Paid Online School Scam
December 16, 2021

Teachers only teach subjects for one hour per week live per subject. The kids get different assignments with each subject on different topics everyday. I have transferred my son to K12 which has teachers teach live everyday with homework help daily. Daily assignments parallel weekly topics.

PEARSON IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY AS PARENTS WILL END UP BEING THE STUDENT'S TEACHER (FULL-TIME).

I have seen so many reviews and I am absolutely astounded. I see a lot of "Too much work"... considering the alternative of a regular school (going for 7-8 hours and then 2 hours of homework each night, connections is less time and work for sure). There is so much flexibility in schedule. Your child can work when they are more alert and ready. My son is more of an afternoon/evening person, so that is when he completes most of his work and can take as long as he needs to do the work. My son is in his junior year and second year with Connections. My son was failing in regular school and getting bullied everyday. He was unable to focus on his school work with all of the distractions. I am proud to say that he is now receiving a quality education. I have never had a teacher that was not willing and eager to help with any situation. They are wonderful and well qualified. To sum up: This is your child(ren)s education. They need to be working hard and spending a reasonable amount of time doing it. If you want your child to have a quality education with out outside distractions, Connections Academy is a perfect choice!

Yes the teachers help your child if needed yes you can do school at your own pace BUT this online school has given my 13 year old anxiety that if she dose not get out of the house once a day she has a mental break down that she is worthless and dose not do anything. Another thing that is wrong with this online school is that if you start late you have to do all the lessons that you "missed" because you were not registered yet. Even if you tell the teachers the reason why your child has not been doing their school work they won't do ANYTHING about it they will say "okay well she just has to catch up" WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL never make your kid do this terrible school save your kids from this hell of an online school.

Great School with a Supportive Staff
April 22, 2023

My son has thrived far more in this school than he did in his previous district. He enjoys the activities and the live lessons as well as the freedoms that come with at-home learning.

A positive place
March 19, 2024

My 10 year old daughter started 5th grade with Connections Academy, because of bullying, lack of a positive environment, and lack of learning in her brick and mortar school. Connections Academy means that the parent is more involved and knows what is going on. I see what my child is learning and where she is struggling. I am actually able to help her. My child was depressed in a brick and mortar school. As our first year at Connections Academy went on, she is happier and has actually started to say that she is no longer depressed. High marks for Connections Academy, because my child is now in a positive environment where she is able to learn. Her teacher, Mr. Dominick, is phenomenal with the children. He works very hard to virtually give the children social times as well as helping them when they have trouble with school work. This school is perfect for the self-starter, but it also fits well for a child who isn't a self-starter as long as the parent is able and willing to help the child through until they can learn to be more responsible. I feel very supported by the school as a parent.

What a great school
March 29, 2023

My son has been doing much better since he enrolled into the connection Academy school his work have been more better he have been excellent at doing other things that he have never done when he was in regular school this is a great school for any child to learn from teachers that help you the coaches other parents to help you and the counseling and everything is great and teachers experience with the child is very great I like how they talk with the child how they explain the assignment and how they let you know when the child is doing well or if they're needed if they any other if they need any credit recovery work the counselor will automatically let the child know that they're going to add that to their assignment for the credit recovery and teachers show them how to correct work my son and I are pleased to be at the school it's a wonderful School

My child will not return next year! These teachers accused my child of cheating but they have no proof or facts to back up their claims. When my child is working I am in the room with her monitoring what she is doing to make sure she doesn't cheat. The teachers ignore my emails, especially Mr. Harrison. I've observed the live lessons and they are a waste if time. There really is much learning going on. If you look at Google reviews for Arkansas Connections Academy they deleted 5 reviews made by students and parents and replaced them with reviews by the staff and faculty. Their originally score was 2.8/5 now it is a 4.8/5. This school is very shady and I am overall getting a bad vibe from this school. My daughter is in the 10th grade. She participates in class, went on a couple of field trips (which were a waste if time and only put her behind in class), and she helped organize study groups. Yet! The teacher are ignoring her and accusing her of academic dishonesty. Overall a bad school and it has only made my daughter's anxiety worse. They wrote had referral letters to this school she was interested in. What is the point of writing a referral letter if it is going to be bad. I feel like the teacher don't care enough. The only good teachers are Mark Reider and Melissa Curiel, everyone else acts weird and kinda hostile towards me and my daughter.

The curriculumn is very complete and they focus on what students should know. The flexibility of schedule is also very nice. Having your kids study at home betters the parent/child relation 100%.

Outstanding Teachers
October 3, 2019

Our son started with Florida Connections Academy when it was part of the Florida Virtual School program, four years ago. He started kindergarten with Mrs. Schlenker, and then had Mrs. Helms, Mrs. Gill as teachers. This year his teacher is Mrs. Varner, but there's a whole team of teachers who offer support. We absolutely love the school, and the staff. They're quick to answer emails/texts, and are extra supportive.

