Flowers were not delivered prior to the funeral service. While customer service was helpful and refunded my purchase quickly, it wasn't possible to correct the problem.
I ordered a set of flowers from this site for a funeral. I spent the extra money to get the large bouquet, but at the funeral the small bouquet was delivered. I'm very disappointed I spent the extra money and did not get the product I paid for, instead getting a cheaper product.
Was informed a day after the funeral that the order could not be fulfilled. This florist was advertised on the funeral website. I believe it is a scam, as this has happened previously.
Lesson learned...do NOT order from websites advertised on funeral/obituary sites!
Hi Norman C.,
We are sorry to hear about your experience. If your order couldn't be fulfilled, you should have been advised either on June 26th, which was the same day you placed your order, or on June 27th. You didn't order from the funeral home website, you ordered from Echovita, an obituary website. Also, this was the first time you have ever ordered flowers from our website, so this has NOT happened previously. Lastly, Echovita is not a scam. Your order couldn't be fulfilled, and your order was refunded. Scams don't notify customers when their order cannot be fulfilled. Scams don't provide refunds either.
Quick and secured process. Was able to order flowers from the U.S for my uncles funeral in Nova Scotia. Very easy process with a wide variety to choose from. Thank You!
Placing the order was smooth with no glitches and a very nice selection of floral arrangements. Than, I received a call and text later stating my order could not be fulfilled after giving all of my information. I wish I had been informed before completing my order.
Hi Emelda B,
How would it be possible to be informed that your order couldn't be fulfilled before completing your order? That is literally impossible. We understand the circumstances are unfortunate, but giving a 1-star review for not being informed your order couldn't be fulfilled before completing your order is very unreasonable, since it's not possible. It's not a restaurant where you sit down, in person, and order something, then are immediately told they don't have it. Echovita is an obituary website. Flower orders are processed by Blooms Today. They receive the order and assign it to a local florist within the area of delivery, if the local florist cannot fulfill the order and no other local florist in the area is available, the order is cancelled.
Placing the order was smooth with no glitches and a very nice selection of floral arrangements.
It is a shame that one cannot give 0 starts for a rating because this company deserves no better. This sentiment, and my opinion of this company, mirrors the experience and the opinions of many other individuals who have been affected by the practices of Echovita as you can see by reading other reviews of the company.
Essentially, they post obituaries completely unauthorized by the families of the deceased on their web site. The obituary is re-written from the official obituaries posted by the responsible funeral home, presumably to circumvent copyright infringement violations, and peppered with other family information such as identities, etc. garnered from internet sources. In our case some of this information in the obituary they posted was erroneous, and specific names were published without our permission.
The position of the company, as articulated in their responses to numerous complaints online, and in their specific response to my demand that the obituary in question be removed, is that they are serving a public good by communicating information. However, their unauthorized obituaries are completely superfluous. The information is already communicated in the family-authorized original obituary posted by the funeral home and readily available to all on the internet.
If the purpose of the company was to do a public good and communicate information, they should simply seek permission from the affected family in writing before posting the obituary, or even better, ask the bereaved family to review the obituary for content and accuracy before publishing it. They do not do this! Rather, it is my opinion, and that of many others who have shared in my family's experience as noted in their reviews, that the purpose of Echovita' s obituaries is to sell flowers and other memorial products. While I am a firm believer in capitalism, there have to be ethical limits and publishing unauthorized obituaries, with uncorroborated information by the family of the deceased, with the purpose of selling products, in my opinion steps over that ethical line. To reiterate, since the official obituary prepared by the family and posted by the funeral home on the internet is available to all, and contains accurate information, and the only information the family of the deceased wishes to be posted, there is absolutely no need or altruistic purpose for these Echovita obituaries. In our case, this unsolicited and unauthorized obituary has been confusing to acquaintances of our deceased family member who have contacted us.
Echovita' s business plan uses families and their friends at a most vulnerable time in their lives. I urge all who have unfortunately lost a loved one to make certain that the only obituary published is from the funeral home responsible, and the obituary that the family wants to see in print.
Hi Bruce,
You stated that we posted specific names without your permission, however, all names we post would have first been posted publicly online in the original version of the obituary, so it wouldn't be possible for Echovita to post specific names that weren't originally posted online. You stated that Echovita should seek permission from families, and we do via the funeral homes who cooperate with us, as we post their complete original obituaries. For funeral homes that refuse to cooperate with us, which means they refuse to inform families they serve of the free service we provide to give them the option to post on our website for free, we are unable to reach out to the family because we don't have their contact information. Howevers, many of those same funeral homes who don't cooperate with us do work with paid websites who actually pay the funeral home to post obituaries onto their platform, but the funeral home charges the family to post to the other platform as well. That is something we disagree with. Families shouldn't have to pay for obituaries.
When obituaries are posted on the internet, we further share the basic facts only in a death notice format to inform society of who has passed away. We organize all obituaries and death notices by city, so that people can see who passed away daily in selected cities of their choice with a free subscription. We do this in an effort to create as much support as possible for families. People can share their condolences for free with the family via email or social media. Families can post full obituaries on our website for free or submit the full obituary to be shared by us and replace the pre-existing death notice. Families can then claim the obituary with proper proof, such as a photo of the death certificate to receive money raised through sales or donate it towards a charity of their choosing. Pictures can be posted to create a memorial page for free by friends and family. Any modifications, corrections, or requests for removal by the family or their representative are completed immediately upon receiving notification. We only have the best intentions and are truly sorry for your loss.
It was easy to find a lovely flower arrangement and to have it delivered to my cousin's funeral. There was a problem with the order which was corrected easily by phone the next day.
