We removed our son from a public school after the at teacher called him Rudy. Our sons name is Marcus. He was referring to the movie Rudy. Bullying is bad enough when it is child on child but when it is teacher in child it is unacceptable. Our experience with Connections Academy has been amazing. Thank you!
A lot of the teachers here a very nice I have just started im pretty smart the only subject im a little bad at is math and the teacher are very helpful and there's free tutoring Monday-Friday so you can get better at a subject for example for me its math also test/quizzes etc are almost graded immediately
Hi Massiah. I’m so glad to hear that you’re having a good start to the school year. I love that you’re taking advantage of tutoring resources for extra help! Have a great school year! ~Kim
Our 8 years with Ohio Connections Academy has been everything we hoped for. The academics and curriculum are on par with brick and mortar schools. The teachers are always exceptional and put the students first. The therapists are always highly qualified and dedicated to the children they help. All of the staff are very dedicated and do everything they can to provide an excellent education for the children that are part of the new modern way of providing education for your children in a flexible environment. We are highly satisfied and plan to continue with Connections Academy until graduation.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review of Ohio Connections Academy, Lucinda! We're honored to have been able to provide your family with an education for eight years and look forward to the coming years! ~Alexis
Honestly all these reviews confuse me switching to connexus was the best choice my mom and i could have made the teachers are so willing to help and will contact you if they have concerns and will always help you as long as you put in the effort and contact them. The fact that i can do my lessons on my schedule and still have a life during the day and working in the evening and night is always great. I can't explain how much i appreciate this school for making me interested in learning again after losing all interest in school because of bullying in brick & mortar school i really love how amazing they are.
I have enrolled my daughter here for about one year and we are definitely returning because they are so flexible and kind! The lessons are engaging and educational. I 100% recommend this online school for students.
Hi Guadalupe, We love to hear that your first year at our school has been so great and that you'll be returning! Thank you for sharing! ~Alexis
My daughter atrends this school and we both absolutely love it. The teachers stay in touch, yes they call your house, and there are many field trips for the children. Communication is NOT a problem with Connections. This school is very involved with its students. Do not enroll if you think it will be easy. You have to attend live lessons on the computer, you have to talk to your teacher, and you have to treat this as if you get up and go to a school every single day. There are many clubs, field trips, etc. for the students. They definitely can stay social with other sudents if they want to. I feel like my daughter gets one on one attention and help when she needs it. We have never had a problem at this school.
Unfortunately, this school is not what it seems. On its main page, it says "oh opportunities to socalize and make friends, but that is not true. I am in 12th grade, finishing up my year at this school and I have been unable to make any friends since the teachers are all ways like, "We will have to close chat if you guys don't stop sharing social links and the like." The teachers and the policies of 'not being able to share outside contact information is unfortunately too strict, and this has and will lead to friendships being broken since we are unable to stay in contact with others in the school, due to the teachers explicit directions of "NOT sharing social links and other contact information." If you are looking for a great place to meet friends, then I wouldn't recommend doing this school.
I was considering Connections Academy for my son, but ended up deciding it was not a good fit. I had inquired information about enrolling and since then they have called me every day, sometimes twice a day, one is a recording and the other is a person, they leave minute long voice mails. They also have been sending me spam emails telling me I need to finish enrollment, even though I have emailed them now twice stating I do not wish to enroll. Clearly something is going on here that all this school cares about is having numbers, no other school has spammed my phone and email after simple inquiry. I won't recommend this school based solely on the fact that they won't stop calling and emailing me to try to convince me to enroll, they don't care about students, they care about numbers, like any other public school.
I'm so happy to have found tecca I wish I knew of it earlier. My student and I are very happy with the school. They give just the right amount of work and always have support in place if needed. Staff is great and supportive. Easy to navigate website and great communication. If your thinking about enrolling I highly recommend
Hi Tricia, We're happy you found TECCA, too! We love that our school has been able to provide you and your student with the right amount of support and communication. Thank you for your review! ~Alexis
I'm a single parent. I put all my time and money into things like Web Cams and computers for my daughter and I all I got was the run around from this school. I couldn't even get through the enrollment process, they just ran me in circles.