The workload is manageable, as long as your student does the required lessons every day. Usually, when there's a Field trip, or we have a doctor's appointment, I make sure that we advance lessons, so that day's lessons are done, as it's easy to fall quickly behind if you don't do that. Except for core courses, the other lessons are spread out, so the students don't end up to do too much in one day. We work 20 hours per week, which is what is required for Elementary school students, though we might work a few extra hours when there are written portfolios requested by the teachers.

Overall the quality of the lessons so far is outstanding, and our gifted son has found the support needed to challenge him and keep him focused. The extra advance lessons provided by the Math and English teachers where he can view his peers, and join debates, and a classroom like environment is truly amazing.

I think Connections is a great school, but for it to work, students must put in the work needed so they can succeed at it.

When it comes to a student that is in need of Special Ed services, this is the worst school for them to attend. My son's Special Ed teacher, Ms. Brandon, was impossible to reach, whether it be voicemail, email, or text. When she did reach out she proved to be extremely disorganized. I explained multiple times that my son was placed in the wrong classes preventing from catching in reading, writing and spelling. She continued to ignore me. I reported the continuous issue to Ms. Noto, the principal, still with no success. We never did hear from the speech therapist that was appointed to my son nor do we know the therapist's name. I even informed the director of Special Ed who also ignored my concerns. My son attended that joke of a school for over a month until I couldn't take the negligence and incompetence any longer. Arizona Connections Academy is a joke and an embarrassment to this State's educational system. I'm seeking council from Arizona Center for Disability Law due to the advice from a considerable amount of people who know about the freak show that Connections Academy has put me through. It's absolutely disgusting what they did to an innocent 9 yr old little boy. They had him so stressed out and in tears.

Hello Lauren. First, I would like to apologize for my for delay in responding. It’s important to us to take the time to follow up with families directly regarding their experiences. We are committed to serving students with different needs, and many special education students thrive at Arizona Connections Academy. I’m very sorry to hear that you feel differently. While we can’t discuss the specifics of any student’s education plan on a public forum, I can assure you that I’ve shared your feedback with school administrators. It is 2 business days from the start of 2020 school year for my daughter and she still isn't enrolled. I have been submitting documents for 3 months and they either state there is an issue with the document or they end up not being processed by the enrollment dept. So far, today I have been on the phone with them for 50 minutes. The rep on the phone doesn't see why she shouldn't have been enrolled yet because she says all documentation appears to be correct. So I'm being transferred for the 3rd time to someone else. It is literally 2 business days away from the start of school and no one has called me to place my daughter in her classes or help us with this. I am very worried that we will not have her enrolled by the time school starts (even though this process started 3 months ago!). If by the end of this call we have not resolved the enrollment nightmare, I will be deleting her account and trying another online school. Hopefully I will be able to enroll her in another school in 2 business days. This company has completely wasted 3 months of my time, but I feel like I might have dodged a bullet. If it's this hard to enroll her, I can't imagine the problems we will have when we start trying to download completed lessons, etc.

Hello Sara. I apologize for my delay in responding here and for the frustration you experienced during enrollment. As you can imagine, the ongoing public health crisis generated unprecedented interest in online school. The overwhelming increase in applications resulted in a longer enrollment process for some, which is not at all what we want for our families. I hope your daughter has settled into the 2020-21 school year and I wish you both the best during this challenging time. ~Kim

BEWARE OF THIS ONE!

They lock down lessons and mark your student absent for the 0's they give even if the student takes 9 hours to try to complete and doesn't make it! Then they will call truancy of absences even though the student is trying to complete the ridiculous amount of work they give! They change parents hours to 0 hours so it looks like student wasn't attending! AVOID THIS SCHOOL AT ALL COST! Especially if your child is disabled because it WILL CAUSE SEVERE ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION FOR THE DISABLED! And, good luck trying to get paperwork to transfer, as this is also a nightmare from this school! Please do not put your children in this school! From Parent!

Too much work for parents and students! If you don't keep up they will lock down all lessons instead of skipping one and moving on! Then when you get WAY behind (because of them) they will kick you out and make if hard to find another school! Avoid at all cost!

This program is for independent learning online WITH THE HELP OF PARENTS and the online teachers.
The program is great for students who are FOCUSED ON EDUCATION not expecting to roll out of bed and make an A.
Home school is not for everyone.
I love it because I can go into the lessons with my child and see what activities are available and how to help.
No parent should ever depend on their kids to roll out of bed turn on computer and with little or no effort demand an A.
Not one parent confessed they were involved with the lessons they complain about.