I appreciated the follow up from your team since my order looked like it could have been an accidental duplicate.
The flowers were delivered to two different residences the day after I placed the order.
I was pleased with the team and the ordering process.
Thank you.
They could not provide our selected arrangement, they phoned/emailed stating such and asked what other arrangement we wanted. Unfortunately, we were traveling and did not get message in time. They canceled the order and gave us our money back. Pleased with their overall service.
I was unable to go to the funeral for visiting so I sent a floral arrangement. Very satisfied with the arrangement-it was gorgeous and it arrived on time. Will use this service in the future. Thank you.
The flowers that were ordered through the site were never sent to the funeral home. It wasn't until a colleague mentioned that our arrangement wasn't there that I phoned to follow up. At that time I only learned that the order was never delivered. Seriously? How can that be? Yes, my money was refunded but I was very embarrassed that my order was never fulfilled. I will never use this service again.
Hi Wendy F.,
We're terribly sorry to haear about your experience. We hope you expressed your complaint with Blooms Today when you spoke to them, so they can contact the local florist and find out why the order wasn't delivered and why they didn't notify you if there was an issue with your order before the date of delivery.
I found ordering flowers was very easy, with a good selection. The location and time was automatically filled in, all I had to do was select the arrangement, configure the wording, and of course pay. They were competitively priced, so all in all, I was very satisfied. More things should be this easy. Especially when dealing with death or sickness.
Ordered flowers for a memorial service that started at 11 am and flowers showed up late which I can accept that as it was day after holiday. Unfortunately with them arriving late never had chance to read cards. Got call later in the day from another friend who was recieving flowers from one of her other friends. Evidently the flowers I was sending to memorial service were delivered to her house 4 hours later for her 90th birthday. She happened to be a close friend that knew when she read card that it had to be Neal and his Son Steven that were sending to their neighbors memorial. Other than that the arrangements looked great and I thank you for your service. Just be careful on the small details of the orders
Flowers were not even at the funeral home. Don't even know where they were or what the arrangement looked like. Cost was $150.
Disappointing. Yes I received a notification that the flowers were delivered but I did not see them Anywhere
Hi Rebecca D.,
As per your order, the flowers were delivered to The Campus Church Aurora on June 17th at 12:28 p.m. You were also sent a delivery confirmation email, which may have been received in your spam. Thank you.
Good experience. Even though there is a few flowers to choose from would like to have more selection.
Ordering went well; super easy. Delivery on time. I was a little disappointed that there were not fresh flowers inserted in the planter like the picture showed.
The flowers arrived late for the funeral.
I did get a refund and they were nice flowers but I would not recommend them for a funeral or suggest you tell them to deliver early.
I purchased a funeral spray on Tuesday with an expected delivery on Friday morning for the wake but I received an email on Thursday evening stating that my delivery wasn't going to happen because the florist would be closed until the next Monday. Nevertheless, I was unable to provide a funeral spray for the family. The company shouldn't have accepted the order to begin with, knowing they couldn't fulfill the order. I will never use AGAIN. Hi LaShan C.,
Echovita is an obituary website. All of our flower orders are processed by Blooms Today. They assign each order to a local florist. The local florist should have informed you earlier if they couldn't fulfill your order. The only valid reason to inform you at the last minute they would be closed is if they had an emergency at their shop and had to be closed.
Ordering flowers online was easy although i found very pricey. I had to email and ask for a receipt after waiting 8 hours and checking my spam junk mail. When I received the email the following day with the receipt they told me i should have checked my spam mail. If a customer sends email saying a receipt was not received dont doubt the customer as that is not very professional
Hi Mary-Ann C.,
From our experience, the majority of our customers who email us requesting their receipt didn't check their spam folder. Also, at times, there can be delays in receiving the order confirmation email. I would like to add that you stated our customer service said, "You shoud have checked your spam mail," however that it not how we responded to you. This was our response to you, "I attached your receipt. You may have originally received it in your spam." Thank you.
Although the arrangement eventually delivered was lovely, it was a frustrating experience. First order was cancelled without explanation and then the next attempt indicated that it would be delivered the next day which was way too early - I was unable to change that so I discontinued the order. My third attempt just a few days before the service was successful.
Ordered a 30 inch bright colored arrangement. What arrived was ok, but it wasn't a 30 inch arrangement. It was a few small plants in a basket. It served its purpose and was nice looking, just not what I ordered.
Answer: Candles, messages, and memories left on Echovita only appear on the obituary page you left it on Echovita. They do not simultaneously appear on the funeral home's website. No where on Echovita does it say candles, messages, or memories left on our website appear on the funeral home's website. You'd have to visit the funeral home's website yourself and leave whatever you'd like there. Thank you. In the future, you may contact us directly via our contact us section.
Answer: The eternity candle you purchased is a virtual candle that remains lit on the obituary page on our website. The family is not directly notified, but your message and candle are posted publicly on the obituary page, so anyone who visits the page will be able to see it.
Answer: Hi James, you may call our partner, Blooms Today directly to inquire about your order at 1-800-522-8707. This phone number is also stated on our website on the flower selection and checkout pages.
Echovita has a rating of 3.2 stars from 1,713 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Echovita most frequently mention flower arrangement, customer service and order flowers. Echovita ranks 2nd among Funeral sites.
Hi Ben N.,
If you believe the size of the arrangement delivered was smaller than the one you selected, please call Blooms Today directly at 1-800-522-8707. They may request a photo of the arrangement, but you will be eligible for a partial refund. Please note that flower arrangements are prepared and delivered by local florists, not Echovita. Echovita is an obituary website. Thank you.