Hi Paula. I’m very sorry to hear that we were unable to meet your student’s needs for the 2020-21 school year. I’d be happy to share feedback with the enrollment team if you’d like to send me an email at community@connectionsacademy.com.
I would like to take the time to say that I really love Connections Academy. My son has learned so much. It took us a while to adjust. But now we gave a routine down. My son Joshua (1st grade) has blissomed. Fir the most part he lives the learning a activities. The curriculum is wonderful. The teachers are there whenever you have a question. It's a great place for kuds and parents to learn together.
Hi Stephanie. Thank you for your kind words, we are so glad to hear that your family loves Connections Academy! ~Regina
I began to enroll my daughter into the Tennessee Connections. My first account was deactivated. I called their number and waited 90 minutes to talk with someone. Before hanging up, he said he would reactivate my account, but never did. I set up another account, scanned and uploaded all the required documents. Two days later, they deactivated that account. Again, no explanation or reason given whatsoever. I give up. From waiting on the phone for over an hour to talk with someone, to no explanation as to why they deactivated my accounts, and the poor response of supposed professionals when I sent emails to them explaining my situation and only 1 out of 7 responded. The response I did receive was of no help and she offered no other resources, direction, or action in which I could take. Based on these facts, not only should you not have your child enroll here, but this institution needs to be looked into by the Tennessee Board of Education.
Hello Ted. My apologies for my delayed response. I am sorry to hear that you did not have a good enrollment experience, and I would be happy to review your account. Please send me an email at community@connectionsacademy.com if you would like me to do that. I hope that your family found a school solution that is working well for you. ~Kim
Connections academy has been a life saver. My son isn't the best student, and school definitely isn't his favorite thing, but his teachers have been the best. They have encouraged him along the way and have been there for me every time I needed them. Thanks!
Hi Trisa, Our teachers are the cornerstone of our schools and it's great to see that their hard work isn't going unnoticed. We are so happy to hear that your son has been getting the support he needs. Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback! ~Alexis
I love it. I've started homeschooling my eighth grader half way through the school year for multiple reasons. I understand some of the negative reviews but some of it sounds like complaining and excuses for not succeeding. Some of the work is hard and some is super easy, just like in public school. Homeschool is not supposed to be an easy way out. You can do it as long as you stay on top of your schedule and correspond with your child's teacher on a regular basis, like you would in a public school setting. You have to be organized so assignments don't pile up, and show your child the best way to navigate the system for them. If you and your child are not focused on the education, problems would arise, I''m sure of it. Now my daughter is thriving and our relationship has gotten closer because of North Carolina Connections Academy. I would would recommend to anyone.
Connections Academy has been a perfect fit for our family. My 7th grader is doing much better with the virtual format versus the physical format. The teachers are very responsive and the applications are easy to navigate.
Hi Sara, We understand that not all students learn the same and that some excel in an online environment. We're happy to hear that your student has been able to thrive at our school! ~Alexis
My son is 5th grade special education and his education here is amazing! His reading jumped two grade levels in the span of 7 months. He doesn't miss any school for all of his doctors appointments being a kidney transplant kid. I also have a 9th grader. It took us while to get a good Homeroom teacher (3 minutes old ones). Her new one is amazing! She is way head of her friends in our brick and mortar school here.
Hi Sarah, Thank you for taking the time to leave this review! We love that we have been able to provide the flexibility your son needs. We're also happy to hear that your daughter's new homeroom teacher is so great! We wish you and your family continued success. ~Alexis
We really like it. Yes it is a lot of work and parents do need to be actively involved with lessons, but theyre much further along than he was in traditional school. Its a temporary choice for us but its definitely one I feel good about. Am I tired? Yes. Is my kid getting a good eduction? Absolutely.
