I quit that scamming company a couple of months ago. Its a huge scamming scheme that has been going for years already. By the way, dont let yourself be mistaken by the "positive" fake reviews that you read, all of them are written by the sales manager (ram luzada) and his army of philipin minions. Im going to point out some of their tactics:
1. The company is not in USA (as they claim to be). If you ask for the adress, they will give you the location of a baker store in las vegas, the actuall company is in Cebu, Philipins.
2. They provide fake castings. Most of their castings are fake or have already expire. However, they will send mass SMS to people saying that a forever 21 campaign wants them for their next printshoot, or the next spiderman 3 movie wants you as an extra. Obviusly its all a bunch of crap.
3. Most of the casting directors dont even know that their castings are being posted on that $#*!ty website. They just copy casting alerts from any part of the internet (even facebook) and post them on the website as if one od the casting directors did it.
4. After you pay for the useless membership, you wont hear from them again, only until its time to renew again, and they will try to contact you saying that "you have miss a lot of audition oportunities".
5.The scammer agents such as william price or maxie powers will lie to you. They will tell you anything you want to hear so that you buy their scam " a casting director wants you to audition for them, they will pay for transportation and acomodation fees, i will be your agent and i will do everything for you". Watch it, their just a couple of low life philipinos playing to be sales agents.
6. When training their scamming agents, most of the training cosisted on explaining us why explore talent "isnt a scam". Even the agents know the scam that is behind this.
7. They will try to hook you up with fake castind director invitations. They literally send those to everyone. I myself when i was an employee could send them, pretending i was a casting director myself.
8. If you fall for their scam, remember that you can call and ask for a full refund.
9. These people only pray on peoples hope to be an actor or model. They will literally tell you anything to make you believe you can make it into this industry. I garantee you: NO ONE HAS EVER GET ANY REAL AUDITION in scam talent (explore talent).
I hope this review prevents a lot of people of giving your hard earn money to this philipinos piece of $#*!. From my end, i will do anything withing my reach to bring this scammers down.
I hope you are reading this Ram Luzada (sales manager) and Michael cook (CEO), your time is coming.
Dont use it, sue them instead
So I received a call from Las Vegas, Nevada and decided to listen to the voicemail. It was a recording of a lady saying they were looking for talent and needed to know pretty soon if I was going to audition. I decided to call the number back to find out who "they" were. An actual lady answered the phone and reminded me I signed up on Explore Talent's website with my email and phone number (which I regret) and started telling me what it was about and congratulated me telling me I was 1 out of 20 in my area to be chosen for a part in the new Avengers movie. She said casting directors had personally looked at my online profile and needed me in four weeks to audition for a speaking role which would pay a high amount of money a day. It started out all well and good until she started mentioning how I needed to pay money to register so I could be considered for a role... that's when it started sounding fishy to me. I told her I would think about it and that I needed to go since I had class in about ten minutes; well then, she started becoming very persistent and told me she needed an answer right then and there because she was meeting with the casting directors within an hour. I told her they were the ones to call me that day and shouldn't expect an answer from me right away, but she told me I was the last of the 20 to register and that they needed it. I then proceeded to tell her I needed to talk to my parents about it (not really because I knew it was a scam by then, but I was trying to be nice), but she said she needed an answer right away. I told her I would call her later that day with an answer, but she insisted that I call her within an hour. I told her it wasn't possible because of class and other obligations, but she wouldn't quit. After telling her AGAIN that I needed a second opinion and how important it was for me to do so, she literally said, "But aren't you old enough to make your own decisions, and isn't this your dream?"... I decided not to be nice anymore and after she wouldn't let me hang up, I said, "IF YOU WANT ME THAT BAD, YOU'LL WAIT FOR ME." She completely changed her mood and kind of had a rain check because she very compliantly said, "okay... okay". I hung up after that and then my friend found this site for me, and now I'm here telling you my story... Don't feel rushed into giving any information or money! If they don't want you to ask anyone else about it, it looks really bad on their part. She made me feel very ignorant, and that's why I had to speak very aggressively towards her. Some people just need to be yelled at.
Got a phone call today from a man who was clearly in the middle of a busy restaurant. I could hear silverware and people talking loudly nearby. It was so loud I could barely hear him. In my experience, a professional wouldn't be calling me from a public place, they'd call me from their own office. He tells me he's with Explore Talent and wants to speak with me. Right away I thought it was weird because I submit myself to auditions all the time (with Actor's Access and LACasting) and couldn't remember having submitted to anything called Explore Talent but I figured maybe I had just forgotten.
