The recent assault and battery on a customer by your employees and security is shocking. The man is not wearing a mask but did not deserve do be physically attacked. I hope this customer sues the employees and Canada Tire.
Your prices don't match the quality. Way too expensive. Hence why I prefer good quality products like BassPro and Cabela. I prefer shopping at winners for smaller things. Keep this up and you will end up closing your doors like Bed Bath and Beyond
I ordered an item online, when I went to return it, I found that online purchases can't be returned, even if they are damaged. They do not tell you this when you are ordering, I won't be ordering online in the future..
The service is horrible. No resolution. IT is aware of the issue but not able to resolve it. The person told me to try another browser, which I did. Didn't work. He told me to clear all cookies etc, which I did and didn't work. Then I asked, well now what... he said, I don't know. I guess try later.
Not helpful at all.
On April 26th, I visited the store at 11am with a business inquiry. I was seeking a straightforward answer, either a 'yes' or 'no', and I was open to both responses. I was directed to the garden centre to meet with Mike, the General Manager.
Our conversation took an unexpected turn when Mike made a peculiar comment about a $10,000 fine for doing business with Canadian Tire. The comment seemed nonsensical, so I lightly dismissed it. However, Mike took offense to this and became aggressive and confrontational. He accused me of having a bad attitude and being a poor employee, even though I am not employed by Canadian Tire. Ironically, he was exhibiting the very traits he was accusing me of - a bad attitude and poor employee conduct, especially for a General Manager.
I decided to leave the situation by exiting through the garden centre into the parking lot. Mike continued his tirade, shouting across the parking lot and resorting to name-calling. Despite an apology from Canadian Tire, I find his behaviour unforgivable.
I hope that this does not reflect the overall business practices of Canadian Tire.
I will never shop again at Canadian tire because I was asked to leave my bag at the side. I don't care what store policies are but if they question my honesty that's deal breaker. I have been to many big chains like MEC, the Bay etc and never experienced what I did at Canadian tire. I, my friends and anyone I know will never shop at CT any more.
Otherday, I had an emergency situation. I changed my daughters winter tire, she drove way, few mins back she came back saying one of the tire loosing pressure. It was Friday night 7:30 pm. All the tire places I knew closed already. Only near by option was Ajax Canadian tire. I call the store and the guy said they are closing at 8, if I can come by quickly they can have a look. It was 5 min way fro my home, so I rush to the place and the guy was super helpful and friendly. I told the guy that I suspected it was the Valve, they checked it and found that the valve was loose. They tightened it up and all good after. When I wanted to pay, they said, don't need to pay. I was surprised and very satisfied with the service at the same time. This is call customer service as I had done some car works for my other car at this place before. The reason I am calling it superb because I had other day one of the most horrific customer service experience at Audi Durham. I bought a car from there for my daughter and they refuse to switch the regular tire to winter tire which I had on rims without charging. So, Canadian Tire at Ajax was a blessing. I really appreciate their Service and definitely will recommend others as well. Thanks again for such a superb service, Canadian Tire.
Disgusting return policy. Tried to return a defective Singer M3100 sewing machine that the Singer people told me to return. Canadian Tire would only exchange it for another one of the same defective model. Machine only used once and less than 7 days old.
Horrible policy. I am still stuck with a defective sewing machine
Lost a loyal Canadian Tire customer...
Here's a humiliating experience for you. I just got back from a Canadian Tire store on Kingsway Road, Edmonton, where I was escorted out by two security guards. And why? Because according to them, Canadian Tire has a strict no-bicycle policy, and I was there with my road bike. A very odd claim indeed, because I often go to other Canadian Tire locations in Edmonton with my bike, and was never asked to leave the store because of that. This whole unpleasant experience was made even stranger due to the fact that when the guards approached me, I was on my way to the cashier to buy the saddle cover that was in my hand. Needless to say, I didn't end up buying that product; instead, I handed it over to one of the guards and left the store, feeling very humiliated. Bye Bye Canadian Tire, I don't think I ever want to see you again.
Tried to return extra Sodastream canisters accumulated during Covid. During Covid, returning cannisters wasn't allowed. Still charged deposit of ~ $15 for each of these.
Policy now is to only give back $1 for extra canisters as I had apparently missed the return window of June 2021 (not sure how long this went on.)
I am out of pocket $45 dollars for 3 extra cannisters. Spoke to the young manager who repeated what the supervisor said, that "it is their policy" and that he nor anyone else can do anything about this. Acknowledged that just because it is their policy that it may not be right. Didn't offer and refused any alternative options, eg. Store credit. I told him that we spend way more than that each week on average at Canadian tire. He didn't seem to care, nor did he seem to care when I told him I am not going into their store to look at shelving and I will be shopping elsewhere as much as possible.
They really do need to spend billions on "improving the customer experience."
