“Trusted and reliable company! Everyone needs this in the Pandemic! - S. K.”

Sanjay K.

I've been using careerexcuse.com for some time now, skeptical at first, but Jennifer and Amey made me feel right at home. They treated me with respect and answered all my questions with utmost care and priority. When it comes time to the background check, theyre on top of their phone lines. Easy to contact, and trusted company. I would recommend them to anyone.

“Unprofessional/and scam to get your money”

Sheila R.
12/9/21

They made promises for job references, put an urgency to get your money, once they got it, they ignored emails, and text messages. When you persist, if they respond (Amey) they will attack/call you annoying and accuse you of not paying even when I sent copies of my receipt and the email sent to them requesting references. I've obtained a job without their help, but just beware-it's pretty shady operation. Luckily, it as a lesson to me. Don't let them take your money, they are not providing the services they promise or advertise. I'm in the process of reporting them to other venues also.

It's not much fun to admit to being scammed - but sometimes your life can only serve a warning to others. CareerExcuse.com has been around for 12 years and seems to have some credibility in the reference for hire market. Unfortunately, past performance is not an indicator of future results. My experience, after paying out $200 to CareerExcuse.com, is, FORTUNATELY, no results. I say "fortunately" because each time I spoke with Jennifer Hatton, "senior partner at careerexcuse.com", she was slurring her rabbling words while insisting I listen, yet again, to... I don't even know what she was saying but If you have ever ended up sitting next to the drunkest person at the party, then you have heard Jennifer's story.

The websites used by CareerExcuse.com, as well as their wildapricot portal, are hallow marketing ploys. After wasting a few days of my time promising a professional, well supported reference, Jennifer offered to "sort everything out by text" - but she was just too busy to actually do it on that day, or the next... - not that I would ever want Jennifer to speak with a prospective employer.

As far as I can tell, the service consists of Amey and Jennifer personally fielding a call from your prospective employer and reading off some boilerplate reference. CareerExcuse.com is a drunken mess that will beat you out of 200 bucks, waste your time and make you a sucker!

Tip for consumers:
Move on to another site.

I needed to make an emergency withdrawal from my 401k but they were only allowing for dire circumstances with proof. I reached out to Career Excuse and got them to provide a notice from a verifiable leasing office stating I was being evicted and it was just what I needed. I consider the price to be a little high but this is the only place I seen that can offer something like this.

Where to begin with this "company"… they claim to be able to return your request within 72 hours for an expedited fee. Won't happen. They claim to "give you their word" that they'll have references for you. Again, won't happen. They'll come up with every excuse in the book about being busy and will get back to you, still won't happen. It'll come down to the eleventh hour and people calling your references you paid a hefty sum for. Will they answer the phone? Nope, won't happen. Don't waste your money or aggravation with these two people.

Run away.

I think at one time this company actually delivered services. That time is not now. I initially started working with Amey. I sent the money and no website. Their reference doesn't work and I lost my money. $250. I called Jennifer and she seriously sounded like she was indulging her drug of choice. I didn't give my money to support someone's habit. I could easily go to a seedy gas station and give out money if I wanted to do that. Jennifer says she's the owner but she did nothing to furnish my service and I did NOT get the job from a very excited prospective employer. DO NOT USE. You're better off paying asking trusted friends to vouch for you. These two are worthless and will actually meds up your career.

I came across CareerExcuse in the beginning of the pandemic because I needed an update on my resume. Jennifer and her team helped me from the start till the end, even making sure all the little details were squared away! I recommend this company 100% if you are in a bind whether it's losing your job, or gaps in your employment. They are authentic, and are easy to reach by email or text.

I should've read the reviews first. I'll be disputing with my bank. Just so everyone in the future knows it is one of the 3 valid reasons to dispute. They'll stop scamming if they stop making money. I encourage people to dispute immediately if they are not providing the resume service they were paid for.

This is a great service that helps you get the job you desire regardless of any prior experience. It's a game changer and gives you the chance you deserve when trying to a job you really want but "don't have the experience." HIGHLY recommend. They are a powerful ally to have on your side

They took $250 from me and provided no service and no refund. I cash app Jack Staten for my payment. This is due to the fact I worked with them in the past and thought I could trust them. I spoke to Jennifer who sounded very intoxicated. She promised a refund but it never happened and she no longer answers the phone.
I can't lay out all of the details due to agreements with my legal team but this company will be under investigation very soon. The owners have willfully created fraud on a federal level. I encourage others to report incidents of giving money without receipt of services to contact the Federal Trade Commission.

