This company is not professional at all. Very unorganized. Took them over a month to deliver my stuff 212 miles. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I would call and no one would pick up, id leave a voicemail and no one would call back. When you finally get someone online they always have no information for where your stuff is, when it will arrive and always say they will follow up in a few hours but never do NEVER! So i would always be calling back and never getting information. Then they say your stuff will be delivered this thursday and it never was, then oh next weekend, nope try again. I couldnt believe anything they said. So go with anyone else if you are moving. They wont get you your stuff until it works for them. Not worth a penny.

The experience started off well. The person booking my cross country move seemed kind and motivated. They asked for a detailed inventory list to ensure the best quote and accurate delivery window. I provided the EXACT number of boxes, totes, lamps, chairs, etc. and the quote was off by $2,000($2k off on an $8k quote)! When the truck showed up, I moved less than was on my quoted list! Once I had signed the original quote, customer service started to go down hill. The movers are supposed to call a day or two before the move, they never did. In fact, Budget switched the movers a day or two before the move and never provided the updated contact info. When Budget booked the move, there was a 3 day window for pickup and we noted I had to be out by Noon on the final day(due to selling the house and giving up possession). The movers showed up 15 minutes before Noon and were half staffed. I had to have other help come in to meet the deadline. No refunds or discounts provided by Budget and no real help in negotiation with the movers they booked. Also the original person that helped in Customer Service would not take my calls during the move. Beware with Budget. They are only in it to make their broker fee and don't really care about your experience or the accuracy of their information. If you have the chance to work with Vicki from Las Vegas, run for the hills, don't. Choose ANYONE else.

The rep lied to me from the start. He didn't tell me I needed shuttle service an additional $1,000. He didn't tell me it would be $800 more if I wanted them to pick on the day I requested! The rep wouldn't call me back. When I bought up my dissatisfaction his manager coverage for him. What a sleezy company. Don't make the mistake I did.

I would never recommend, nor make the mistake of using this company ever again. I was told THE DAY BEFORE my CROSS COUNTRY move that they could not service my move. I scheduled a move through budget van lines months in advance with a three day window set no later than the date our house was closing to sell. ( new owners had to move in that same day.) The same day I got my confirmation call for pick up, I received another call that evening that the truck had broke down, and they may or may not get there within time frame. So I contacted budget vanlines, and was reassured by a manager that IF they could not arrive on time- they had a back up carrier available and my date would not change. So instead of making new arrangements I relied on budget van lines. On the next day (day before the move) I was called to be told that original carrier would not be able to service me and the "back up" carrier was available the day after I was to be out of my home. After many phone calls, I was ready to deal with a day late and delay our sell. But even that would not work- I was then told that actually no, that carrier wasn't available. When asked what they do in this situation to complete the customers, already partially paid ($1,400) move that had been booked and held for over two months- I was told " at this point we will give you a refund." Yep that's it! The day before needing an entire house moved and stored and selling to a new owner who was moving in, I was told "sorry, you can make other arrangements." So if you're looking for reliable or even honest- I would never waste my time with this company. Save yourself the torture and stress!

Scam
June 8, 2020

Watch your wallet with these guys. They changed the documents, they claim that there was a non-refundable deposit without telling me. I am just glad that I didn't go through with them taking my items and holding them for hostage.

READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU SIGN WITH BUDGET VAN LINES - Firstly, I would like to start by the estimates they give. I was given an estimate of $1800 for the move. I was never informed about the weight restriction on this move. The customer service individual also mentioned that I could add up to an extra 30 boxes. When the driver picked up our stuff he added another $500 for the weight of the stuff. We paid for flights upfront, but when the driver dropped off he charged us an extra $202 for stairs because Budget Van lines has a different count for flights versus the moving company. Overall we have had to pay $700 extra on top of our estimates. They were never detailed on the hidden costs; every time I call to talk to someone regarding all these costs they were very rude. I also complained to the customer service lady of how rude her peers were and I did not appreciate it. Very disappointed. Will never use them again!

March 10, 2020

I use buget van line to a move from NY to FL. And buget van line send a next company to do the move, the next company came on the date collect my items and second payment and I paid them, they told me that it would take up 3 weeks before I received my items and I said fine no problem it take them 4 weeks and when they reach they are telling me that need more money then the original price I was upset but I still paid it. When they started to unpack the items I noticed that they damage a lot of things. Like my kids dresser my table and more they said that I should do the insurance clam and I did and it's 8 mouths now and all now the insurance can't replace my damaged items the insurance in a scam and I call buget and they keep on telling me they can not do anything about it

Customer Service manager
February 8, 2020

She talked so fast and loud didn't catch her name. My wife set up the move. She called several times the time she was speaker phone I was floored by the actions. The Customer service manager wouldn't listen, was over barring, rude and down right wrong. It's obvious the company will let her speak anyway she wants. My wife asked for her supervisor and she refused to do so. Belonging are late on day 52. Good job Budget Van Lines belongings late and get treated like crap.

Refund help
October 2, 2019

I had a very good experience with Budget van Lines. They were very helpful in helping me with my move from NYC to Los Angeles. A situation occurred in payment and they worked very closely with me to make it all right.

The team that moved my storage items were very friendly and upfront with the cost and estimates. Explained things clearly and no hidden cost or damage to property.

Budget charged a last minute fee and held my possessions hostage. They should have informed me of the fee ahead of time. They also waited to schedule my delivery until 11AM the day of, rather than the day before or first thing in the morning. This made my desired drop-off window of 8AM-noon impossible.

Dishonest, do not use! They charge you for a falsified measurement of linear feet used and hold your belongings hostage until you pay. They use Estes Sure Move, and claim the truck is 28 foot. They charge by how much is left after you load your belongings, subtracting from 28 feet. But Estes Sure Move themselves admits the trucks are only about 27 feet (which I have a recording to prove). They forced me to pay more to get my belongings and then when the truck arrived and I took photos in front of the driver as proof and sent them in, they refused to do anything. They said I "waived my right" to refute by paying the extra to get my belongings back. My case was moved up to the manager (*), who refused to help. They should be investigated and put out of business for their corruption! If there are others out there that have resolved this, please let me know. I would like to do a class action against them, get our money back, and teach them to be honest moving forward.

If anyone else suffers fraud at the hands of Budget Van Lines or other fraudulent movers or brokers, here's where you can file a complaint with the department of transportation, fmcsa

As well as with BBB. Just click the BBB link on their website and file the complaint.

You can also just google, "budget van lines reviews" and see tons of bad things about them and add more negative reviews. I wish I had before I hired them and got scammed! But I'm putting in a dispute with the bank charge, so hopefully I'll get the fraudulent charge reversed. An hopefully the DOT does something about their deceptive business practices and outright fraud!

If you've been scammed by them, take action! Make sure the pain they feel is larger than the money they scammed from you.
