Scam
April 15, 2016

I just got a call from them out of Las Vegas saying I had CDs interested in me but that my profile wasn't up to date. I never remember signing up for this. They had an address from 10 years ago in their system... I never even agreed to sign into "my profile" and instead told them I didn't recognize them as a legitimate business and refused to do so referring to identity theft and scams. They didn't bother trying to call back thank goodness!

In addition, they asked if I have ever "done any acting." If they were really concerned, they could have looked up my IMDB profile. They said I could be making up to $xxx a day... I'm a SAG-AFTRA actor and that number was ridiculously low. Lol, red flags left and right!

I really needed to laugh as hard as I did, when ET texted and called me 3 times tonight, to tell me that a casting director wanted me to come and audition for them in a nearby town. This nearby town gives new meaning to the words "small town". It has two traffic lights and 1 grocery store... And oh, a feed/ farm store! I was like, are you SERIOUS!? That is hilarious! No casting director would actually come here for anyone! Especially since the San Diego film commission went out of business years ago!
DO NOT GIVE THESE D-BAGS YOUR MONEY! I've fallen for their cheap "renewal" charges a few times, and last year told them I'm not giving you a dime until you CAN PROVE you're not a scam-- naturally, no results... But it sure makes a girl feel good when I hear that all these agents are dying to have me audition for them! Woow! LMAO for real.

Explore Talent Scam
April 9, 2016

I got a call last night from a number I didn't recognize out of Las Vegas. The caller left a message, plus sent a text message and an email to me. The message was from someone saying they were with Explore Talent, and that a casting director had seen my profile on their site, and was considering me for a speaking role in the new movie, "Fast and Furious 8". BUT, before I could be cast, I had to pay over $400 to re-new my membership with ET. I had a temporary loss of reason, and gave them my credit card info... only to read so many reviews of these guys, and see that they are a scam. I have since cancelled the transaction, and the card. Don't fall for their promises, and pressure to pay!

FILTHY SCAMMING CON ARTISTS LIKE NINE9/ONE SOURCE.
The 3-4 positive reviews are from PAID ACTORS. And just like Brennen Cooper in nine9, all the calls people get are by paid actors, if you make the mistake of going or paying, it will be a waste of time and money. When "Kathy" called me saying I have an audition, I was reading reviews while she was on the phone and just hung the $#*! up on her sad little $#*!. Don't do it.

More bolony...
March 29, 2016

Girl from las vegas kept calling me trying to talk me into joining after I posted some pics and a profile. Her persistance was the red flag that kept me from joining. Then her last call, I told her if the casting director wanted me bad enough, he was just email me, guess what? She hung up on me.

Now someone called about the fast and furious 8, but I still didn't buy it. I'm just using their site to test my profile and pics and maybe meet some nice folks who share the same acting interest. Thanks explore talent for the free advertisement ;)

Do NOT sign with ET
March 18, 2016

One star is too much for Exolore Talent. DO NOT SIGN WITH EXPLORE TALENT! I filled out their forms and a few weeks later received an email stating that a hair modeling company in Atlanta, GA, had requested me specifically for their gig. I was told to call Explore Talent for what to do next. My mother and I called them (I am a minor so she had to be present) and the first 2 times I called my "talent agent" was in a meeting. Then they called me back and we started asking questions. First of all, the man answering was PAINFULLY SCRIPTED and had no idea what he was talking about. He started listing off auditions in NYC, New Mexico, & Texas. I live in Tennessee so obviously I was very confused. Then he said there was a singing audition (I specifically stated that I could not sing) and an audition for a middle age, African American male. I am a Caucasian, highschool aged, female. He had no idea what was going on and completely ignored our questions. He began asking for money and that's when I knew what was going on. No legitimate agency asks for money before you even look at an audition! THIS IS A SCAM!

Low and behold EVERYONE is getting the same phone call about their being profile matching roles for the up coming films, Bay Watch staring Zac Efron and Furious 8 with Vin Diesal. I had made an account with this company back in 08, so theres no way that they would think that I still looked like that ( it was an amazing pic and I was pretty hot)so I may have believed him if I still looked like that but seriously that was 8 yrs ago. Anyways I got the same run down about how they could help me with my career... blah blah... the guy was really nice I must say. I did inform him that when I did use the site back then, it did nothing for me. I would submit for anything that I felt was rite for me and I never got called for anything, plus I have been acting for 10 yrs ( I am SAG- AFTRA) and I am also on the production side of the film industry also and told him that I really didnt find their site useful. After a 15 min conversion he finally got around to the whole pricing thing. 3, 2, 1 yr... the lowest being 288 or something. During our talk my phone kept going in and out because I get bad signals in my apt so rite when he was so which one would you like to choice... guess what did you guess my phone crapped out and I lost signal... LMAO. He did call back later and left a message. Oh he did mention that I could check with the Better Business Bureau. Point is I used to use their site with no results, to which its why I stopped using it. I would like to know if anyone has REALLY benefited from using them.

