“DONT EVEN BOTHER USING THIS COMPANY!”

baz w.
7/1/21

Having purchased a garden bar costing almost £700 and agreeing on a delivery date of 4 weeks things went reasonably well, this was until the agreed delivery date was not met, what we were met with was excuse after excuse. Anyway late delivery seemed to put all problems behind us which were short lived as the wrong parts were delivered. Que the phone calls to rude obnoxious staff who offered nothing but the obligatory apology standard script really. No phone calls back to update me on what is going on however just received an email informing me that they are unsure when this item will be delivered as its out of stock! I would strongly recommend you think twice about using this company for anything, no doubt i will receive another apology in response to this review!

I purchased a Shire Overlap Apex Bike Store back in March and because of Covid i had to wait for delivery in six weeks. When the product arrived by a courier who looks more like a Rag and bone man they direct courier from a professional company. However i was excited to press on with the shed as i was in dire need of it too store the bikes and get them out of the open. Upon inspection of the panels, Doors, Roof and fittings I was utterly disguised with the standard of workmanship and the fact that they had got through quality control. If there is any quality control? I found over 12 fault in all, Nails through wood and exposed the other side. Panels with sap coming out. Holes in wood and unfinished wood doors. I had no choice but to construct the shed none the less as i has waited 6 weeks. Once i contacted the customer service via email as they would not answer the phone. They informed me that i should just return the faulty parts. I explained that this was not now possible as i had constructed the bike store and they i would have to send the entire thing back. Why should put aside another day to build it and then another day to take it down to send back. Only to wait for another one to be sent? Overall i am completely unimpressed with the product and the customer services. I would never buy another product from them.

I am waiting for a response to my complaint about a Shire 10x10 Overlap Shed. Poor quality workmanship. Nails through wood that had splintered. The door hinge was bent to fit. One of the panels was out of true so did not butt up to the next panel. The window sills were missing, so we had to tack plastic over the holes. The 4 cover bars on the front and back of the shed were 100mm short. For £1000 not what I expected at all.
Delivery was good and Sharon did respond to my call about the windows, which she says are on their way to me.
I have requested compensation for the extra expense, hassle and stress over this situation. At the moment I would not recommend their products. This may change if they can acknowledge the faults with this product and provide compensation as requested.

Tip for consumers:
Shop around. The quality of the shed I purchased was extremely poor.

Ordered a Forest garden gate and ironmongery. Only received gate and informed Elbec 3/4 weeks ago that ironmongery could not be supplied Sent 3 email and tried phoning twice and had no reply to emails and cant get an answer on the phone. Do they just take orders and money then if something goes wrong they do not want to know.

Tip for consumers:
Only use if you can talk to them direct as they do not answer phone or reply to emails

If I could give minus 5 stars I certainly would, Elbec are the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. We purchased a garden log cabin in April 2023 I hasten to add that although the building was purchased through Elbec it was manufactured by Shire Garden Buildings and was erected by Shire in July 23 and we paid the extra money to have it erected, this is a log cabin 44mm spruce, double glazed with a felt tiled roof.
By August 23 I had contacted Elbec more than 15 times and requested 3 or 4 times that someone from management come out, we had window frames not fitting, floor trim the wrong way round, gaps at the bottom of the doors and 12mm gap between boards.
At the end of October 2023 the heavy rain came pouring through the top of the gable end window soaking carpet, electrics and lifting the floorboards, we complained (again) no one came out to repair and with more heavy rain expected we removed the top window facia on the inside of the building in the hope of sealing any gap, we couldn't believe what we were seeing there is a 50mm hand sawn gap that runs the length of the window and movement of the boards (which is a natural occurrence) caused the external top window facia board to drop revealing the said 50mm gap and rain pored in. If that wasn't bad enough roof boards began to lift, after further emails and phone calls a team from Shire was sent who promptly told us that the building should never have been built like it was and they were unable to carry out repairs at that time as it was too big a job and the building needed to come down and rebuilt, after taking photos the team left.
More emails and phone calls to Elbec followed, by the middle of December nothing had been done, the roof has lifted further and the 12mm gap remains between boards and now floor boards have lifted.
Over 30 emails (all saved) and numerous phone calls only to receive replies of "We genuinely appreciate your patience and understanding during this process and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused" which seems to be a normal reply. There are many many things which I could mention (all documented) and the lies they tell are unbelievable the main problem is that we the customer are dealing with 2 companies, Elbec and Shire, because we purchased from Elbec our complaints go through them, who then pass to Shire and Shire then B.S Elbec.
Elbec on one occasion emailed us to say that a report from Shire said we had put screws in the window frames which didn't allow movement, we then sent Elbec a reminder of a complaint email with photos we sent the week after Shire had erected the building, showing clearly screws they had put in.
Due to the repairs needed on the building we have never been able to use it since its construction in July 23. It is now January 24 and nothing has been done. DON'T BUY FROM ELBEC

I very rarely write reviews, but this company has simply treated me so poorly I feel compelled!
I placed an order for an arbour costing £370 on April 13th. This order was in stock quoting 2 weeks delivery but after chasing I received it in a bit over 4 weeks. The item was damaged and could not be constructed, I informed them the day after delivery. Despite being advised a replacement would come, to date (5th June) - more than 4 weeks later, I am still waiting!
Elbec offer no communication simply pushing the issue on to manufacturer who have failed to contact me. I have been charged for faulty goods with thus far no redress. Purchase from this supplier at your peril!