I have been at Canadian tire in south common location with my two little kids Monday at 2:50 PM I was looking for slide to buy and didn't find what I am looking for. So I decided to leave the store. My son has small car I got it for him from Walmart at the same day and I didn't notice he took it with him in side the store. The lady at the customer service and another guy was looking at me and she stopped me and call the security started questioning me I didn't pay for the car. She didn't believe me I bought from Walmart, just because I am wearing scarves and covering my her she was talking loud, rudely and she grabbed the car from my son's to scanned it and left my son extremely crying. Unfortunately she couldn't scan it. With rude voice said you can leave now. It is the worst place to shop. Worst staff ever.
Useless store. Avoid at all cocsts. Tried to rip me off on antifreeze. Same contaner as on the sale sticker. Horrible customer service. Go to COOP. Customer service 100% better and do not mislead you with false info.
I dropped my car for AC freon recharge at 4:54PM and came back to pick it up at 5:45PM (51 min.). I was charged with 1.6 +. 20 labour hours? Costing $283.77 + tax just. The boss said that it is not necessary that labour hours equates to real time. WHAT A RIPOFF
I bought new tire from there. After 5days got flat tire. My vehicle keep with them whole day for flat tire. Then ichange by myself. Only tire gave to them fix tire. Free flat tire repair. Customer service so bad. Do not go there. So long waiting for service
Thought I would support Canadian companies more, especially Canadian Tire who I also hold shares in both retail / real estate (REITs). I was thinking to myself how I could use less international purchasing and stick with Canadian business is when I noticed the CT Triangle (savings) credit card. I was approved, the forms arrived within 3 days, I handed them in. It said I would receive a CC in 5 days. It's been over 30 days now with zero responses to this matter. Previously they reply back within 3 days when inquiring about Triangle.
So to make this story short and looking at the other reviews --I'll be boycotting CT and selling my shares in the company since their incompetence to touch base on this trivial issue actually does matter when I was further ready to support the company.
Extremely poor service. Exceptionally poor return service... even if having receipt and original boxes too.
Canadian tire money as NOT real money... they have no right to deduct that off your money on returns if you denied the canadian tire money to begin with... thid is illegal.
Online shopping to store pickup is a joke.
Lack of store to store transfer for items is a prehistoric standard.
This is a company issue... this is a company standard issue... this is a company policy issue.
Over all... Canadian Tire... you fail
Guess what, not all CT stores equal
Guess what, pricing at Canadian tire stores is not uniform. Recently decided to purchase top tool chest item 058-1847-4. I saw it advertised at Canadian tire on clearance for $449.93. I drove to Canadian Tire store on Coventry Road on Ottawa's east end and they had it at $499.93. I showed ad which I thought was all Canadian tires, and after manager came, he showed me that their store had it at the $499 price, and told me they no longer, since Covid, price match, EVEN THEIR OWN STORE! Went to Merivale store and bought for $449.93 plus HST. Noticed that some LED lights w/additional expansion wing lights which were close to $50 in Coventry store were $19.93 ( not sure what cents were) at Merivale store.Avoid Coventry store I suspect more expensive on everything.

I ordered tires on line and on the day they were to be available for pick up I got an email cancelling my order. I tried again, using a different store. What was confusing was that it said there were 6 tires at the store, yet when I went to the store they said the tires were coming from Montreal, on another day they told me they were coming from Ontario. The authorized amount showed on my credit card and the day they were to arrive the credit card authorization was cancelled. I called the store and that's when they said tires were coming from Ontario. I called 1-866 number to get some help, and they offered to call the store to find out where the tires were.
The day after expected delivery I cancelled the order. If it wasn't Canadian Tire, I would say this is all a sham, and someone out to get my credit card info.
I am semi retired, military veteran and have built several custom show quality vehicles in my lifetime. Yet, i was passed over for employment for at least 5 possitions, all of which i AM highly qualified for. The reason for being passed over? I am seemingly over qualified.
My '94 Jeep would not start, took it to Canadian Tire, Mackenzie Towne, Calgary, Alberta for repair. They changed out the starter for $190 and $240 labour. Turns out, not the starter, they asked for another $180, to start look8ng for the problem. I asked them to return the new starter, as it did not fix the problem.
They told me it was now "used".
I asked if it started the Jeep, "No" was the answer.
I asked if it spun the engine? "No" was the answer.
I asked if electricity got to the starter? "No" was the answer.
I asked"how is it used?"
The answer was "we opened the box"
Now they want $190 for the starter, $250 for install labour and another $180 to start looking for the issue. $630 and Jeep still will not start!
Crap customer service on top of that! I am not made of money! I cannot afford giving them all my money and eat air until I am paid again.
They will not work with me to fix my only way to get to work. Thieves and crooks.
Answer: Yes, all of them, no one has such a strict return policy.