Explore Talent is a very nice example of a rip off.

Is it a full blown scam? No, they have real casting calls and events listed.

I have been in numerous acting classes and modeling classes over the years and the first thing they always say, and repeat very often, is that you should NOT PAY ANYTHING for an audition (or agent- but that's a different story), auditions are free to go to, and any place asking for money to let you audition is a scam and should be avoided

I had signed up for ET when I was in middle school, eight years ago. And then about five years ago, I had gotten a text, out of the blue, saying that Modern Family had a casting director looking at my page (which was so out-of-date it was hilarious) and in order for me to submit my profile for further consideration, I had to call this certain number and jump through a number of hoops. I, being only sixteen at the time (really this should have been illegal), thought 'this is my big chance! I can get discovered!' fell into the trap. I had my own bank account and easily paid the 'haggled down' price, which was still a hundred bucks a year, and started submitting my picture to everyone.
Then the next year came, I suddenly got wise and tried to cancel my account. Got some very not-so-kid-friendly words from the lady on the phone, and I said some not-so-kid-friendly words right back. To this very day, I still get texts (I never gave them the OK to text my damn phone) saying that casting directors have glanced at my very old profile.

To good to be true
February 12, 2016

Because it's not true. I received a call for a non speaking part and that the casting director wanted me. Then she wants to send my booking number to the director and says I'm not registered. Hah. She quotes me the 1,2 and 3 year rates. I laugh. She then says she received this morning a special rate for 6 months at $188.75. Not gonna do it not gonna do it.

I was in middle school when i made that profile. They had my old address. My old home phone number. Everything. They contacted me saying my pictures match what they are looking for for a zac efron and dwayne johnson movie but all they need is 288 dollars. But i need to make a decision to pay the membership today or she has to move on. I wasnt prepared to pay that for a maybe interview. When i said i'll have to think about it she got rude with me saying she can find someone else for the role. But if that was the case why did you search through a 7 year old account and call me about this? Clearly they need more people to scam. Theres no way they can be serious about my picture matching what they want. I looked ratchet in middle school. Ive graduated college since then. They have no idea what i look like now. I'm not stupid. Nice try though

AVOID IT
February 9, 2016

Its funny because I have been a pro member and got no rule all month long but as soon as my account was gonna expire and automatic payments didn't go through because there was no money in the account, I was called that a casting director needs me in a role "Jack Reacher 2" and got a second call saying that " Oh your subscription expired and the casting director rejected you for the role, but if i pay $288 for one year I can still get the role back.

I am not a total dummy and I know when something don't seem right. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND HELP A HOMELESS PERSON WITH YOUR MONEY AND I BELIEVE YOU WILL HAVE MORE PEACE OF MIND KNOWING YOU HELPED A HOMELESS PERSON RATHER THAN PAYING FOR EXPLORE TALENT BECAUSE ITS A COMPLETE WASTE.

I agree, Scam
February 4, 2016

Now I see they're trying to actually change their name to Tech9, I started paying at the age of 17 when I started working and stopped paying at the current age of 19. Companies like these often change their name to hide their past identity. I've gotten a chance for being an extra from Catrette Casting, and learned this from other experienced background actors. If you have to pay for anything, most likely it's scam. I've been using Model Mayhem and been connected with a website where it sends you information on great opportunities, here's the link: http://www.auditionsfree.com/
And with Model Mayhem, you can do trade offs first to build your portfolio. You can also find jobs there. I have the free plan, because I don't see the point in spending more money. However, if you're trying to get into the acting industry it is advised to look up agents. You can do trade offs for head shots and sign up for agents. A real agent will be blunt with you and they will call you, you don't ever pay them because they get a percentage of the profit, so their job is to look for the jobs for you. I hope this might have helped some people out there. And those good comments? Yeah, I see the pattern of the wordings and their default pictures. Logically connecting the dots, they were paid people to post those comments. Better safe than sorry!

I received a phone call so I returned the message that I too was chosen by the cast or coordinators of Jamie Foxx's new movie baby driver they hand picked me from my profile which is probably over 8 years old and I didn't even recall it so I asked what agency they were from and they told me and I asked if she could email me my profile due to the fact it was so old that I would like to update it because I know I cancelled my email then 8 years ago and I get switched from channel to channel to be told that she couldn't submit my application because my membership fees were due now this is after I asked her when the movie supposed to start and she said she had no idea and then now she tells me there's a deadline by tonight to submit all applications her whole story from the 1st to the 2nd was night and day... bull$#*!! So I go online and do a Google search real fast about exploretalent.com and see all of these listings saying it's a scam and I tell her that and thank her for her time and say goodbye... Click