I gave him a few minutes and he asked if I'm looking to audition and I said yes. I'm thinking this is a legitimate agency perhaps since I have contacted a few about representation but I'm also still very confused why he was calling me from such a loud location. Then he says "Oh I see you've actually been talking to Brenda in the past about joining. Hold on for a second while I call her." I'm so confused at this point since I haven't spoken to anyone named Brenda but he comes back on the line and asks me again if I want to audition. I repeat yes.
So the guy starts in a very scripted manner to tell me I was a perfect match for Baywatch and Transformers. I'm listening and feeling like this has to be a joke. This doesn't sound at all like how an agent would be calling a potential client. Then he (in the fakest, most scripted manner ever goes) "Oh wow, I'm looking at your pictures and you're so beautiful" Imagine a monotone computer saying those words and you will begin to understand how ridiculous this call is. Then he asks me "Is your hair black? I can't tell" If he's looking at my pictures as he claims he'd be able to tell my hair color. I literally just laughed and hung up. Then a quick Google search brought me to this page and I just had to write a review.
Seeing these reviews is just too sad to me. I hope no one else gives these people their hard earned money. You don't have to PAY to go on auditions. That's simply illegal and this is a scam. I literally go on 5-10 auditions a week and have never paid to meet with a casting director. Besides he tells me he's located in Nevada, I live in Los Angeles; if I want to work with an agency I'll use one of the thousands of legit agencies located here in LA. If you are reading this and haven't signed up yet, do yourself a favor and DON'T! There are legitimate websites like LACasting, Actor's Access, Backstage, and IMDbPro out there that do provide real casting information and they cost considerably less money!
Also, please people use common sense! If you live in the middle of Idaho, the chances of a big time casting agent living in the tiny town nearby is slim to none. If it sounds too good to be true then chances are, it is!
I got an email from them that I was wanted for a modeling gig in my area that would pay $4500. Obviously I was like "I need that money and the exposure!" So I called and talked to this guy who seemed very scripted. He kept repeating himself too. Then eventually said that there was a problem and my account wasnt active since I never paid the fee and that for 3 months its $99 and for 6 its $188 and after I activate my account bookings and everything will be free and that this CD might even provide transportation for me if needed.
Red Flags during call:
-If my account wasnt active then how would a CD even be able to view it. If your account isnt active with a phone company you cant call or text is a good example of why this wouldnt make sense for casting
-It is a casting directors job to look for new talent and they get a percentage of what they make off of you(talent) and no legit CD is going to have you pay for a "potential interview". I used to be with a legit company called AMTC when I was 16 and I got to meet real CDs but no one wanted a 16 year old singer and they all wanted me for Commercials or Modeling and I was stupid in turning them down. One of my best friends that I grew up with came with me as a part of the team from my state and she got a career in modeling. Shes been modeling for about 3 1/2 years now because of that. Ive never asked her to help me cuz I wanna do it for myself but the point is that when I was with AMTC yeah I had to pay for training and everything for the extra exposure most people dont get but I never once had to pay for an Audition and if a CD was interested they or an agent of theirs wold give me a call. There was no call center noise in the background and they arent pushy for people theyve never casted before. They arent desperate for talent like scamming companies like ET are.
-Pushy(which I just mentioned in the point above)
-I never gave them my money and decided to check them out because they just didnt seem legit to me. They promised the moon and made it like if I pay this fee Im set but with AMTC they always told me its gonna be hard work, proper exposure, your own talent and who you know
-After hanging up I looked them up on multiple websites because I never trust only one reference and after looking about 8 different places with the same reviews its pretty obvious that I made the right choice by trusting my gut and not paying.
**ET states that they have an A+ rating with the BBB as you can see below that is a lie**
Look at the BBB rating for Explore Talent http://los-angeles.bbb.org/Business-Report/Exploretalentcom-*******
"Company Rating F
Our opinion of what this rating means:
We strongly question the companys reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the laws licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the companys industry is known for its fraudulent business practices."
" Complaint Experience
Most complainants allege unauthorized credit or debit card charges. Some customers complain that after they cancelled the service that they were still charged. Some complain that they signed up for a free membership but were later telephonically solicited and offered jobs, audition assistance, or that casting directors were interested in interviewing them but they had to sign up for a pro membership to receive more information..."
