While doing research, I found several bad reviews for Ctbids.com, however, I learned each location is franchised owned. I won 2 auctions with Caring Transitions of Garden City. Rachel Rohn was wonderful. Responsive to emails and questions and even arranged for an alternate time to pickup our items. Upon pickup, all of our delicate items were already wrapped and packaged up. Rachel asked that we open each package and inspect everything. All items were as described and just as pictured. As in all franchises, you have your good and bad. Rachel is part of the good!
Not a trustworthy site or bidders. When I picked up in Milwaukee my door handle was broken by somebody while I was inside. I called and spoke to Kim and asked if she had cameras. No! She then mentioned there's a bike trail right next to the building! How damn convenient! The door handle will cost me way more than what I picked up. Waste of time, energy and money.

Do not buy from Moore Ok. The lady's last name is Gonzolas. She said they charge 15 dollars to pick up the item. My item was kitchen spatulas etc. Outrageous. I cancelled my item and she said she would give me half of my bid $ back but have not heard from her. I think I should get it all back. So they charge 15$ per pickup per person...wow. CTBIDS OKLAHOMA MOORE

Moore Oklahoma....bad business

This is a horrible place for you to go for your loved ones estate. They are liars and destroy your things. Use someone else's for your own good.
Tip for consumers:
Northers Virginia, Utah many of them all over the country don’t care what you get for your money. You still have to pay shipping even when everything is broken.

I have ordered from 28 ctbid companies and they don’t care how they pack there items they send glass in paper. At least 20. Boxes have been completely broken antiques everything. Then your stuck paying the bill. Horrible.! No customer service.
I purchased earrings and it took over a month to receive them. I had to email or call to get them to create a shipping invoice, then to put the charge through on my credit card, then to create a shipping label, and even then it took nine days, two emails, and a complaint to CTBIDS customer support for them to finally take it to the post office. Never once did they answer my emails or phone calls.

I often bid on CT bids in Charleston South Carolina. I have had nothing but great experience with them. Items are always as described and sometimes they are even boxed up and ready to go when my husband picks up.
When you purchase items you intend to ship they do not give you any indicationof what shipping might cost but claim it will be fair. When you win the item they take your money for the item immediately. Then a few days later they tell you the shipping cost. You either pay that or forfeit the original cost of the item. They charged me TWENTY DOLLARS to ship 12 small coins! This website is an absolute SCAM! Avoid at all costs!
Not happy with my purchases or the service provided at pick up. Auction lot had one photo of several items. No description, no condition of items in the lot. Several of the dishes are chipped or cracked. Why not mention that in your listing, or take photos of the chips? One dish in particular pictured had the chips turned to the back in the photo. If things are damaged you need to let people know. Pick up was hectic to say the least. There should have only been four people at pick up, but everyone came at once instead of their scheduled time. Then she slapped the ticket on the table with a pen, didn't tell me where to sign or what I was signing. I asked how I was supposed to get out and she barked one second. And slapped a peice of tape with a number on it. I said ok, so I put this in the key pad? Yes. I said ok, well that car is blocking the drive, so how do I get out. OH well I guess you wait. OK, what about you ask the car to move over and park where you asked people to park in the email...you know you asked people not to block the drive...but hey I'll just sit here and wait to miss thang to move.

One of my least favorite duties of my job is warehousing, staging, pricing, and executing the sale/auction of item. It is chaotic, frustrating, and a lot of work! CTBids is very organized and they safely control every process. You win a bid, next day you get an email telling you how to pay. Once payment is made, you receive an email asking you to schedule a pickup time. Then you get an email letting you know the address. Everytime I have contacted the auction representative to ask a question, the exchange came with a quick, personable reply. I have had 3 different pickups so far and all were smooth. The only negative part to their process I have found is the auction will extend if a bidding war is in progress. You MUST be watching when time is running out and be prepared to up your bid even after the clock hits 0.
Overall this is fun site, run by pros.
We have been buying from CTBids for years; first when they held the live in person sales and then due to COVID online, we have purchased a lot of great items and at great prices.
We recently bought a huge lot from Connecticut CT Bids. And had to travel Almost 5 hours, the seller had sold one of my items to someone else, luckily I waited around to get it back since they didn't offer a refund, just expected me to walk away; I won't travel outside of my local Caring Transitions Auctions again, it's too risky, they won't provide boxes or even newspaper to wrap our breakables.
Tip for consumers:
Honesty and Trust! Add more details to your listings and Never sell items before the buyers arrive to pick them up!!

Worst site I have ever used. They retracted all my bids on a recent auction claiming I wasn't a verified user even though they have my credit card on file and a customer service representative even called me a couple weeks ago. Avoid at all costs.

FALSE ADVERTISING …
50 Chevy Fleetline advertised as;
1.) FALSE: Rebuilt engine 6-months ago, less than 20 hours on new engine.
FACT: Engine has worn out distributor, cam & valve train issues … but has NOT been rebuilt
2.) FALSE: New paint within 3-months.
FACT: My friend painted his car almost 3 yrs ago.
3.) FALSE: New throttle, pressure plate, clutch, throw out bearing.
FACT: throttle & clutch have only been adjusted.
Also NOT new, Fenton exhaust, it was on the car when he bought it, I was there when he bought the car. Johnny did replace the brakes & new wheel cylinders.
The owner was a friend & neighbor for over 36 years before his passing and would be appalled to know CTBIDS is lying to inflate its value!
They also have coworkers bid on items to run up the price.
This was my first experience and won't be my last. Everything I won at auction was exactly as described. My in-law's are thrilled with their TV! I have been telling all my friends about it and can't wait for the next one! The people running the auction are so nice and helpful. They really make the adventure even more fun!
Thank-you So much!

