This is an absolutely horrible company, trying to scam you by making up their own rules and hoping you fall for it.
After I made (and payed) my booking via Erasmusu, the landlord cancelled. Erasmusu refused to give my money back because they stated that i violated their terms and agreement by giving my email adress, which I gave AFTER I already payed them. If the landlord had confirmed, nothing would have been wrong but now he cancelled, they refused to give my money back.
It took me a lot of emails and contact with a lawyer to get at least the rent I payed back, but they are still trying to keep an administration fee. That is not only annoying, rude and in violated with their own terms, but also absolutely unlawful. I will continue to work to get my remaining money back, because these practices have to be stopped.
I recommend NOT to work with them and if they do try to scam you, do not give up too easily and inform the competent authorities about it.
They have a very bad service, it is very hard to talk to them and I only got a refund after threatening with legal consequences and then only half of it.

The Department has verified the booking process and, according to the system, sufficient evidence has also been sent to your email, in a private way.
In fact, as we have already indicated, we received two bookings from you:
- the first one was refused by the owner, for this reason, we prepared a full refund for you;
- the second one has been confirmed by the owner, for this reason, it is not possible to proceed with a full refund. Erasmusu is obliged to send the payment to the owner, who has kept the room occupied for your reservation, losing other possible customers. We have also offered you the option to switch accommodation or negotiate with the owner on a kind of refund.
We really did our best to help you. We kindly ask you to check again the Terms of Use which the user is obliged to read and accept before booking.

My first guest moved in. After 1 week I was still not paid. Erasmusu did not reply to emails. On january 6 in Montreal (!) the guest had to leave a place he reserved for 4 months and even though he paid to Erasmusu in full. They did not even reply to him!

I wrote in their live chat and an agent helped me to find an accommodation for my Internship in Italy. Then, another agent wrote me to manage the booking. Everything went good, the landlord is working with Erasmusu since years and the house is really nice. I would definitely recommend it.

They scam people!
Even ex-employees admit that this is a scam business (reviews found on Glassdoor):
"they scam people... Since I stopped working for them I got so many messages of people that are super angry with me! The reservation got canceled and they never received any money... Also; they ask people to put positive reviews so never believe the 5/5 comments; these are comments from themself ;) (...) Stop teaching people to lie and cheat. Make a system that motivates workers and don't have to double cross people."
"The company only use free tools and tell you "doesn't matter about legal rules"."

Besides my own bad experience with them and all the other negative reviews I've seen, this really confirms that this "business" is built solely around scamming students out of their money...

I used Erasmusu for booking accommodation in Rome and unfortunately, after my payment the landlord canceled the booking. As I never used such services before, I was scared that it's a scam, however decided to stay patient and keep in touch with the support team. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anything to book instead of the previous accommodation, but the support team tried to help me. I sent them a lot of links of the accommodation I liked, but all of them were already booked. However, it was also my fault because I should have booked it beforehand, not 3 weeks before going to the city with such a high demand for rooms and flats. Finally, I asked for a refund and my support agent told me that it can take 5-15 days to get it and the service immediately sent me a bill. I received a refund in 2 or 3 days so I still had time to book accommodation.
It could be much better if only available accommodation was posted on the website and all the others were deleted immediately after being booked. Also, probably the company's policy provides one email from the support team per day, but this is a little inconvenient as it takes more time to solve a problem. This is why i give Erasmusu 4 stars.
Few support workers contacted me after my booking got canceled, but special thanks to Giulia who checked the links that I sent her quite fast, also suggested me some options, and helped me to get a refund in a couple of days :) I guess if I booked accommodation on Erasmusu beforehand, it would work.
I booked a room and I found out there are 4 of the exact same rooms in the exact same apartment on different locations. The pictures also don't match the location, the buildings out of the windows aren't the same. I emailed erasmusu, but for a week I didn't get a response. I also cannot reach my landlord, so I think I got scammed and I have lost more than 1000 euro.