For anyone with gaps in their work history due to the ubiquitous "fly by night" startups that pop into and out of existence, this is a lifesaver. Would highly recommend as it's easier and cheaper than hunting down AWOL managers and CEOs who have no interest or intentions of validating your work history. Lost several positions due to lack of response from former colleagues. This service is a necessity when up against the clock and your contacts from work six years ago are MIA. Highly recommend and appreciate the attention to detail

This company is disgusting! They take advantage of desperate people having a hard time but looking for work and are just scamming people. I am having a hard time getting work because I have not worked in so long due to the time I took off to care for my husband after a bad accident. Now my husband has recovered and has left me and this company has scammed me out of the little money I have and harassed me for a week robbing me of the little time I have to look for work before I lose my house.

I would have given zero stars had that been an option. CareerExcuse's sole objective is to lie really really well. So I wasn't all that surprised to see that they lied to the consumers too. They provided me with 2 fake job references fairly quickly. The fake companies even had a website so it looked pretty legit. I was impressed... at first. But then I started getting calls and emails from perspective employers who were attempting to contact my fake references and were unable to reach anyone despite leaving multiple messages. I spoke with the public relations specialist, Jennifer Hatton, who assured me that she would resolve the issue. Clearly she didn't because NOT A SINGLE inquiry was successful in obtaining a job reference for me. NOT 1 SINGLE perspective employer out of probably 10 or 15 different companies. I ended up using friends for references. Jennifer Hatton, the public relations "specialist" dropped off the face of the earth with no explanation. I paid approx $290 for absolutely nothing. I attempted to get a refund however I couldn't reach a single person at the company ever again. I gave up trying after a few weeks of intermittent calls, texts and emails went ignored. I was skeptical at first but they were so attentive prior to receiving my payment that I went against my gut feeling. I guess that's my bad for believing that a company based in deception would themselves be honest.

I was initially pretty skeptical of what these guys could do, but after texting Amey, I was blown away by the results. A couple days ago, I only could imagine what I wanted my future career to be. Today, she showed me a flawless website and references that are rock solid. I was really impressed by what she put together in such a short amount of time. She was a pleasure to work with and I feel better about my future career than ever. 5.5!

Do not waste your money. This is a total scam. Amey and her "staff" will not answer phone calls, return emails or text messages. The references are laughable. This is really terrible because people who need this service are already in a desperate situation.

I've used this company twice now. I previously had a landlord who although paying my rent on time and leaving the place spotless completely ghosted when it came time for me to move out, didn't respond to reference requests and only returned my deposit after I began legal proceedings. Regardless of the fact that I didn't cause any issues - I know how bad it looks to a potential landlord and I was desperate. I was IMMENSELY stressed when I found this service, but I just prayed it was genuine. Amey was unbelievably reassuring when I first contacted them - she explained everything on how it would work, what I needed to submit, and I got approval through the referencing company in 1 DAY. A 24 hour turnaround! It literally removed a ton of stress and anxiety. When I went back the second time Amey actually remembered me, which I was suprised and impressed with, and reminded me what to do, she was even very patient when I had issues with payment - but honestly these guys are worth every single penny as i'm sure we've all had landlords and bosses that have our lives difficult through no fualt of our own - highly recommended.

If YOU are reading this review... let my past experience influence YOUR decision and consider it YOUR sign on what NOT to do. THIS [FAKE] service is a SCAM. SCAM. SCAM. Don't waste your time, effort(s), nor your hard earned money on considering it. JENNIFER HATTON, AMEY, WILLIAM, BILLY BOB or WHOEVER will just kindly and effectually sell their services and the MOMENT your funds are received... CRICKETS. Not even subtle about it. Lol Against my intuition and better judgement i tried it, and was burned. ($220) That said: I will do everything within my scope of ability, connections, and acumen to EXPOSE this fraudulent service and any other BOTS &sites that are connected to them. Please reference the text below. It is a snapshot of my convo with Jennifer (scammer) Notice the fluidity of our conversation then 5 min after payment she never responds again. If you need any additional insight, feel free to email my guy at *******@lobbyist.com (He has more time/resources on his hand to fiddle with this so he's happy to educate you more on this). Consider yourself warned... Thank me later :)

Contacted Jennifer Hatton on a "Saturday" afternoon and she responded quickly and effectively.

Was impressed that she was able to set up my request the same day which allowed me foward my references to my future employer.

CareerExcuse has been a career saver for me because I had no other option.

Will continue to use their service as needed in the future.

Thank you Jennifer!

My experience with CareerExcuse.com aka WorkReferences.com,

Book a free 15min introductory Zoom call. Get notified/reminder of meeting. Start up Zoom with the meeting link provided 2mins early and wait. At 12mins after the meeting is supposed to begin, call them and are given an excuse that Zoom isn't working, but would be happy to have the meeting over the phone. Red Flag #1.

