I signed up for a lifetime membership with Classmates.com a few years ago. I didn't log onto the site often but they occasionally sent me notices by e-mail regarding classmates who had visited my site. I just recently checked in with the site and found a note from a good friend written to me back in 2019! I hadn't received any notification regarding that note, so it went unanswered until now, 2+ years later! With all of the notices I've received, I wish they had notified me of that one! My other issue is the constant requests for me to "upgrade" my account at additional cost so that I can communicate with fellow classmates! A lifetime membership should not incur additional costs to use the site. I hope that Classmates.com will take note of their many less than satisfied customers! It could be a great site if they make some needed improvements-it's a good concept! Thanks!
In a world where people can look up old friends through Fb and Instagram, why would people PAY just to read who was viewed you? I joined thinking this would be a very useful website to find old yearbooks and old friends, I was wrong its confusing and boring. They need to up their game. Have a whole new system. Make it easier and fun to share yearbooks and pics.
... and here is why:
Back in the nineties the concept of social media and group online hangouts were new. At its inception classmates.com was great... and I did use it to catch up with old friends and foes from back in the day. Five stars at that time.
Fast forward... Facebook and other online gathering places eclipsed Classmates -- leaving it in the dust. All the while Classmates started asking for more and more money while growing too gimmicky. Now one star.
I rarely if ever use it at this time.
However I will average the two ratings of five stars plus one star for a rating of three stars for old time's sake.
Classmates, you were a trailblazer... good luck in the future.
Good site to track down some of your old school friends? Or maybe a favorite teacher who made a difference in your life? This is the place to start. Basic access is free, premium access is modestly priced.
I ordered a year book reprint for one that I had not originally purchased. Then I read all these bad reviews and felt I had just been taken for a bad ride. To my surprise within a few days i received a shipping notification and the book showed up at my northern home. I flew up there and inspected same and found that it was what I expected with quality commensurate with a reprint. Possibly they are trying to rebuild their reputation but I must be honest and call a spade a spade! Eveland from Cleveland.
I called as soon as a $96.00 charge for 1 year showed up for this service. I was forced into retirement after a major accident last year and now on a limited income. Spoke to the frontline person and management….they didn't care.
For the past two years, I paid $36 a year. Because I signed up for auto renew, there is "nothing" that they can do. They said they sent a reminder email in June. It never arrived.
With the number of members of every high school in the US, they are sure making a lot of money for very little return. An email here and there indicating someone has visited your site! Like, they just LOOKED at your profile. And, that is it. Unless, you count their e-mails selling year books. Worth VERY little and certainly not 96 dollars worth. Extremely disappointed.
I have gotten an email from Classmates.com EVERY day telling me someone has viewed my profile. Their notice is regarding a "view" I got 5 weeks ago yet they tell me about it every single day. Are they really so poorly programmed as to do this or do they think it generates more interest? It just makes me delete every message without looking. Isn't there a better sight for keeping up with old classmates an reunion info?
Classmates business practice leaves a lot to be desired. Don't give them you credit card. They take your money and you have no way to get it back. Buyer beware.

Yesterday PCH Classmates charged $60 on my credit card. When I called them to dispute the charge, the representative told my I was on a an automatic annual renewal. Current users will know that when you are enrolled in Classmates you get an email every time a new member signs up, someone searches your name, etc. I have not had any emails from them since October 18,2020... 7 MONTHS!
Word of advice. Don't sign up with this company. The are dishonest. If you chose to sign up, keep good records and do NOT allow them to sign you up for auto renew.
These crooks will steal your money then say "the terms and conditions state all subscriptions are non refundable. But you can enjoy the rest of your current term without worry of being billed again" Don't waste your time or money!
I initially subscribed with about a $7 payment. I did not realize payments were automatic. They cheated me of $15 and would not refund me. You don't really get any information that's worth anything either... don't waste your money!
