If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. CoFoundersLab's subscription practices are a nightmare. Not only is it near impossible to unsubscribe, but the lack of communication and transparency makes it even worse.
After signing up for their "free month," I received no confirmation email, no welcome message, and no reminder about the end of the trial or upcoming payments. Nothing. This means there's no proof of receipt, invoice, or even acknowledgment of my subscription. I canceled during the free month trial, but they still charged me for the following months.
I have now been charged twice, and the third charge is approaching. Despite emailing them more than five times using different email addresses and their supposedly designated contact links, I've received no response. When I contacted my bank, they said they couldn't do much because it's a recurring payment.
What's worse is that I'm not alone in this struggle. Many users on Trustpilot and similar platforms report the same issues with CoFoundersLab's shady practices. There's even a lawsuit alleging deceptive subscription practices.
If anyone has managed to successfully unsubscribe, please share how you did it because this is beyond frustrating. I initially signed up to connect with fellow entrepreneurs, but the platform didn't even deliver much value.
To anyone considering using CoFoundersLab, I strongly advise against it. Their lack of communication, transparency, and refusal to acknowledge cancellation requests is completely unacceptable.
1- the majority of their cofounders are bots or scammers from international countries with fake names.
2- once you pay, you can't cancel. They keep charging you for months! The cancellation button is not available. You have to send an email which they just never respond to so that they can keep charging you.
So... stay the F away from this site. Y combinator has actual people there and it's free.
The service I paid for a about a year had no merit whatsoever. The advisory board is 90% unavailable and the co-founder matching system is inefficient. When I tried to cancel my membership I was redirected to a form to submit a request which I found very odd. I waited for 4 months. No one ever bothered to respond. The contact page on the website was broken. The phone number always went on the voice mail. I even reached out through their FB page leaving a PM and comment on the page. The comment was removed right away but again they did not bother to respond to the PM. And this was when I was still getting charged. Finally, I figured out how to cancel via their website which was hidden in one of the tabs.
I'm writing this review because of the ignorance the business has towards their customer. The rest I'm sure can improve over time but this experience was undeniably very disappointing.
Complete disregard for ethical business practices. No reminder on monthly bill cycles. They hide and disable their cancellation link and then when they provide a working link they throw up a series of steps (obstacles) to actually accomplish the cancellation.
I'm sorry to have to give a negative review for CoFounderslab, but I had a terrible experience with this platform.
Firstly, my trial period ended without any warning. I did not receive any notification that my trial period was ending, and as a result, I was charged the monthly subscription fee without my consent.
Secondly, I decided to cancel my subscription after this first bad experience, but I continued to be charged on my credit card. I sent several messages to CoFounderslab's customer service, but never received any response. This situation didn't caused significant financial discomfort but left me with a very poor impression of the service offered by CoFounderslab.
In conclusion, I DO NOT recommend CoFounderslab to anyone. The customer service is terrible and their billing system is equally bad. I hope this review can help others avoid a similar situation.
Just got off an amazing networking session! Saw a lot of the reviews here but I think that's down to old management... Seems like a lot of things changing at CoFoundersLab. Found a bunch of people to connect with again!
Horrible experience with CoFoundersLab and sharing here to prevent others from falling victim to their fraud.
I signed up for "CoFounders Lab Launch" which was advertised to include premium membership to their site (similar to LinkedIn for founders giving you access to search & filter profiles).
I was never given access and reached out multiple times to their team to resolve the issue and cancel my membership (interacted with a gentleman by the name of Sean Walsh who responds to messages from their *******@cofounderslab.com inbox).
Despite paying $89, I did not receive premium membership to their site and they did not refund and did not cancel my subscription. I subsequently put a block through on my credit card. While I wasn't able to get the $89 back, it blocked subsequent transactions from CoFoundersLab.
Very disappointed in the lack of integrity and fraudulent practices of this organization.
At one time, the site wasn't bad, but they decided to upgrade it and they managed to break the most important part of the system: connecting with other cofounders. It's been like that for at least the last year. I thought maybe the problem was that I was using the free account, but I tried the premium and it was even worse. They pretend to have support with a response of "how can I help", but no one will respond after that. I requested a refund and never heard back from them.
The reason you go on the website is to find a cofounder right? Well since the find a cofounder feature is terrible, there is almost no point. It is difficult to quickly browse cofounders as their profiles do not have important information at a glance. You must open the profile in a new tab to see anything useful. 90% of the profiles are inactive, and there is no way to sort by active profiles.
They you pay just to experience how terrible the site really is and then they keep charging you month after month even though you canceled it immediately after making the mistake to enter your payment info.
I purchased their premium account. They disabled me without any communication within 2 days. I tried raising complaint via phone, email, website and messenger, they never responded. I doubt they are genuine people.
For two days (when it was working), I tried connecting with about 50 people for my startup, I still got zero responses or zero views in my profile which isn't possible unless its all fake.
I upgraded to premium, paid for 6 months and never received it. Months have gone by and I've tried just about everything to contact them but I never get a response.
