I have experienced excellent acting, beautiful scenery and wonderful suspense watching Britbox. I look forward to finishing Miss Marple after 12 seasons of Poirot. It will take me years to go through all the great choices and variety of things to watch. The support team was quick and helpful with any problems that arose until I became more familiar navigating the site. Britbox is a wonderful escape from the dreadful news channels and questionable opinions I no longer consider helpful. Thank you from USA.
We first subscribed many years ago when BritBox was first available in Canada. Today we cancelled due to complete frustration with BritBox's inability to provide reliable viewing. We're on fibre, 250mbps, so there's no issue at our end; nor do we have any problems with our other services. BritBox however... We're now in the midst of our third in as many months of the inability to watch BritBox. So far this month we've lost 15% of our viewing days because BritBox refuses to recognise our log-in. Their Chat support is useless and the promised call by their Tech Support folks has yet to happen... now going into day 3.

Tip for consumers:
Great shows, abyssmal tech support/reliability.
BritBox claims to offer the most British content because it's a collaboration between ITV & BBC. Unfortunately many of their shows tend to be old productions including '70s & '80s which come across as "dated" instead of "nostalgic". After 4 months of "coming soon" a new series consisted of only 2 shows — turns out that's all the producers produced; other shows have also been "coming soon" for months with no actual date provided — meanwhile BritBox seems to be flooded with "dreck" from the '60s & '70s. The most recent frustration for anyone accessing BritBox through AppleTV is Britbox's unannounced change to how the Apple remote functions — for us it meant 3 days of no access until BritBox got around to responding to my email. A simple email to their subscribers PRIOR to the change would have prevented a lot of anger & frustration; BritBox's reply to my query included "... it has been hard to get in contact with us due to such a high volume of requests..." You think? Fortunately for us we also have NetFlix & AcornTV.
I love BritBox and have watched through Roku for years without any problems. However I recently purchased and watched it through Amazon Prime where I ran into some tech issue. After five emails explaining the problem to BritBox customer service asking them to send it to their tech people. Email after email I kept being told how to fix problems that had nothing to do with the one I very clearly explained to them. The rep was clueless, my emails should have been sent up a tier of tech support, which they obviously did not do because the glitch is still there. Worthless customer service but still worth the money.
I bought a 1-year Britbox gift subscription for my wife. Apparently, there is a provision buried somewhere in the terms and conditions legalese that says that Britbox will automatically renew without notification for eternity. My wife is certain she cancelled after the gift year, but we could not prove it. It turns out that Britbox has billed us an additional $90 to $100 each year in December for the last 4 years when we never used it or knew we had it. Britbox does not tell you that they are about to renew so that you can figure out how to cancel. This is especially a problem for subscriptions given as gifts. I would not do business with these people or ever give them access to your credit card. Customer service was zero help.
I signed up for the free trial. I began trying to cancel the next day. It is simply not possible to do so unless you cancel your card and do it from that end. Password reset links do not get sent to spam or regular email. Customer service does not respond. When you try to start over, it says you already have an account. I've had many services and this is by far the worst.
I could not get Britbox to work on my Smart TV as I have for 5 other streaming services. I gave up. No issues, I thought, I was still in my 7 day free trial. So following their "how to cancel" instruction did not work, the option / menus are simply not there. So back and forth in their help line has resulted in them charging me for their service. It feels like I am in the middle of a scam. (This review platform forced me to place one star as a rating which I do not want to do)
What is up with British crime shows and their preoccupation with shows with corrupt cops? You'd think British police are so inept they can't tell right from wrong. Currently watching Redemption with the main character stupid enough to hide evidence of her deceased daughters drug dealings. Maybe some wank thinks this makes the show more interesting, I just find it disgusting and a repeat of so many of British crime dramas.
The BritBox app is malfunctioning trash, but beyond that they practice deceitful renewal processes, and when I lodged a refund request with their customer service only 4 days after the deceitful renewal, they said no. Case was elevated to a supervisor who took a week to get back to me and said no again. Absolutely no sense of customer service or courtesy in the responses. Stay away from this company. They don't care at all about the customer, and are willing to argue with you for $7.99.

Just stay away

Subscription app service
The main reason for me purchasing app was to be able to watch Eastenders, eventually discovered other program. I often have to delete app & then reinstall it to stream on television… annoying, but enjoy programs so I deal with it. Since 9/23/22 app no longer allowing me to stream & view program on television. My subscription has never been canceled, & can still see programs on phone/ table. But unable to stream to television. So disappointed, canceled service/ removed app 9/24/22.

What does does this have to do with dissatisfaction with Britbox app? Sitejabber, I have no interest in this site. As a consumer, was not satisfied with service of a particular app. That is has.
You sign up & pay; they try to charge you again 4 months into your annual service, then claim you never paid, you want to cancel, you are on a monthly, a constant barrage of insults to you the consumer. The service is also junk and NOT worth a dime. Service stops, bad streaming, I can't say enough bad things about it. THEY ARE CHEATS! Stay away and go one to other services so much better and reliable, nice people, NOT BritBox.
They present shows that are 10 or 12 years old and only part of the episodes are there because the show never finished. Be careful starting a show on britbox you may not see the end of it such as the show called good cop 12 years old supposed to have full episodes only has two brick box canceled the show after two episodes but they're still selling the show on britbox and only giving you two episodes big disappointment.

