort of assistance by phone. I have received many lies from their staff when I have tried to deal with my issue via email... Guests have departed from my property months ago and have paid Flipkey for their stay... but I have not been paid by Flipkey! I am very unsatisfied with the customer service... I am fed up with having to run after my money... this is theft!
Finally after 12 days we got our damage deposit back. We have rented vacations from VRBO and never waited this long for a damage deposit return. It is a deal breaker.
As well the vacation home we rented was not in the best of shape as the owner was transitioning it from being a private home to a holiday rental. There were a lot of personal items in the kitchen cupboards, personal pictures, and even stuff behind the door in the laundry room. The house needed to be cleared out entirely and then a good cleaning.
Flipkey Review - perfect experience - 5 STARS. I want to tell you that i had a really good experience with Flipkey. We
Booked an apartment and we had some issues with our traveling documents
And eventually we were not able to go, the owner understood and same
Did Flikey. I got my money back and customer service has been very
Helpful. Same as the owner. Overall, an excellent experience and i
Recommend.
My husband and I were given a prepaid gift card from our daughter to take a few days away. The card was for $500. Our balance was $640 and was told I could not use the $500 plus another credit card for the difference. The representative was not helpful or friendly. I will not use these people again.
After hours of searching for the perfect place for my friends and I, we settled on one and contacted the owner, thru a realtor, to book the house, According to the website, which was not very detailed in the description of the property, the rent was $1850 for a week and this was comparative to others in the area. The realtor then contacted to owner to confirm and the owner raised the price to $2750! We're talking false advertising here!
Snippy attitudes... have the attitude tgat they are doing you a big favour that they allow you to list your property on your sute. Were bad before bought by Tripadvisor... they have gotten worse. I have tried all the sites including VRBO, booking.com, expedia... Airbnb, though not perfect, is by far the best. Flipkey is the worst!
Don't use them! A Scam company! I made a reservation for a european trip, and paid the 120 EU reservation fee in May. In july my mother became terminal ill, and I was advised by the doctors to stay at her site. I canceled the reservation, and waited for my refund.
Never came. I tried to contact Flipkey, and clicked on useless read how to pages one after an other, unable to contact customer support. Finally find their number, called them. I was on hold for 35 minutes. Then an Indian lady very sweetly informed me I will not get my deposit back, because by the owners request, no deposit due. And I should of called them when I made the cancelation!
1: when I made the reservation, it was never stated if I need to cancel due to medical reason I will not get my deposit back.
2: when I made a cancelation, it never said on their website, call if you want refund.
Bottom line, it is a heartless useless company, don't use them!
I booked a stay at a condo in Key West 4 days ago and had not yet received a confirmation of booking. When I called today to see whether the owner had accepted the booking request, of course I had a very difficult time getting a human on the other end of the phone. When I finally did I learned that my reservation was lost in cyberspace or either ignored because the property had been reserved for someone else, but I wasn't notified that the request wasn't accepted. Now I am in the situation of having to find substitute accommodations at a higher price at the last minute. I will never use Flipkey again.
I am a Vacation Rental Owner. My Guest was booked through FlipKey to stay at my condo on Maui. When Maui imposed a 14 day quarantine we moved her dates. Then the quarantine was continued and FlipKey said if I gave proof that I gave her a refund, they would refund both our fees. I sent her a check for the refund and she sent them a copy of the front and back of the check, they are still refusing to refund. I am taking my properties off this site. I do not like my Guests to be treated like this.
Scammers! I booked a house on Flipkey in Mexico and paid the deposit. A week later I received an email saying my booking had been cancelled because I hadn't paid the balance. When I tried to, pay the balance the booking had been cancelled. I booked another house with another company because it was getting close to my flight, and flipkey would not refund all of my deposit as there was a hefty cancellation fee. I called my bank to reverse the transaction on my visa but they had already refunded me a small portion, so my bank said they couldn't do anything. They obviously know the tricks to getting rich using fraudulent measures. Don't use these people they scam you. My husband and I were unemployed all of last year and this was the first vacation booked. We don't have this kind of money to throw away. I hope they are happy ripping off people.
Unfortunately my experience is very negative. I have tried and tried as a paying client to reach customer service and talk to someone directly... it is IMPOSSIBLE. Our CURRENT problem for over one year now has been what the site is saying our percentage is in replying to potential guests. It is in reality 100%. But 33 % is now displayed and what everyone who looks at our place is actually seeing! When I try to contact I receive a GENERAL email that they are sending everyone... that they are looking into it BUT it is NEVER solved. Amazingly ignorant and they take 100s of dollars every year from customers! So Angry.
You cannot contact the owner and the owner cannot contact the potential guests until after paying for the booking. This is not appropriate for owners of a high end home. There is no way to discuss special needs and price discounts with the block on all contacts. I received a threatening email that if I tried to contact the guest again, I would be blocked from the site. Well, I hope that I am blocked, in fact, I do not want my home listed on that site and thought that I had removed it a long time ago. I use VRBO exclusively as a home owner because I like communication with my guests before they arrive. I rate Flip Key as USELESS waste of time.
Can anyone help me? I am trying to contact flipkey about their stupid calendar and why I cannot show on calendar why guests cannot leave on a set day then new guests arrive on the same day.? Very frustrating. Do I have to call them in US what a hassle.
Email *******@aapt.net.au
I have 2 listings with them, they say they charge 3%. The total for the booking was $2509. I was to receive $2200. Where is the $300? The 3% fee was $113. I have tried to email them several times, they say I have to pay the 3% fee, and the guests fee which I don't know what that is, and they collect my taxes I think. Why and I paying both fee's. AND, they don't let you communicate with the guest until they book. So, I may get 5 - 18 yr old males wanting to rent my condo which I don't rent to under 25. No way to screen
We rented a property through FlipKey last weekend, and when we arrived we discovered most of the amenities promised weren't there, the property was filthy, the outside was trashed, and the owner was completely unresponsive. We call FlipKey and they assured us they would deal with the situation, and get back to us the next day. They didn't. Nor did they the next four times, over the next four days we called. Each time we were told a specialist was working on the case and would call us. Obviously a stalling tactic. I tried to post a review on TripAdvisor to warn future renters, because of course FlipKey is continuing to profit off this substandard property, but TripAdivsor won't post my review. Pretty sketchy. I would strongly suggest not booking through either of them.
Answer: If you do, you will loose all previous phone numbers and email address from previous inquiries. Flipkey will raise the rental rate paid by potential guests. In my case rents went from $3500 for a week to over $4,000.00 making my property no longer competitive. Service worked great up until a couple years ago. Subscription fees were raised annually, inquiries were dropping, and bookings were dropping. I contacted Flipkey yesterday and they said they are prioritizing free listings since Flipkey collects a healthy booking fee. Said their plan is to discontinue annual subscriptions. Convinced me that free listing will be best for me and they are going to credit my prorated annual subscription. After doing this, 330 previous inquiries phone and emails were gone! Make sure to capture previous contact info or you will loose it.
Answer: I list my property with Flipkey and VRBO. I finally got my first booking through Flipkey but the folks canceled because Flipkey charged them $300. VRBO's fee would have been $120. I would suggest going to VRBO. Looking at the rest of these reviews, it looks like a crappy company.
FlipKey has a rating of 2.1 stars from 139 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with FlipKey most frequently mention customer service, trip advisor and cancellation fee. FlipKey ranks 141st among Vacation Rentals sites.