I'm not the only one who has this issue. It actually seems to be very common for them.
It's had to believe that companies operate like this.
No one is active on the site, and the premium cancellation just doesn't work. Users will need to submit a form to request cancellation. What kind of bull$#*! is this. Don't waste your time guys.
Been using CoFoundersLab now for a couple of years. Recently got involved in their accelerator program and absolutely loving the new leadership there. Amazing mentors there like Steve and Seanie! Excited to see where things go!
Not even bother to rate. I attended their accelerator program spending 2,000 dollars. It's was a total waste of money, or more importantly waste of time. It was poorly organized, we didn't receive any detail information about the program in advance. When I asked them by email, they just sent me a link of their website saying, join the program. I already joined the program, i need to know the detail of it. Response was very unprofessional and the content of the courses was just something you can have on the web. Just like other reviewers say, it's not worth it.
They pretend like the service is free, but once you start engaging with people, they block you from searching with a message that says: "Want unlimited search access, direct messaging capabilities and access to potential business partners now? Upgrade to premium or wait until the start of next month to regain free access". This was unpleasant, but I waited until the next month to realize this was a scam... they don't actually give your access back. They lock you down till you pay them. Very disappointing.
Been on CFL now for about 6 months - So many things have changed - Exciting to join their new Launch Program - They just introduced me to an Investor. Had a great call - Wasn't for him but AT LAST I feel like I'm really making progress in my business!
Use the site for free for a VERY limited period of time, then it locks you out until you pay an extortionate fee. Also most of the posts are people from foreign countries who aren't founders- but are trying to scam you or obtain work for their agencies. AVOID. Total waste of time/scam
The site was very poorly designed, implemented and is heavily bugged with no site adminstration.
The site messaging system is extremely basic and it's support is non-existent.
Overall It's an elaborate scamming ecosystem set by group of so called "investors" and "cofounders" whom initially will push sides interested fundraising /cofounding to subscribe to a premium account which charges 3x of what they advertise (with no monthly notifications or invoices) and then as you initiate interacting on the site messaging system - this flags you/ connects you to other scamming investors asking you to subscribe 30k USD$ for non-guaranteed introductions.
The attached printscreen shows no reply on the site over a 3 months timeline - a disgrace.
Please avoid at all costs providing your credit card details and beware they make it impossible unsubscribing from that "service".
I made the mistake of trying out the premium account for three months before I checked who was running the site. My fault for not doing my due diligence, so I'll eat that.
However, within a week or two of receiving messages from scammer profiles and seeing the lack of activity on the site, I cancelled my subscription.
I also took a screenshot of the 11-8-2021 cancellation acknowledgement because anybody with any character and integrity would have already shut down the billing system on this failed platform.
As I suspected, as of March 13,2022, my account is still active as a premium member.
I tried to go through the cancellation process again, but they've changed it and made it much more difficult to make it through the process. In addition, their in-platform communication system doesn't work, so you have to contact them through email.
If you look at the "team" behind the platform, you can start getting an idea of what's going on: https://cofounderslab.com/team
In fact, if you try to click on any of the "team" profiles, they come up blank; except for Joshua Wenner the lead hack of the platform.
While Wenner keeps his dead cofounderslab platform's billng system on, he's off on the "bearded veteran" kick offering "Emotional Resilience Training (ERT):" https://www.joshuamichaelwenner.com
Maybe Wenner thinks he came up with a new business model by generating, fraudulent, residual income off of dead platforms.
Answer: It depends on which side of the search you are on: are you a non-technical founder looking for a technical co-founder, or vice versa? If you're a technical founder looking for the non-technical co-founder, then I strongly encourage you to join because the ratio tilts in your favor. My biggest issue was the fact that these so-called "technical co-founders" were, in fact, solo-preneurs with their own Inc. or LLC and they're there mostly to solicit for (your) business. I would avoid any"technical co-founder" who, at any point, mentions: "Well, I have a team..." or "I've worked with startups/businesses/projects like yours..." If I were to compare it to a dating site, which CoFounders Lab compares itself to (just for startups, though), in my experience, the pool of technical co-founders was full only of the hit-it-and-quit-it types. I hope this helps!
CoFoundersLab has a rating of 1.6 stars from 36 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. CoFoundersLab ranks 45th among Entrepreneurship sites.
Dear Bob,
We are so sorry to hear that you had an unsatisfactory experience. However, we have no record of a "Bob G." or "Robert G." who has actually enrolled in our program, so we cannot reach out to you personally.
In any case, all enrollees in CoFoundersLab Accelerator are offered the opportunity to schedule a half hour on-boarding call with our Program Director so that we can get you know you and answer any questions as well as to understand your objectives for the 6 weeks. CFLA enrollees also get access to a private site with extensive content curriculum, a full program calendar, supplemental videos, interviews and readings to fully prepare them for this immersive 6-week experience.
If you neglected log in to the CFLA site or set up your on-boarding call with our program director, that may explain why you felt there was a lack of information. We hope that if you choose to try the program in the future you will take advantage of these two very valuable resources that are available to all participants.