Tip for consumers:
If you find something you like just bid the highest amount you are willing to pay for it. I love how they text you if you been outbid.

Had a problem with one of their franchises not shipping items I've won. Ctbids themselves have brain dead support that didn't help at all and stopped responding and started playing dumb. Not only are a lot of the franchises garbage, ctbids themselves are garbage and should be shut down
Everything is good about the citibids side except the auction timing which is add 3 minutes every time you get out of bid which is not considered as an auction like eBay or other auction sites that takes the higher bid automatically in the last second, also l noticed a lot of shill bidding on some local auctions which is the whole family can bid on their items and drive prices they want for with no problem as it's not controlled as well, that's the the second negative thing about Ctbids site otherwise everything works fine
Tip for consumers:
Just wishing they stop adding time after the auction time ends and hopefully they can fix the SHILL Bidding issue by controlling the IP addresses and accounts.

BEWARE- YOU PAY ALOT FOR SHIPPING AND THEY THROW EVERYTHING IN A BOX NO PROTECTION AND IT COMES ALL BROKEN AND THEY DONT CARE! BEWARE OF JERROLL- PLUS NO CREDIT FOR BROKEN PIECES THAT IS THEIR FAULT - WHEN YOU PURCHASE SOMETHING FROM SOMEONE THEY SHOULD PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT - THEY DO NOT CARE- THEY SAY THEY HAD USPS PACKAGE IT - AND IT CAME IN A UHAUL BOX AND NO TAPE ON THE FLIMSY BOX AND LOST MOST ITEMS FROM THE HANDLE HOLE -
They Have froze me from bidding unfairly. I do not what to bid on their junk,.But to block me from other auctions Is Unfair.I Have been a good customer and have a good record before these two came in to town. V/R David Hawkins
I won many items this month for my store. Many orders arrived broken after paying HUGE shipping prices. Your dealing with some people that are unrated and don't know what they are selling. You don't know who your buying from i just won 4 antique decanters cut crystal. They packed them in paper one next to the other and a few other items I won and everything was broken into pieces.
Tip for consumers:
There are a small handful of good sellers but note many

None broken! 50 orders waiting
Description of item was completely wrong, they charge for everything $10. Just to drop off at a shipping center. When I tried to work something out. (Being a nice guy) they only screenshot their shipping policy. Not once acknowledged there fault. Anyways stay away at least the CT in VA.
I was bidding on 10 lots. I ended up winning them all. Unfortunately I only received 8 as 2 lots of items were LOST. I was offered my $ back, but not the point! When I arrived for pick up the directions were null and there was NO signage. The lots I won were in boxes with other peoples stuff. We had to search for my stuff and never found 2 lots. I will never attend another auction with this seller, It was so badly organized. Buyer beware and check your stuff. One of the lots I won was sealed in a box and MISSING 4 items. Open your boxes and check everything!
I paid their invoice and opted to have the items ship. The items were never shipped and there was no communication. If you do take the chance and buy from them, use paypal as they refunded my money. This is the info for whom I dealt with:

Not buying from them anymore, I used to buy since 6 years ago but now the charge $10 to $20 for "handling" plus shipping. Don't get me wrong, I know shipping has gone up buy last time, shipping 2 cuffs and a pin (maybe 8 oz total lot weigh at most and each cuff no larger than 3" x 1") the "shipping charge was $29.90 and not shipped carefully just put in a plastic bag with paper on top and bottom.
They specify "Shipping is expensive" instead they should say "Shipping has increased but we will overcharge you"
Be careful if you buy and need shipping, once you buy you don't have another option than pay or lose your items
This is a franchise outfit, so every person running them works as they see fit. That being said, some auctions are run better than others and some owners are more honest. I buy at CT auctions all the time for resale, BUT, I only buy from certain owners. Chris in Springfield, MA is honest, gives discriptions and points out defects. She runs picker sales that are great with leftovers. I have never been disappointed. However, I have stopped buying from other francisers for the reasons I stay with Chris. We do estate sales ourselved, in person only, and you need to be honest with the items conditions and not rip people off. We buy at auctions for deals, and if buyers feel ripped off, they get the very bad reviews listed here. The only reason I did not give a higher rating, Chris deserves all staes but other francise owners I no longer deal with. CT bids needs to vet owners better. BTW, people have complained about extending the auctions adter end time. I prefer that, stops bid snipping where someone can lurk to a couple seconds and steal an item from someone who was in from the start.
When I was in a pickle and needed to clear out some of my moms stuff after she passed away, they were there for me. Not that it's been over a year and a half, I'm slowly helping my dad rebuild his life by buying him new furniture and all kinds of items. I believe in repurposing all that we can. CTbids allows the world to be a little bit more green. We just got pops a great new car. Sometimes I buy at two auctions and when my pickup times overlap, they are great at working with me!
I have been screwed over time after time by this website. Each seller is allowed to make their own policies which are hidden in an essay of text below the listings. Be prepared to follow these policies to a tee or these sellers will keep your purchase and your money. Many sellers charge ridiculous shipping and handling fees. The shipping costs are not disclosed on the listing and they can charge you whatever they want after you have purchased an item. Be prepared to pay 25+ dollars for shipping on even the smallest of lots.
My final straw for this website was when I had something come up and I was unable to make an auction pickup, the seller donated 80$ dollars worth of purchases and kept my money. I had been a loyal customer for this particular branch of CT bids for many months and they did not hesitate to throw me under the bus. As far as I can tell the website has no protection for buyers in situations like this.
With sellers being allowed to do whatever they want and no protection for buyers from CT bids I have decided that this website is just not worth the risk.