You will love Britbox.
Their streaming service sucks - I had tons of problems with "buffering" while watching their shows, even though I have excellent Internet speed and no other technical problems watching other streaming services like Hulu. Their customer service is a joke - they just kept sending me back stupid and obvious suggestions to improve the buffering, all of which did nothing to improve it! The streaming problems are definitely on THEIR end and of course they won't admit it, fix it, or give you a refund if you complain. Never again will I subscribe to twit faced BritBox!
Britbox offers a large number of British programming from BBC and ITV. They also sneak in shows from All4. A nice mix of movies, mystery, right down to comedy and game shows. It should be a good streaming service but it has constant technical issues that they can't seem to fix. The biggie (just like AcornTV) is when you use a browser to view their content. After watching a stream for a while you'll be told the content is not available on this device. Your Watch List will disappear and you then can't watch anything. One screwup after another. They do fix it eventually but the wait is annoying.
It just seems that there isn't a streaming service anywhere out there that hires IT people that actually know what they're doing. They just keep bandaiding everything. Oh ya and keep raising the price with no improvements.
Currently I have both Netflix & BritBox. And I'm so upset with Netflix. My favorite show is "Midsomer Murders." Netflix completed removed all of their seasons and never showed the 21st season at all. BritBox not only gives me access to watch all previous 20 seasons at my leisure but also added all the episodes of the 21st season! I do not have Acorn Tv which does show this latest season. So thank you BritBox! Never had a problem with you at all! I'm hoping to go to a "Midsomer Murder" tour in London soon. As a suggestion, I do wish that you add more classic shows like "Mr. Bean" skits from Rowan Atkinson for example. Still enjoying "Keeping Up Appearances," "Shettland," "Wallander," & more. Thanks again!
Initially signing into BritBox had a problem via tv and codes
I've from to love britbox, ANYONE who likes British drama there is a
Myriad of options. British TV is the best. Don't give up within the trial period as it is well worth the subscription.
PleSe don't be put off by the free trial people
There is no option to unsubscribe, after you discover many missing episodes in the box sets, emailing them for help to unsubscribe won't do anything either, they don't reply, (no surprise since the option isn't accessible and they ask for your card details before the free trial), slimy people. Will be pursuing legally, hope everyone speaks up to save others the bother.
I'm enjoying BritBox immensely. Love every show I've seen. No tech problems at all. I'm on Shakespeare and Hathaway right now and the laughs are loud at my house! This show is outstanding. Please keep it all coming. We love BritBox. Better than American TV for sure!
I rarely review, unless something is fantastic or completely dire. Guess which category Britbox falls into. If britbox was a person, I would smash its face in. Not really, but wow, britbox is frustrating.
I am still on my free trial and I have cancelled it tonight. After reading reviews on here, they better not charge me!
Never managed to watch anything without buffering or crashing, that is if I can get on it in the first place.
Don't entertain it, life is too short.
I canceled my subscription in December'21. BritBox went ahead and charged my visa for another year's subscription fee on 12-31-21. Despite numerous emails and calls to their customer service no refund has been issued. They don't even respond to the emails. Beware!
Tip for consumers:
Beware that they will charge your credit card without your authorization
I subscribed to this service so that I could watch Eastenders. I became addicted to this program when it aired on PBS. PBS discontinued it, but I was able to watch it on BBC America. The, despite a lot of pleading by watchers, BBC America discontinued it. I thought that I would never see another episode again. Then I found that Britbox aired Eastenders. I was sold. I read some of the negative comments, but I really have not had those issues. I would have given my review 5 stars, but the customer service is really bad.
WITHOUT PREDUDICE
So signed up to watch Doctor Who and other programs only to find they have been removed also noted not all full series are shown very little new content
False advertising?
Tip for consumers:
Just not happy purchased a service that failed to deliver.
I signed up, to access the 30 day trial you're forced to leave your card details.
The programming quality is poor, frankly - tired old british TV programmes.
Then - I forgot to cancel, which is why they make you leave your card details. Only unlike most subscription based services that work in this way, Britbox doesn't refund under those circumstances.
AVOID!
Rip-off! I gave this service to my 82 year old mother for Christmas. After many calls, and many hours on hold, the service still failed to work but the company refuses to issue a refund. The strategy seems to be to wear you down until you give up and simply let your money go. Definitely merits investigation, and I will certainly be forwarding my complaints to the appropriate agencies in groups at all levels. Meanwhile do not buy this under any circumstances unless you are a masochist!
The site has some good content - not great as you'd probably think of lots of stuff (many, many comedies for instance) which could be great on here. I suspect the PC brigade have probably stopped many of them being shown.
The app is awful with programmes erroring if paused and, the worst part, the need to activate with a code everytime it's used. I wouldn't bother until they add a bit more content anyway - it's okay if you like Downton and Dr Who and can put up with the appalling application
I love the content but it freezes, then catches up or turns off completely. Far less reliable then other streaming services on the same tv and ISP. Don't think there has been a single hour and a half program without some form of interruption. The service always blames the ISP but I stream other services without issue.
