Their products may be reasonably priced, if you're counting on not getting adequate support. You have to submit question in forum instead of having your questions answer via chat or over the phone. It can take days to get 15 minutes worth of questions and answers in this method. I'd expected a little more or I would have gone with free software.
We've been using the eCommerce Templates shopping cart for 3-1/2 years now. The product has all the features we need - like accurate shipping calculations, the ability to accept online coupons, detailed reporting, and so on - and has been solid and stable despite very fast transaction growth on our online store. The support has always been responsive and helpful. Early-on we had no idea how fast our store would eventually grow, and how essential it turned out to be to choose a reliable cart like eCommerce Templates. Our only gripe is that the company doesn't advertise enough; we must have evaluated a dozen inferior (but highly advertised) competitors until another store owner in a different market recommended eCommerce Templates to us. Please evaluate your cart options carefully before you choose - and put this product on your list of carts to evaluate.
ECommerce Templates just allowed a scammer to steal my software license without my approval.
I have owned my license for over three years, yet they allowed a scammer to call them and allowed them to gain ownership and usage of my license.
When I spoke to them on the phone about this serious issue, they were rude and uncompromisingly unprofessional and I got nowhere.
I will NEVER use ECommerceTemplates again. They are awful!
Ecommerce templates is everything I needed for my online store - I use Ecommerce Templates shopping cart software. I started using it after I found out that the same software is being used by The Template Store, and several other such stores. I was even more impressed when I found out that Ecommerce Templates has worked with Google to integrate its new payment system Google Checkout. It was quick to setup and provided my business with product options.
Save your money EcommerceTemplates.com is the biggest piece of junk software around. Nothing works. Just bought the software and because this junk software I cant run our online store properly. Followed the instructions in their workless PDF File and site. Only thing we wanted to do is charge sales tax on the shipping rates as well. The manual made it sound so easy that you had to charge a 0 to 1 one. HA! It doesnt work. Long with 4 or 5 other so called features, guess what they didnt work either. Went to the support and saw alot of people asking questions over basic things and alot of the responses were, oh sorry you didnt pay us for support! What kind of company does that, no phone nothing. A company that resells junk software hiding behind a forum. We're filing a credit card dispute to get our money back and going to WooCommerce like we said originally. What the xxx was I thinking to buy this!
I've used Ecommerce Templates since 2006. Good set of features, reasonably priced and the support offered is second to none. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one to others.
Having read a very negative review, I felt I had to give a counter opinion.
We started using Ecommerce Templates software back in 2005. In 2019, we are approaching 25,000 products in our catalogue. We have a turnover close to £2m.
I'm not here to pretend its easy - it requires a lot of time and effort, but thanks to the shopping "cart" software we chose, we've been able to build a deep understanding of the code and maintain it all in-house.
That is the main attraction of Ecommerce Templates for our company - despite the feature list growing considerably since we first started out, the core logic in the code remains consistent and is accessible.
Ecommerce Templates might not have all the bells and whistles of some of its competitors, but much of that is "eye candy" and in reality, does little to increase sales. What it does do, it does well.
We've toyed with alternatives over the past 14 years but prefer the logical code which has not been turned into a monster through over development, the approachable, down-to-earth ECT team and the fact that we own the software.
Here's to another 14 years and then I might be able to retire!
Let us add some facts here as much of what is written here is pure invention and fantasy.
1. The cost of the software is $159 or $229 - it's a one time fee for a license to set up one store on one domain - we don't host the site or have any input unless the user comes back for support or updates.
2. Updates and support are $39.95 for 6 months or $59.95 for 12 months - these are optional and the initial purchase comes with six months of support and updates by the way
3. In the unlikely event we were planning to take hostages it would be very difficult considering we don't host the site or have any connection to the store once the user has purchased and downloaded.
4. The third party developers follow a set of agreed rules and there is a third party rating system - your point about "thieves" is bordering on the libelous
5. We have only deleted obvious spammers from our support, no users have ever been deleted and only one person we are aware of has had their account locked. We assume this user is the original reviewer and is somebody who has been posting on the support forum for over six years without ever paying the $39.95 for a support account - there's a limit to everyone's patience.
6. Nobody has ever suggested that users should learn to code - this is now complete fantasy stuff
7. We support about 35 of the top payment processing companies including Amazon, PayPal, authorize.net, sagepay, braintree, stripe - we would be very interested to find out which of these or other companies "steal your funds from customers instantly".
Whilst we welcome honest reviews of our software and services, this lacks any effort to be factual and to be perfectly blunt is absolute nonsense from start to finish.
