I recently had vinyl plank flooring installed in my home by Empire Today, and while the installation process went smoothly, I was disappointed to discover an unexpected cost after the fact. The salesperson had promoted a comprehensive 5-year warranty as part of the package, but it turns out this coverage actually costs an additional 10% of the total price. This crucial detail was never disclosed during the sales presentation and only came to light when we made the final payment after the work was complete. This is unethical, and I hope they are investigated for doing this to their customers. If you are considering using Empire Today, DON'T, but if you do, demand to read the full contract with all the payment details BEFORE you sign anything with them. We trusted the salesperson and Empire, but we learned our lesson that they are never to be trusted.
Buyer Beware. This is a dishonest company that is selling an inferior product. I paid $7,500 for carpeting that doesn't match the sample that I picked out. The installers were awful. They left a huge mess of carpet fibers all over my lawn, put heavy furniture back in the wrong places, walked on my new carpet with wet boots, and there are seams in the middle of rooms and the hallway. It looks like they used remnants instead of room size carpet rolls. Empire's customer service is awful. I have left dozens of messages and nobody calls me back. I bought the protection plan, which is useless since it is nearly impossible to communicate with a supervisor who could actually approve service. Do not use Empire Today, they are the worst.
Holly, this makes us upset to hear. The last thing we want is for you to be unhappy with your floors. We want to make things right. Please email us your account information to customerexperience@empire-today.com so we can assist you ASAP.
Think more than twice before calling empire today. Their representatives are very well spoken and trained to convince people to fall into their ripped off! They offer ten year guarantee but do not believe them they're lying! I can show you pictures of the floor they replaced and you'll not believe it that the damage happened within 6 months of they having place their so called business carpet! It was off within six months! And I paid $5000! A total fraud! When I called them to use the warranty they were charging me $2250! That business should be out of the public they are professional robbers just alerting you before you fall into their trap! I hope you read this review before calling them. My advice NEVER CALL THEM! Run away from those stealers!
Kanella, we hate to hear that your flooring has exposed issues. We want to investigate this further to see how we can help. Please email us with your contact info at customerexperience@empire-today.com, and we'll get in touch with you as soon as we can.
I had Empire Today install laminated floors in my living room, dining room, kitchen and hallways. It's been two years June the flooring is already coming up in various places I called management told me that my warranty was up for one year and it will charge me $175.just to come out Pull products do not purchase the laminated floors
Mel, we're disappointed to hear that you're unhappy. We understand that our team offered the best outcome possible. If you would like to move forward, please let us know.
Install team barely spoke any English so communication was a challenge. They did a poor job blending the carpet with the already existing carpet. Left extensive damage to the baseboard trim. Did not properly put furniture back together after assuring me they would. Customer service rep who called the next day to check on the job was patronizing and condescending after I told her what the issues were. Overall the experience was terrible and I will never use Empire again
P K, we always aim to deliver a great experience and are gutted when we don’t meet expectations. Thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention. We will use the feedback to improve and ensure this doesn’t happen again.
The salesperson was very unprofessional. I did go with them as they stated no hidden costs. The day of installation they added on additional cost. Empire states it is in your contact. Refuse to refund me the hidden costs even though they stated no hidden costs. The service associates all had a phoney line but stating it was in your contact. I even contacted the CEO, he passed it down and told do not contact us again. Do not use them they are unethical and take advantage of senior citizens.
Tamara, this is not the experience that we wish for our customers, and we sincerely apologize for your experience. Your feedback is valuable to us and will help us improve in the future. We will be further reviewing your concerns.
This is the worst company I've ever dealt with. Do not waste your money. They may be cheap compared to other companies but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The installers are the worst in the industry and the company will not stand behind ANYTHING. If you have any problems they defer to the manufacture and the installers which are all sub contractors. I cant speak to the quality of the goods as of yet because my carpet is only a month old but I will tell you I've had to have the carpet replaced and reinstalled because the first installers did such a bad job and the carpet was also defective from the factory. If you enjoy your house being a disaster, nobody calling you back, installers that don't speak English and are terrible at their jobs then by all means call Empire.
