Site is very user friendly. Buying tickets was quick and easy.
I had booked a concert locally in Northern Nevada for a "bucket list" musician. I ended up in a bit of a snafu because I didn't realize the standing-room only section would not be enough for me having to bring my medical device (a cancer care device). I had purchased the ticket insurance in the event of illness etc. I called in to upgrade my tickets to seats (about 4 months early) and they informed me that "all sales are final" but they MIGHT be able to give me a credit for 90% of what I paid if, and only if, I still bought tickets with them.
The 10% fee was for "restocking" e-tickets, even though they were never actually delivered to my email in the first place. I had ordered e-Tickets and the email I DID receive was simply the order confirmation; at a later date they were to send the REAL email with the ticket to download. They state that they have fees associated with "notifying their supplier" that the e-tickets are re-stoked. I highly doubt there is a coder who manually goes through and has to enter "Ticket #123" manually back into a database every time there is a refund.
In the end, the ticket I originally bought that had a $62 fee included for TicketMaster's service fee. Apparently was not enough to cover changing a ticket. Furthermore, they did the "leading along" thing of first stating that the difference in price was "$69" for the tickets upgrades, but then later also said that the ticket insurance changed price so the ACTUAL total change was over $85 because of a separate increase in the insurance, which I understand. The ticket price increased, so of course the insurance premium also increased.
This is not a 1-star review. The gentleman on the phone was indeed very helpful and did what he could to get me most of my funds transferred to new tickets (which were my fault for not buying correctly in the first place) but it is still a low review because these nickel-and-dime policies are just outrageous. 10% restocking for something that a software system probably handles for you, and that no human realistically has to touch, to "re-stock" a digital number? Come on...
Still, knowing these online vendors, I probably got a better result than most people who may not have been able to get any transfer or any refund. The service rep probably DID help me out a bit in the background, so definitely not a 1-star, but nowhere near even a 3-star because of company pricing issues.
With that huge service fee (now $73 with my more expensive 2 seated tickets), I may try to call all concert venues directly to get tickets. Unfortunately, I don't think any of the local venues manage their own tickets anymore, which means they all end up being about another $60-70 more than base price.
I guess this is a >$100 learning lesson...