I didn't even know I was still on their website. They charged me today, I got right to PayPal and now I still can't get my money back. Auto pay, thats how they are ripping off people! I said they sent me an email OK they send emails every day who the hell reads every one of them. The only reason I gave one star is because I can just submit it without putting one on
Thier rule is take the money and don't resfund ever
You have to keep an eye on this website. They slide automatic renewals on you very slyly and the first thing you know your checking account is minus $72. They have all legal ground because they will send you an email in advance but it appears generic and certainly doesn't mention an amount, which might actually get your attention. After you are charged and request a refund or cancel you will receive an email saying "after the current term", which means they keep your money. I'm done with them.
If you're considering purchasing a yearbook from them, DONT DO IT! It's a rip off. Book is of very poor quality and not worth what you pay for it. I wouldn't spend a dime for it much less the $75 I actually purchased it for (on sale). Poor customer service also. The yearbook had 4 pages of a love note written to the former owner. Classmates heads cut off at top of every page.
I recommend you donate your money to a charitable organization instead of wasting it on purchasing one of their yearbooks.
If I could give this site a 0 star, I would. Unbelievable, how you do not get any reminders on upcoming renewal fees. On top of that, they do not have a deactivation on there site. Contacted customer support over 4 times via email and finally received an email. Take a look at the attachment. Stealers is what this company is! Beware!
I signed up for a trial on classmates. Com…and there were 27 people supposedly looking for me. The first person listed was on there 4 or 5 times apparently looking for me in May of 2021. Unfortunately the person that was looking for me…. I had helped bury him in 2009. The customer no-service line gave me the run around that their email server was having problems…to which I replied a dead man isn't updating his information. This is a fraudulent company who has been sued in many states. I'm filing a complaint with our State Attorney General. Totally a fraudulent scam!
I was so disappointed with this site. There are pop ups ads every few seconds. Navigating this site is ridiculous. After 3 wasted hours, I decided to pursue a refund. I only received automated answers of no refund.
Don't do it!
BEWARE! I normally say I will leave a review and then don't. Hate to hurt anyone's business. Yet the way they have this set up is so very sneaky. You will be charged e en if you do not enroll in the auto. They have a small area that locks you in once you sign up. Then you have to call and ask them to stop. By then they have your money and they will not be refunding you no matter what. So please beware and maybe Facebook would be a better choice as you can find people for free. There are hardly any to contact.
I wish I had read the reviews first myself.
I went to this site Classmates to find out if they in fact had my yearbook. The site prompted that they did have it and a message showed up stating I was in the 2004 edition which is when I graduated. So I ordered without looking first since it is a chore to go through all pages. A few minutes after placing the order I saw a link that shows names of all in the book. I am not even in the book! The lied and stated I was. I thought well ok I'm sure that I can cancel since I just placed the order. NOPE, all you get after searching is an email address l. So I promptly emailed them with screenshots showing that their site lied about me being in the yearbook. Got no response. I called the following day since it was not business hours when I placed the order and was told it was shipped and no refunds and they didn't give a $#*! if the site lied. I used PayPal to order so I tried to return that way and they didn't allow it.
So in short it is a scam buyer beware!
Answer: Use Paypal... you can stop any further auto pay before the next billing Year.
Answer: It may be possible. I can't say that for sure, but I do suspect foul play somewhere because it happened to me. I mean, my bank account was $18/mo since August 2021 and now $21.60 this year for something I swear that I never signed up for, and they insist that I did. When I called them to inquire about it, the rep (a woman named Paula), she rudely and quickly insisted the charges were legit because according to THEM, I had signed up for a 3-month membership--which is completely not untrue. She spoke fast, hardly let me talk, and hung up on me while I was still talking. That further may prove that perhaps there's foul play on their part. But, I cannot prove it. However, I strongly believe there's got to be some mistake (on their part) or some kind of fraud somewhere. If I were you, I wouldn't deal with these rude reps. Maybe go straight to the manager/supervisor. If that doesn't work, and you really think there's fraud, I would take it with and dispute it with your bank. I hope that helps
