“My ticket to South Carolina was cheap”

Virginia W.
1/18/21

I travel once in every two months! So last month I selected South Carolina for my solo tour. I needed cheap airfare tickets and was browsing the internet. Though there were many offers, but the discounted deal that this website provided me with, is the one that I was attracted to the most. It had the cheapest price with no hidden costs. This deal went perfect with my budget tour plan. Thank you so much.

“Flight London to Vancouver”

Walija C.
1/4/22

My flights from London to Vancouver were cancelled in 2020 because of covid and I was told a voucher would be valid for future use. After literally hundreds of emails I managed to secure flights the following summer for the same trip, however Faregeek told me it would not be the direct flight that I originally bought -I would have to stopover in Calgary before travelling on to Vancouver. I didn't want to do this, so said I would just use the portion to go to Calgary and not wait for a connecting flight to Vancouver. The company are now trying to claim £259 for a change of route even though it was due to them not being willing to uphold the original direct flight which my voucher was for - all I did was not want to use the second flight -this was cheaper for them. They didn't charge this extra at the time, but today contacted me out of the blue, nearly 6 months after I got home, demanding payment. When I told them I would not be paying a random person calling me over the phone, 6 months after the service was delivered, they said they were going to make sure all airlines block me from flying with them. As funny as it is that this company thinks it holds the power to do this, as only the Government do, others may well have felt bullied into paying the money. Avoid this company at all costs.

They charged me a different amount on credit card and wouldn't refund extra money through same credit card; rather they want to know bank account number. Sounds fishy

Hello, I booked a round-trip ticket from London to Albuquerque this morning. I received two emails from Faregeek: One that states a flight reservation number and another that states an airline confirmation number and then a different flight reservation number. Although I received these two emails, it seems I'm still waiting for my e-tickets. Please advise. Thank you!

The website advertised a certain price and the confirmation I received after making the booking matches this price; however, after checking my bank account, I realised I was charged more than this. I've never had this happen to me when making a booking. Please advise.

My credit card info was stolen the night after using this site. The bank notified me immediately to ask if i would authorize hotel stays and a few watch purchases in California. Pfft. Im in Texas! The representative said this never happens and there must have been a leak somewhere, sometime from their site this weekend. It seemed really sketchy because I hadn't yet let the customer rep know I was even accusing faregeek. He kind of freaked out and said, "oh there must have been a leak, is this your number, we will call you back immediately." I didn't have any fraudulent purchases actually made, because of the bank's security, but it was really scary knowing someone got my info from this site. I don't know. I might try to use them again for the cheap flights, but only because of my bank's security.

After I did my booking and received a confirmation email for my ticket, they sent me another email, when they asked for credit card details. Has this happened to anyone before? What did you do and if you don't send to them the information what happens to the flight?

I saw a flight that was £497 on faregeek – all other sites had prices of £890 or more. After reading some of these reviews I thought I would ring before booking as it seemed too good to be true. I spoke with a consultant and asked him about the fare. He said the only fares they had in the system for my route were £954. I asked why the site still says £497 if this is not the price. He explained to me that they do hold limited inventory at the lower prices, but then it takes a while for the prices to update on their website once the cheap flights have sold out. I said that's funny, because I thought the internet was instant, I don't think he got my jokes.

Anyway, point being, the prices are real, initially, they will have limited flights at lower prices, I'm guessing to fill empty flights. But then this stock sells quickly and they will let you buy online at the ‘lower' price even when they don't have that stock available. Be smart – call first and ask them if they have availability at the cheaper price, then book. Hold time was only 10 minutes – which is not too bad. They guy on the phone was a $#*!, but I did get my answer.

I bought tickets from Faregeek and for a full day, didn't know whether the booking happened or not. It looked as if these guys shared my Credit Card details with a third party and they booked tickets by hand. They give us the option to choose seats but none of my choices were shared with the airline as I observed 10 days later. I had to manually log in and reupload my needs to airline then. All the better seats (Accessible) are gone and got a crappy position. When I emailed customer care asking why, their response was, "We would like to inform you that for seat selection or seat preference, you need to contact the airline directly or visit the airline website." I wonder why I gave all this information on their website in the first place and why they didn't mention it in any prior communications is beyond me.

Tip for consumers:
Do not use.

I booked a round trip with them and then they sent me an email saying that the ticket was not issue because the airlines the used did not have an agreement and the fare changed because of a glitch in their system. They wanted to charge me 300 dollars more, and, of course, I declined "their offer".

They do not hold up to what they sell to you.

I had no problems booking my ticket. I did get an email telling me that they will verify the credit card etc. Then I got another email with the flight confirmation. So far all ok.
Here's where my problem lays. I checked the same flight again and the price dropped $198.68 CAD. I called Fare Geek and they will not honor it. There is only a 24 hr window and it is something you have to purchase for 15.00 He actually said to me. If the price went up we don't raise it. I told him about CheapAir. He didn't believe me. I told him last year I used Cheap Air. They will honor a price drop. I didn 't use them this year as their prices are in USD
I contacted the airline to see if they will do something for me.
So FareGeek I will NEVER use your site again.

Hello. Not long ago I posted a review based upon my interaction with a FareGeek representative after booking a flight to the UK. Well, I've just returned and wanted to update my review. Like many people, I didn't check the reviews of FairGeek until after I had booked my ticket. Needless to say, I was EXTREMELY anxious that my tickets would be canceled; that anxiety lasted until I was actually on the flight and flying over the Atlantic Ocean. Here's my experience: I thought I was booking through another website, but I was actually redirected to FairGeek. I found a flight that was about three hundred dollars less than the price offered at the airline's website, so I booked it. Having had experience with e-tickets before, I expected all of my flight details and confirmation almost immediately. When I hadn't received it after 24 hours, I called FairGeek. Unlike many other users, I was able to speak with a representative fairly quickly (not more than 10 minutes waiting). Although he was dismissive and condescending, he assured me that my e-ticket information would be sent to me e-mail by that evening. It actually didn't arrive for another 24 hours. When it did, I noticed that the amount on the receipt was about $6 less than what I was actually charged. It's not a big deal, and I didn't dispute it then because I didn't want to jeopardize my reservation. I did, however, immediately call the airline and verified the flight information. At that point, I was quite relieved; however, that relief was short-lived after reading more reviews at this site. I called the airline again and asked if there was any way that FairGeek could cancel my reservation without my approval. To my surprise, the agent told me Yes, FairGeek could cancel my reservation if they had certain personal information (my birthdate, which I had given when I made the reservation). So, I worried and worried all the way up until the day of my flight. Much to my relief, when I arrived at the airport to check-in, my reservation was still valid. I flew to the UK and back without any problems whatsoever. If I had it to do all over again, I would definitely book directly with the airline instead. The grief and worry was not worth the few hundred dollars I saved. Finding out that FairGeek could have canceled my reservation at their whim and seeing that they had done just that with so many others caused too much unwanted stress. My original rating of 2 stars still stands because, even though they came through for me, they still overcharged me and the customer service representative with whom I spoke was in serious need of customer service training.
