We applied for this card in december when we were trying to rebuild our credit. They declined us yet we paid the security deposit. So it lowered our credit with an inquiry and credit decline even though their customer service said everyone is approved as long as no bankruptcy, no judgements and income is enough. NOT RECOMMENDED
This cards reward scheme consistently fails to meet or exceed the rewards I can get from Capital one, Wells F, or Chase. Booking through a third party is never smart became you cannot straighten out inevitable screwups directly with your hotel or car rental. Instead you must go through your third party. I get better rewards dealing directly with the vendor and simply pay using whatever card is giving the rewards and skipping a troublesome third party app.
After you score your welcome bonus the card loses its value. If Citi would raise their rewards rates across the board to something comparable or exceeding rewards other cards in its class have it would be worth it for me. My credit journey has surpassed what Citi has to offer but you could still find some value to this card albeit a somewhat lower value that will still leave you short over a few years time. Getting shorted on rewards points can really add up over time. This card is a Signature level Visa card which comes up short on Signature level perks.
I'm serious. If I had been in an accident and lost a lot of blood, and I learned the only blood that could save my life came from someone that worked at Citi, I'd tell them no thanks and die. Nothing about this company works. They cannot send a card in the mail to save their souls; you have to pay to get confirmed DHL shipping or you will never get it. Their website is a joke. It lags and crashes frequently and hides the button to make a payment under the home tab rather than the "payments" tab. It also frequently forgets your bank information which is just super frustrating. Taco Bell remembers my card but Citi can't? Give me a break. Their password complexity is a &%*$ing nightmare and makes everyone just write it down in a notepad file which makes it LESS secure than my password on Neopets in 1998. A lot of companies have this card as their only option for a company card which is THE ONLY WAY THEY STAY IN BUSINESS. Sometimes I wonder if the CEOs of this company meet up to discuss how to make humanity suffer more.
Worst credit card ever!
Cancelled my card and associated COSTCO membership with NO notice.
Snail mailed new card (1 week).
Found new card number, expiration date, and CVV code online.
Changed 13 automated payments to this card. (Took 6 hours!)
Got errors.
Looked online again and found a DIFFERENT expiration date and CVV code.
Went back and changed all 13 accounts again.
Received card in mail. IT HAD THE FIRST SET OF EXPIRATION DATE AND CVV CODE NUMBERS!
Attempted to activate card using their App. Entered name (twice), address, last 4 SSN, etc.
Got message: "AN ERROR HAS OCCURRED."!
Wanted to cancel card, but was told that I would lose my over $700 in rewards.
THIS IS SOOOO BAD, IT IS PROBABLY HARD TO BELIEVE, BUT I SEE THEIR AVERAGE RATING IS 1.0 (That seems waaaaay high to me!)
Worst customer service and incompetence than I have ever received! They outsource their call center and can't even keep up with demand, dropped call a, screwed up my account numerous times, rude...
Replied Yes. Then Received approx 4 texts asking me to call Citi Fraud. Call was answered as Citi Fraud. I asked why call them after answering 1st text as charge is good. The man hung up! 12/20/20
I have been a Citicard customer for over 40 years. I had a situation (which I previously posted about) where I used my Citicard for an online purchase of cosmetics. This turned out to be a scam where you purchase the item and it turns out to be a recurring subscription. I called Citicards when I saw charges of almost $300 that I did make. I filed a discrepancy report and they reversed the charges at first. The company then sent proof that I received the products ( which I did but not at the amount they charged me). They also sent a screenshot of what they say appeared on their website. This was erroneous. Needless to say Citicard put the charges back on my account based on this. After hours of calls to every department they refused to honor my loyalty and honesty. They said the last resort was to write a letter to Citicard and address it to President with an address they provided. I was told I would then hear back between 7-10 days. It is now 3 weeks since I wrote them and I have heard nothing. I even tried calling the company where I ordered these items. Every time they said a supervisor would call back but never did. Citicards needs to value and respect the rights of a loyal customer. Not the lies of a company. I will be closing my account shortly after 40 years. I know this would never happen with American Express.
Raised my interest rate from 12% to 24% for no reason. Gave me one month notice. Usuary, terrible!….
While on the American Airlines site trying to book a flight, we noticed that they were offering their Citibank AA Advantage card with a credit of $200 towards the flight we were trying to book. So, we applied for the card and were accepted. They sent a confirmation to us stating that we received the $200 credit and had up to $3,500 that we could use immediately. So, we tried to book our accommodations on the card and we were rejected. It said charge refused. When this happened it was late at night so we called Citibank to find out what happened and why the charge was refused, since it was under $1,000. We were told that we could not charge anything else until we received our actual card. We told them that you sent a confirmation telling us we could use the card in the interim and charge up to $3,500. The person on the phone put us on hold to check on this and that is when they said that the information was wrong and we could not charge anything else until we received the card. So, make sure you realize all you can do when you apply for the card is pay for your American Airlines tickets and associated fees. Once you do this you will get the credit but nothing else can be charged. Very misleading. We wanted to put the accommodations on the card so we would meet the requirements for the 40,000 miles they would give us if we charged a certain amount within 3 months. If we knew this we would not have bothered with the card in the first place. So, I just tried to register the new card for access on line and guess what? Could not register on line because you can't with your temporary Sec Code that is normally on the back of the card. One more thing you are not told when you apply for your new card. These guys are terrible. As soon as I pay for purchasing the Airline tickets I am getting rid of this card. Oh yea, when I called for support about this issue, it took me 10 minutes to get to a real person that is not an option in their menus.
Received an activated card yesterday - Have sent 4 HOURS ON HOLD for Customer Service today already - AND STILL HOLDING!
