We tried to find a place to rent. 23 of the 30 places we checked into were scams. When contacting CL, they refused to remove scam ads. They are no better than online mafia knowingly facilitating online crime.
The site is an absolute joke. Over the years it has been involved in prostitution, solicitation, and murder. Now the site wants to charge employers a fee to post job openings. Yeah, cool, I will give you money to have the bottom of the barrel contact me for a job that they will undoubtedly be unable to perform. Thanks craigslist, you should go back to murder and prostitution.
At best, you'll be dealing with a 90's themed website (basically wall of text). At worst, you'll be parted with your money without receiving a product. It's a bulletin board without too much moderation or verification, which is good and bad.
The bad: anyone can pretty much post anything; rule 34 applies. The good: sometimes humans can be good. In short, you get what you pay for, which is not very much at all.
I am out of Iowa. I used to post stuff all the time for sale, and look to find things. Now last year Craigslist started charging money to post. They got to be joking. Now not much is being posted so can't find anything. And if you do post something you get scam emails and texts all the time. Have used them for years now they are a joke will use different sites now.
Hired this contractor-- did good at the start then he never came back and finished the job-- its been 6 weeks and no-show--- had to get someone else to finish the job--- I will never use them again ----- just be cautious on this one. There name is Ray Smith, from Athens/Florence area.
I was disappointed when I saw this:
"US Congress just passed HR 1865, "FOSTA", seeking to subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully.
Any tool or service can be misused. We can't take such risk without jeopardizing all our other services, so we are regretfully taking craigslist personals offline. Hopefully we can bring them back some day.
To the millions of spouses, partners, and couples who met through craigslist, we wish you every happiness!"
I like Craigslist but every user just has to be careful of scams. It's not Craigslists fault because they can't control everything that happens on their site.
I have used it to sell my furniture, electronics and clothes. I sold an iphone for $500. I met the person at a Starbucks and had no problems. When selling an expensive item make sure you meet in a public place and ask them to pay you in small bills. I would never take a check. Occasionally you will get creeps who respond to your posting telling you that they want your item and they are willing to pay more than your asking price. Be very suspicious of these people because it's a scam. Never give out any personal information. You can read more about it on the CL site.
I've also used Craigslist for my job search and also found a couple of apartments.
Craigslist do not monitor site they leave it to users very stupid idea! I took off 53 false ads
On one page for Las Vegas thats over half they should never allow this to happen. Buyers
All want to lowball you only less than 5 percent are sincere. Many many scammers will
Try to con you quite pathetic Craigslist does nothing about it. Sellers put high prices lots
Of salvage cars with stupid prices! I have sold a number of cars here but is it worth the hassle
Probably not!
The site would be good if they took the prohibited option off. Some people like myself post real stuff and just because a web surfer isn't feeling it it will get flagged. You have people with no life who sits on the sit 24/7 flagging everybody. It should be limits to what someone can do. I posted one day saying hey world and that was it and got flagged. I hate Craigslist but the guys post $#*! and $#*! pics all day and nobody messes with the transgender folks on there just the females because they asking for something particular and these sad miserable dudes hate and flag... Ugh
I posted in 3 different areas simple post for my pug puppies just simple contact info no pricing get flagged and removed every single time yet there are people with pictures and $2000 dollar prce tags all over the place this site is BS the puppy mills run rampant on here and flag your post for greed whoever owns this company is seriously screwed up I wont shop or post with Craigslist ever again I hope your site crashes and burns no images because they flagged all attempts to find suitable homes for my babies craigslist blows
This is one of the worse classifieds to post on. If you don't like your $ they simply flag your ad and its removed. The barter section is a complete job as well, you turn an offer down your ads removed. They take that click pay to the extreme and I'm done. There are plenty of other places to post. If your smart avoid craigslist.
This is a great free advertisement service. I use it to find potential clients and to post ads. It works good for me. For users is nice, that you can create ad without using your personal information. You will be contacted only with Craigslist email service. It helps to avoid spam. Great find.
Posting on Craigslist is a joke. You spent a half hour making an ad, only for it to get flagged and removed nearly immediately by trolls, since Craigslist let's everyone and their mother flag ads without reason. You try contacting Craigslist about the issue and they're too good to even reply. If you're lucky enough for your ad to not get flagged two minutes after you post it, you will get contacted by nothing but spammers, scammers, and time wasters. All the people who claim to be interested in buying or even taking something for free are "no shows", and aren't even kind enough to tell you they changed your mind. You'll wait around all day for people to never show up. Conversely, buying is a nightmare as well. People never respond to their ads, which leads you to wonder why they put one up in the first place if they have no intention to sell. And don't even get me started on all the puppy mill and other inappropriate ads Craigslist doesn't remove.
Used to be great and it's still pretty good for finding things. Their fee to post things now seems to go directly against the reason it was created and shows how greedy organizations become. Like many people with not much money, I will not be selling anything through Craiglist anymore
Ive been using craigslist for years and for the most part successfully. However in the last year (2013-2014) it has been nothing but a nightmare. They delete my ads before they even get posted, over an over again, they will not let me run more than one ad. This is stupid. I contact them but as everyone knows there is no actual person only a computer, so that gets me nothing. Its like their computer is stuck on stupid and does not know what the goal of their site is. Yet, every day I see page after page of the same ad posted over and over again by the same person as if they're stuck on stupid. This makes no sense. May I suggest that someone come up with another site like Craigslist but without all the stupid problems. And just so you know, I would be more than happy to pay a small fee for each of my ads that I post. Please get rid of Craigslist. Apple, if you have 3Billion to buy Beats then why don't you invest in the public and create a site similar to Craigslist?
I posted for work in music for lyrics writing and every reply was from perverts. Sure a couple started off with music related conversation via email but sooner or later I would be asked if I wanted to get sexual or dress up sexy... uh wtf! I'm done with Craigslist.
Free ads, mostly nice people, you must stay in control of the transaction. If you must ship something Use U.S. postal money orders only. Cash and ship at same time.IF you cant talk to the buyer or seller STAY AWAY. Love it.
I replied via email to an ad selling satin drapes stating I was very interested and were they still available. Received an email back stating yes and what area of town she lived in. Sent my home phone number asking her to call and let me know where and when because I wanted them. She sent a text to my home phone that I could not understand. (It's read to you by a machine) I replied and asked that she call me. She sent 2 more text. This went on for a while until I finally told her nothing was worth this aggravation. I also replied to another ad and item was still available; she had to talk to her mom and get back with me... never heard back. I did enjoy shopping on that site... not so much anymore.
I have mixed feelings on Craig's List. It is indeed a quick and easy way to post things you have for sale or services. It also can be somewhat of a disaster because it is so easy to set up a fraudlant account. Craig's List went downhill with me when I learned they were allowed sex trafficking ads in their Adult Section. A decent site that is useful at times but they need some stronger guidelines.
Craigslist is terrific! You can buy, sell and trade practically everything! Not to mention meet some real interesting creepers. Their jobs could use a little upgrade though... maybe they could use something like http://stusjobs.com and post job listings for free and list jobs my location.
Answer: Because the dealers pay them. Craigslist has turned into a spammers haven. There are next to no real postings left. The scammers flag real postings so their ads get priority. Its a dead site.
Craigslist has a rating of 1.8 stars from 513 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Craigslist most frequently mention customer service, several times and phone number. Craigslist ranks 188th among Classifieds sites.