Deborah, we wish to make this right for you, all we need is your account information so we can get started on a solution for you. All you have to do next is send an email to customerexperience@empire-today.com with your account info and we will work on a solution for you ASAP.
The salesman will take a check and disappear. The quality of the work is horrible. They're punctuality is horrific I've lost time from work waiting for them. It took four times for them to come out to fix the same problems and I'm still not happy with the work after paying $17,000 for four rooms do not use them
Lisa, this is not the experience that we wish for our customers, and we apologize for your experience. We would like to make this right. Please email us at customerexperience@empire-today.com with your contact info so we can resolve this.
This company is nothing but a farce. After spending $*******.00 on so called "luxury vinyl plank" flooring plus an extra $1140.00 for a lifetime warranty to protect us if the floor had issues. Our floor started chipping in six months and when we called them for warranty repair, they said sorry, it is not covered due to moisture which the warranty clearly says it does cover. Then, a lot more chipping over a 16 square feet area. This time Empire Today said that is not covered due to of all things sunshine which is the most stupid excuse because that is absolutely ridiculous. Do you want to buy a floor that can never see the day? They are a SHAM company! STAY AWAY AND DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY LIKE I DID!
Charles, we're disappointed to hear that you're unhappy. We understand that our team offered the best outcome possible. If you wish to move forward, you know where to reach us.
I had Empire install carpeting in two bedrooms. One floor was found to have water damage so I paid them an addition $770 to install a new floor. When they got there, I was informed they wouldn't be able to install the new floor and that I would be refunded the $770.because I had to hire an outside contractor. I have made six calls and spent over two hours on the phone. Each time they create a new ticket and keep putting me on hold because they're going to speak to management and each time no-one is available from management and they have to leave a message. It has been over two weeks and now I need to hire an attorney. I would NEVER recommend Empire.
Suzanne, nothing is more important than your home. We feel terrible knowing that you did not get the attention that you deserve. We are here to help! Please email customerexperience@empire-today.com as soon as possible so we can work with you on a solution. We will make sure your case is top priority!
We had our flooring installed in September, it looked terrific. In October we discovered that the wax ring around the toilet did not get reset properly and raw sewage had been leaking through our floor into the basement ceiling for 5 weeks. I called Empire to report the issue and it took an additional 5 weeks for them to approve the mold mitigation work. I am now left with a demolished bathroom and bedroom and Empire will not send an insurance adjuster out so restoration can begin. What started as a exciting home improvement project has turned into an absolute disaster simply because of Empire's unwillingness to accept responsibility and make an effort to part of the solution. I would not recommend this company to anybody.
Sam, we'd like to make things, but are unable to locate your order. Please email us at customersupport@empire-today.com with your order information, thank you.
I had them install $10K of LVP and they did not put any underlay down. They have been out twice and blamed it on chairs, me walking on the em, me cleaning them, subfloor issues and water. I paid to have my subfloor inspected and that showed zero issues. I had my foundation inspected and that showed zero issues. I finally had a floor company out and they removed some of the flooring to discover the installation issue. This company is dishonest and will simply steal your money. DO NOT USE THEM!
Kerry, we’re so sorry to hear that your flooring concerns have not been addressed yet, and we’d love to have the opportunity to resolve this. Please email us with your account info at customerexperience@empire-today.com, and we'll get in touch with you as soon as we can.
Called for an estimate, they came and never left me a detailed estimate just a price. No mention of measurements, type of carpeting or other important details. They wanted me to sign a contract right then. They say they will match any price but how do you compare pricing without an estimate! Called other companies and Empire was the most expensive even with their so-called numerous discounts. Do yourself a favor and stay away, there are plenty other honest companies out there! And cheaper!
Installers stacked our two big and heavy easy chairs on each other to get them out of the way. But this broke the back of the one underneath which we didn't find out until my wife sat in the chair and almost fell backwards to the floor. I have tried to speak to someone at customer service about this but always get told someone from the "office" will call me back. They never do. Now we have to buy a new chair.