Thank you for the acceptance of my son, thank you to all the teachers, they are excellent and very dedicated and are always attentive to the student, thank you for directing and guiding me in my difficult moments and when I did not know what to do there was always someone who helped me. I could guide...
This is such a heartfelt review, Maria. We're so happy to have been able to provide you and your son with an education option that allows him to reach his full potential. ~Alexis
My son has needs lots of extra help plus small group time. The staff and his case manger are awesome and are always there to help my son and the teachers have time 4 days a week open when you can schedule extra time for help one on one time as well...
We love hearing that your son has been getting the support he needs from his teachers! Thank you for sharing, Sherrie! ~Alexis
My daughter is beginning her senior year with Calif CA. She started at CCA mid sophomore year, after struggling with sleep deprivation, anxiety and working within her classes' time frame.
She thought a lot about going back to her huge high school so she could do all the senior stuff with the kids she grew up with, but the benefits of the online learning were greater.
She loves being able to do the work at whatever time each day. If she sleeps till 11:00, and starts work at 4:00 pm, that's fine! It is a lot of work, probably more than the regular high school, but she loves the style of learning.
Any time we have needed anything the teachers and staff have been fantastic. We have learned the importance of establishing a report with them through emails and occasional phone calls.
My daughter's grades are all A's and B's now. She knows what she has to do and gets it done. She is picking out colleges to apply to, and feeling positive about school thanks to this great program.
Answer: Work at your own pace is the biggest lie out there. Supplies are usually quick to arrive though.
Answer: That is a very good question Dee. We were drawn in with that promise as well. They use exampmes of child athletes and child actors (at least they did when we were going through their website looking for schooling options) as examples of how flexible their program is but we found it to be a very different experience.
Answer: Do not put your child in this program i hate it i switched to connexus i could get more time in the gym and work out i used to spend five hours in the gym in normal school but now im only limited to one hour a day because i have so much work.the teachers never respond and its horrible they dont help me and when im at gym they call then i cant i pick up so they call my parents who are at work and will get in trouble if on there phones. I hate tis school and everyone in it and your kids will to so DO NOT DO IT! 1111
Answer: Attendance is more important to the school keeping it's Charter, than making sure a student is truly on track academically. The School has no communication skills, which is why it probably attracts lazy teachers.
Answer: I find that people take the time to vent about bad experiences rather than take the time to write reviews for good experiences. If things are working, why scour the internet for reviews. Every kiddo/parent will have a different experience with Connections Academy. Like any school program, it's not going to be right for everyone, not everyone will like a teacher, or administration or class... It's a rigorous school, not a homeschool program with lots of flexibility and curriculum that can be changed. It's working for my 7th grader, but it is hard and we wouldn't be enrolled if he didn't have me to sit by him 80% of the time. Otherwise he's getting an excellent education in Oregon and we love the teachers.
Answer: Yes, you can do you your at any time. I start at 5:00am and finish at 11:00am.
Answer: Maybe once a month. The student might get a phone call from his or her homeroom teacher on a monthly basis. Other than that, unless you or the student contact the teacher individually, then the interaction is done as a whole in the Live Lesson rooms. And so much outside stuff goes on during Live Lessons, the students do not get a lot out of them.
Answer: Hi Tina, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per day), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. Outside of the LiveLesson sessions, work is done independently, and students can typically complete their schoolwork any time of the day, any day of the week. ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Malorie, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per week), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. In general, there is no set time to log in outside of the LiveLesson sessions, so students can typically work any time of the day, any day of the week. For information specific to the school(s) in your state, please email us at community@connectionsacademy.com. Thanks! ~Alexis

Hi Debra, We're sorry that Marcus had such a difficult time at his previous school, but we're grateful to hear that he's doing so well here. Thank you for your review! ~Alexis