Ask them why half their web site is using stock photos and written in Latin. Reason given is "it's only temporary. They are working on rebuilding it". I don't mention that I looked at them 5 months earlier and it looked exactly the same. Red Flag #2.

Being In real need for their service (desperate really), ignore my gut and continue the process by opening a profile on their site. Fill out my info, then contact them to let them know I've completed my part. We review my information and discuss what sort of companies will be used for my profile. Next step is they are supposed to then fill in their part with company info, contact phone and web site address. They tell me they will be invoicing me and that I had 24hours to pay or the portal would close. At this point I make it clear that I did not want phones turned on until the profile was complete and I had a chance to review and approve it. So far they have provided nothing of value. Why are they insisting I pay within 24 hours? Huge Red Flag #3

Next morning they do their part somewhat, but nothing close to a usable script. They copy/paste generic resume and job listing excerpts in to my profile. Some word salads that are so vague, they convey nothing. Some of it directly contradicts other portions of the profile. Suspect they just copy/paste this garbage in to every profile to make it look like they did something. Upon checking the two company web sites they provided, I'm shocked how bad and amateur the sites look. It's as if someone was learning web design and was using web tools/methods from 20 years ago. Misspelled words, spacing and font issues. One site has pictures of company key personnel, in casual, unprofessional poses and clothing. Titles like CEO/Head of product, for a company that sells no products. Best part, the same people are shown on another page titled "meet the team", where they all now have different names and titles. The CFO is now the Head of Products. Expect them to repurpose their web sites over and over, but at least edit them for each clients needs and make a bit of sense. Both company sites show that they have offices in the UK, CN and like 8+ throughout the US. All in the same cites! In 2023, no company of the size these are meant to look like, would have a zero social media footprint. After reviewing all this, text them that there are issues that need to be discussed before going forward and to call me at their earliest availability. Writing this review 25 hours after that text had gone unanswered. Good thing I didn't send them any funds, but the real issue is the time wasted with these scammers. Had they actually ran a business that provided the service they advertise, would have paid 2-3x the 399 they asked for.

TLDR: They sell you on what they will do for you, rush you to make payment, then deliver nothing remotely usable.

Tip for consumers:
Don't give them money until they provide something of value to you.

Bad Job References? Gap in Resume? Fired? WE CAN HELP! #1 Trusted Fake Resume & Reference Verification Service Since 2009 Serving all of USA, Canada, UK, and many more.

Business History

Internet's Most Trusted Job Reference Service Since 2009!
I myself signed on after a 15-year stint as a mortgage loan underwriter and a nasty divorce because I believed in the company's mission.

Most of our clients are people who are either trying to cover up huge résumé gaps or who've had too many short-term employers and are trying to fake stability.

"Our main clientele right now is IT executives, and they're pretty high-level," citing 6-figure salaries. The average customer, I would say, is looking for something in the $60,000 to $80,000 range.

Since we've started this company we have landed 1000s of members full-term steady employment, "As a matter of fact, I landed 5 people a job this week! And its only Tuesday!

Our current client database has more than 2,000 names of people trying to fake their previous employment. Most of which are clients whom "life has just been completely cruel."

In my mind, CareerExcuse is less a fraud than a for-profit lifeline."There are many things that happen in people's lives, with [employers] going out of business, being laid off, managers just unrightfully firing you, sexual harassment suits — you name it, it happens in the workforce."

We make it very clear that CareerExcuse can't compensate for lack of talent, and if you couldn't actually do the job you're trying to get, you'd be wasting your money to enlist our services. But if you do have the experience and skills to complete the job, "then I don't see why you shouldn't deserve a shot, just like the next person."

I guess I see it as a warped kind of vigilante justice. Lol... "Without our services," there are deserving people "who might not be able to get a second chance." The people we work with "work just as hard" as people that have developed real reference networks. However, there are lines we won't cross. We will not take on clients looking for work in government, medicine, childcare, or law enforcement — nothing where your employment would "put other people in danger." should you not actually have the skill.

I always discourage people just out of college from signing up for our service. "You don't want to start off this way,". "Go get a realistic experience, and then stay with it." Should life throw a curveball your way Then, we will be happy to help. I also won't take people that I get a bad feeling about, or if I sense their "services are being used for anything other than an honest second chance."

CareerExcuse may not always be the best answer, but the problem we are trying to address is a real one, and for me, the ends justify the means. "It does make me feel good about myself to be able to help [people get jobs], whether I have to make a phone call and act like someone else and lie to help them do it."
