How do we get our money or movies? My daughter and I discussed, at great debate, the perfect movie to watch tonight. We agreed on a movie that we had spent Real Money on for a digital copy years ago on CinemaNow. We no longer have access to our library of movies with CinemaNow. We could have purchased hard copies. Maybe we will in the future. Did CinemaNow destroy customer digital value?

SD movies are ridiculously expensive (4.99+ tax) and VHS (or worse) quality. Customer service is slow and really difficult. Have to enter a credit card just to redeem a gift certificate. Just a huge hassle really. No wonder people download movies with such terrible options like CinemaNow.

Watched 5 mins of World War Z in "SD". Stopped because it was unwatchable on my HD TV. Had to fight to get the movie taken off and instead of a credit, they gave me "Coupon code" which didn't work... then they sent me another coupon code which didn't work. They have no way at the call center to credit accounts, add movies etc. Only remove movies. So frustrating.

This is absolutely unacceptable! Hundreds of dollars GONE for movies we are no longer able to access! Every time I email I get really shady responses! The last was assuring me they weren't out of business (when I didn't even ask) and they were trying to get the issue fixed! I'm all in for a lawsuit!

Stay away...
January 2, 2015

Stay away... Rented a movie and couldn't finish it because of server issues. Movie was disrupted several times and then stopped playing all together. I kept getting a message to try again later. Tried for excess of an hour, but couldn't recover it.

HD is poor and rentals are expensive.

The quality of the experience is simply not there, they couldn't deliver on the order and the cost is high. Not much more that could get screwed up during a simple movie rental.

Best Buy CinemaNow is another movie site. "Roxio" CinemaNow is partnered with DivX.

You can rent or purchase movies and TV shows from the site. No subscription, the site works with credits that you can purchase online from the site or by purchasing credits (on cards like Napster) from Best Buy.

Movies watched on your PC use the DivX player, which you have to download and set up an account with. The Xbox uses the RoxioNow powered store on the Xbox. The PS3 can be registered to use the DivX, or the movies have to be burned to a CD or DVD to play them on the PS3.

From what I read on the site, the only mobile devices that are capable of playing the movies are the Samsung P2 media player, and just about every Archos tablet/camcorder/media player. Too many Archos devices to list. You can "Browse" the site from your phone, but cannot play the movies.

Movie rentals can be downloaded to your compatible device (PC, Xbox, PS3, HDTV, Blu-ray player). Rentals must be viewed within 24 hours of pressing the play button. Rentals can be kept for up to 30 days if you don't press play to start watching it.

Movies that are purchased don't expire and can be used on up to 5 different devices.

I haven't purchased any movies yet, but there is an extra $1.99 charge (in addition to the credits you use) on your credit card for the download. The site's explanation is "Per the instructions on the Digital Copy insert included with your DVD, there is a $1.99 charge for downloading a digital copy of the DVD you purchased. The download is of the movie only and does not include special features or extra language options and cannot be downloaded without paying the $1.99." I'll keep an eye out for that one when I pick a movie to purchase.

The audio and video quality of the rentals is really good, and there is a pretty decent selection of movies to rent and purchase. This will be another site I use if there's a brand new, just came out movie that I can't wait for on Netflix.

Beyond livid
September 11, 2017

I just found that I can not retrieve my library collection of movies and tv shows. I had at least a 100+ since joining them back in 2009/10. It's app was available on ps3 and access over your computer what could ever go wrong? With licences purchased with each and every movie and tv show should be transferred to a supported digital movie and tv site app. Vudu doesn't carry all the movies or tv shows. Digital licences are to be transferable. Even if that company goes in the crapper. How do I retrieve them all? Yes a lawsuit is in order. Hundreds of dollars lost of movies and tv shows.

A total joke
April 18, 2014

A total joke. I downloaded a movie, then when I wanted to start watching it I immediately got an error message. I tried to "live chat" (during the listed hours) and soon gotta message saying no one was available. So I sent an email and soon got an e-mail back that completely ignored my question. The e-mail said to contact them if I needed any further assistance, so I sent a "reply" e-mail that repeated my question. Of course, the e-mail bounced!

Avoid this site at all costs.

Cannot access all of my movies that initially were transferred through Target Ticket. Found this website out http://m.ripoffreport.com/reports/cinemanow/internet/cinemanow-best-buy-theft-of-5-movies-from-my-account-with-out-a-refund-or-notification-int-*******
It appears that there are a lot of frustrated people out there.

There needs to be a class action in progress for all the folks you ripped off. Target, Best Buy and whomever else need to be held to account for this!

I would give this site less than 1 star if I could. Pain in the butt just trying to set up an account. When trying to set it up on the TV, the site cuts out and you have to try and start all over again. I should have realized something was wrong the minute I went onto the website and safari warned me about the site. I'm just thankful that I never got the chance to get far enough to enter credit card information.

Just avoid the hassle and wait for the movie to come out on pay-per-view.

Cinemanow
September 3, 2017

Oh no I was worried about this but I'm extra disappointed now that I see so many people are struggling with the same problem. I wrote them another email and I didn't even get a response this time. I bought a lot of movies in the past 4 years. And I used cinemanow to findmovies I couldn't find anywhere else. This is so sad

Terrible. Barnes and Noble took my movies and moved them to cinema now. Then gave me credit for purchases that cinema now did not offer. Now my movies and credit are missing. Can't even log into cinema now. How do we report this company to somebody. This is not right!

I, too, am one of many (it appears) that can no longer access my purchased movies on Cinemanow. When I emailed Customer Service for assistance, there was no response. I want my movies or I want my money back. Class action suit? COUNT ME IN!

Furiously disappointed
February 25, 2016

Furiously disappointed. I hate spending money on episodes then it tells me that I can't play it because someone else is watching it or I don't have licences. Bull. Then I download it and all it gives me is audio and a black screen

Looks the Cinema Now is finally dead. See lots of pissed off folks who lost credits and movies. I would suggest until the class action folks attempt to retrieve your UV copies by creating an account at VUDU like i did:

https://uvgrab.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/*******020-link-ultraviolet-account-to-vudu

It appears i only lost several movies out of the several hundred UV ones I currently have.

Some $#*!ty company buys the URL and the consumer loses. This just seems ridiculous just so people will try and subscribe to this $#*!ty TV/DVR thing that can't compete with any other company anyways. DON'T SUPPORT THEM!

Lost Movies
April 26, 2015

I had 18 movies on Target Ticket and followed the merger process exactly. Even have confirmation screen shots of migrated titles. However, I have been emailing them for a month now trying to gain access to those movies. They do not appear in the UV account or CinemaNow account and both companies have been given me the run around, telling me 3 times to clear my cache, delete cookies, unlink, and relink.

I have sent screen shots of the titles that should've been moved, and they tell me I used a different email address that the one on my screenshots. I cannot reenter my redemption codes for some of these movies because they were previously redeemed through Target Ticket. Very upset and dissatisfied with the customer service provided

Rented two movies over the weekend from Cinemanow through an LG blue-ray device and had the worst experience of my life. Kept getting an error that the device could not connect to server and/or the device has been deactivated. Had to reactivated and rebooted the device several times to get it to work. Cinemanow's website would extremely slow and at one point I timed it at over 4 minutes to respond to the home screen which should have been cached since I had been to it several times. Even when the device would connect, I would get the spinning 'wait' wheel several times. It was way worse than watching broadcast TV with commercials. I finally gave up and went to Amazon to rent the move and there realized Amazon had a much larger selection of new releases.