I thought I was making a request to see if the apartment was available and if I could get in contact with the landlord. Instead it got booked straight away without me knowing it would, so I booked by mistake and wanted to cancel my booking. I got in contact with them but I got no answer. They also say that no money will be withdrawn from the account until the booking has been confirmed by the landlord. This is absolutely not true, immediately when I noticed this I wanted all my money back. If I can't have my money back after a mistake booking that has accidentally been accepted, this is definently one of the worst sites ever. If I get my money back I will take this post down. They seem so helpfull with everything but as soon as it comes to cancelation and refunds there is always radio silence according to other people. This is very unprofessional and I do not understand how they can still have costumers that are "satisfied". Would not recommend and be careful if you book. I've seen that some people have been satisfied, but I certainly haven't been. Please give me my money back.
At the 16th of January, I was made a payment of 1044€ to ERASMUSU., and at the web site they have written that "keep the house now". In some seconds they have taken the money frm my bank account. Then they've send me an e-mail that says: your "booking" has been made, we will talk to the landlord if he/she wants to give you the apartment or not. I was schocked at that moment as they didn't say that the money that I have paid was just for booking, as they have written that the money was for rent (I thought that the house was mine). Plus, at the EU legislation, it is FORBIDDEN to take money from anyone before you sign the rental lease (contract). In two days, they have send me an email that says the landlord FORGOT to write right dates about availability of the apartment, and that the apartment was not available at the dates that I have choosen. So I wanted my payment back. They have told me that ok, we have refunded you, like in 5 days. At the e-mail they told me that we will refund you maximum in 10 days. HA HA HA it is the 16th day. And still they didn't refund the money. PLUS, maybe here is the most important par: I learned that ERASMUSU has taken 1181$ more from my credit card, without my authorization. I really don't know how they did that. I have written about this to them also but they are telling me that "oh probably that is something about your bank" That is so funny. So be careful with this website and try not to rent house from here. Because money is not a think that you earn easily, at all.
Hi fellow students, just wanted to share my experience with Erasmusu/Spotahome (Erasmusu belongs to Spotahome). Maybe it will help some of you to be more cautious with these websites.
Further below I will explain the full story for the ones who are interested.
In short: I accepted an offer on the above stated website and the landlord just changed the conditions and raised the price AFTER booking. I did not accept such behaviour and the website refuses to refund the service fee although no mistakes on my side.
Long version:
I accepted an offer (price stated that all bills are included except gas) for a room and booked it. I had to pay a service fee and the first monthly rent.
Afterwards I received the contact details of the landlord who I gladly contacted to talk about how to hand over the keys.
However the landlord just changed the conditions on WhatsApp and tried to charge me extra fees for electricity, internet and water.
I notified Erasmusu about this but received no help at all. I checked the website after 2 weeks (it took that long for Erasmusu to write back) and was shocked to see that the offer was changed AFTER my talk with the website and landlord.
After contacting Erasmusu again, they said that the offer states the "correct" information. Being afraid to have such a case I made evidence pictures and screenshots of the website before it was changed.
I even saved an offline version of the website and sent all these evidences to Erasmusu. They still refused to refund the fee and just wrote me back: tenants are responsilbe to check all information before booking.
I feel very disgusted by this kind of behaviour from the landlord and also from the website. No wrongdoing on my side at any point but Erasmusu/Spotathome still treats its tenants like this.
Take care of scammers in these facebook groups but also of these kind of websites. I would have suggested you to make screenshots as evidence but not even that is enough as I experienced.

We are sorry your booking doesn't work, we did our best to help you and we showed you that all the information was clarified in the advertisement, at the moment of your booking. The bills are not included (as stated in the ad with a clear sentence) in the rental price.
We always remember to the tenant to check all this information, before proceeding with the booking, which is binding.
The Erasmusu agents need to follow the rules describes on the Terms of Use, read and accepted by the tenant before booking.