Ray, it worries us that we have yet to resolve your issues. We know how frustrated you must be. We want to make things right. We've located your account, and we'll contact you asap to resolve this.
If you are looking to have to repair damage to your home after a careless install all while paying a higher price than with competitors, look no further than Empire! We went with Empire after being sold on their customer service despite receiving lower quotes from a competitor. Now, numerous emails and two customer service claims to Empire have lead to minimal response from customer service after they damaged our front door and the trim, walls and doors in the room they installed carpet in. Ultimately, we were told the damage was "covered in the contract" and they can offer us an insulting $75. Our front door was scratched to the point that we will need to have it sanded and repainted. The room we got carpet installed in was freshly painted and will now require repainting. We will spend more on paint alone than the $75 offered! The installers left a trail of trash and debris behind to top it off. We've been renovating our house for a year and I've never had a contractor leave my home in such damage and disarray. I would never work with a company that is okay with leaving this much damage behind and having it be considered standard enough to say it is covered in their contract. There are plenty of other places to go for flooring install, any of them would be better than Empire! You will spend much less time scrolling past Empire in the optimized search results to find a better company for your flooring install than you will repairing everything in your home after they leave.
Sammi, we take your feedback seriously and will treat this as a learning experience. After all, there is always room for improvement, and we hope this does not happen again. Thank you.
As an update, it's been three weeks since I started my initial compliant, and nothing near a satisfactory resolution has come from Empire. So be prepared for the long-haul when dealing with this vendor. If this drags out, the next step is arbitration in small claims court.
If you order anything other than the cheap/basic/economy padding, the installers won't put it in. Instead, they put in the cheap padding. I didn't pay attention when they installed, but had to cut back some carpet to install flooring and noted that the padding put in was NOT what I had ordered -- I had ordered the premium spill-proof/pet-proof padding with liner -- not the cheap stuff without liner. Then the resolution is that they'll replace the padding, but YOU need to move everything out of the room for the installers to replace... or give you $100-150 refund on the "difference in price" for the padding. Which is BS. I warned my friend about it (whom I had referred to Empire unaware I had been ripped off) and they were doing the SAME THING, except he caught it the day of the install. But the installers were like, "well, this is what the warehouse gave us. We can either install it today or reschedule." My friend was moving in in two days and needed the carpet, so he caved and let them install the crap padding and would then work out something with Corporate. THIS IS A SCAM. Do not buy from Empire unless you only buy the cheap stuff. And stay strong with your conviction of them wronging you. They try to frustrate you until you just give up (like Comcast). Take to the review pages. Take it to their Facebook page, bbb.org. Keep up the good fight
We had work done by empire because of our remote location. No one else was interested. That should have been warning one.
After less than 2 years, carpet seams are showing (two old retired folks) from minimal traffic.
Flooring in bathroom was installed improperly and has become very noisy. Evidently they didn't remove the the old vinyl flooring before installing their product.
As the title states, only use these hacks if you have no other choice or if you plan to flip your home and have no conscience.
Uh oh! This makes us upset to hear, Ray. The last thing we want is for you to be unhappy with your floors. We want to make things right. Please email us your account information to customerexperience@empire-today.com so we can help you as soon as possible.
Tried to get my deposit back but was told no because I waited longer than 3 days. Their prices are extremely high. Was able to get better carpet for half the price of empire... don't waste your money!
Teresa, we're disappointed to hear that your installation has not been completed. We’d like to further discuss your experience but we are unable to locate your account. Please email us at customersupport@empire-today.com so we can look into this.
If you expect to Empire complying with the contract obligations, do not believe. They interpret how they're working for them. Don't trust sales reps, they will promised a lot but installer do what is cheaper and less labor for them.
Aleksander, we'd like to discuss your pricing concerns further, but we can't locate your account. Please email your account information to us at customersupport@empire-today.com so we can contact you back.
