Bottom line, you can get the same wines for less locally. Also, I tried the quiz several different times from different accounts and no matter what answers I put in I was given the exact same wine selection. It's a scam, plain and simple. Buy local.
I discovered bright cellars on twitter, and their product interested me. So i decided to try it. I will tell you right now i am not an experienced wine drinker by any sorts, but i have been trying to expand my tastes,
I have been satisfied with the product, sure there may have been problems with the shipping but i am willing to chalk that up to a new business maybe that is "naivete". Then again you sign up for a wine club on twitter what can you expect.
In conclusion, i would recommend this product to a friend, and i have, the 50% off for your first subscription is enticing and if your an wine enthusiast like i am it would be well worth the investment in my opinion.
I received the cheese, which was not of good quality, and then cancelled the subscription. Bright Cellars kept charging me for the next months and were not responsive to cancellation at all. Scary experience to have a company access your account despite a written cancellation.
Tried to cancel my account after getting more shipments than I planned on. Tried to cancel my account, had to send 4 emails back to the "wine concierge" just to get the response "At this time as mentioned, we're currently unable to arrange indefinite holds (only temporary), as our system does require a tentative reactivation date. Because of this, I went ahead and put your account on hold for the next 6 months. Your next order will now process on June 5th, 2019." They just wait until you forget about your account to charge you more.
Entered my email on a questionnaire while bored, and of course got spammed. I figure that will happen when you give out your email. No biggie, just unsubscribe. But just like illegal scammers, hitting unsubscribe just seems to confirm your address is legit and nothing else. They will not stop filling my inbox with spam. From the reviews (and frankly, the business model in general), I can tell this is also how they react to cancellations for their "services." STAY FAR AWAY.
Bright Cellars has an initial offering that would seem to be reasonably priced until you get the wine, and it at least has the varieties right but all of cheapest quality. Then, if you forget and don't cancel right away, they send the regular price shipment and you are out a huge markup of 90 plus dollars for 4 bottles of low quality wine. During the cancellation process the CSR admitted the subscription wasn't for people that knew about wine quality. To be very clear, even the lower introductory shipment is not a bargain - better wine can be had at your local store for less money. There isn't any incentive to get the deal on the first shipment or have anything whatsoever to do with Bright Cellars.
Opened a bottle of Bright Cellars wine - 4 months after receiving it, having kept it in proper storage conditions... was rotten, tasted and smelled like vinegar... Bright Cellars refused to refund or replace it because their Terms and Conditions limits customer returns / satisfaction to 30 days. In addition, whether or not to even honor those 30 days is at their discretion. I explained that not everyone drinks all of their wine within 30 days, and without opening it and trying it, I would have never known it was bad. They didn't care. So, in the end, they only guarantee their wine for 30 days, at their discretion. Buyer Beware.
It is 01/08/2016 and I have yet to receive my December selections. I have gotten so multiple differing accounts of where my wines are and when they will be delivered. A Fed Ex label was created on 12/29/15 however, Fed Ex has not received an actual package to ship! Bright Cellars certainly did not find delay in debiting my account for the wine. I wish I could get a straight answer as to when the wine I paid for will get here. And the "customer service" response is laughable. Rather than try to problem solve or make things right, they just say "sorry" and give me the "your wine will be delivered soon line."
** Update. Wine has still not been delivered and the tracking information has not changed at all. It is now 1/12/2016 and the original order was 12/26/2015. This business is not a member of the BBB. I am going to file a complaint with my state Attorney General.**
Customer service takes 3-5 business days to respond to email, which is bad practice even if you are a decent business. My first box contained very mediocre wine, delivered over 2 weeks late with no communication as to when it would arrive and no notice other than an email when it finally arrived. (Who leaves a big box marked WINE on a porch clearly visible from the street in a crime-infested city in the middle of a pandemic?)
Still waiting on my 2nd box for which I paid over a $100. It's over 10 days late and I have been waiting for a response from customer service for over 5 days now. I cancelled my subscription, of course.
I initially wanted to cancel after the second month just because of uninpressive wine selection. But, I found it is hard to cancel. There is no way to cancel from the website. After an email request they answered initially, asking for feedback, but then would not proceed with cancellation. I had to call during their business hours to cancel. I have subscribed to wine clubs several times over the last 5 years and never had such a difficult process to cancel. With this experience I will certainly not do business with them again.
The algorithm that they use to try and match you to wines is so rancid and off base that the initial (introductory) bottles were so bad two went immediately down the drain, two we tried for almost and month to cook with and after destroying three meals they also went down the drain and the last one we just threw out without opening.
Even if they gave the wine too you free it would be over-priced
The second order (sent after we had actually tried unsuccessfully to cancel- Sitting on hold for 15 minutes only to be transferred to voice mail on two separate occasions.) We were even more disappointed then with the first.
If you know anything about wine, you will steer clear of this subscription. The wines are bought from Wine Direct for about $3.00-$4.00 and are sold for $15 min.
They also cannot give any information about the vineyards where they get the wine or how it's grown, because the don't even have that information. Sad.
I've read a lot of reviews on how it's difficult to unsubscribe. All I did was call them at around 10am and told them I wanted to unsubscribe. Done. The lady was very nice.
I haven't tried the wine yet. I thought it was a bit pricey as well but I have never tried Pino noir or the other stuff that I got, so I'm pretty excited!
I loved bright cellars and my experience with them. I was able to give good feedback on the wines i did and did not like, and their customer service was second to none. I knew from the get go I only wanted to use the service for a month to try it out (for budgetary reasons) and they were very understanding and cooperative with my requests. 10/10 would use this service again once I have more of a budget to do so!
I have been a Bright Cellars customer for a few months now and it has surpassed my expectations! I've never been a big wine drinker, but I figured I'd try it for a month and then cancel. Since joining, I've increased my shipments and added cheese! The wine selections have been spot on! There was one bottle I didn't care for, so I gave it a low rating and let them know I didn't like it. They responded to me immediately and sent me a replacement bottle for free in my next shipment! The cheese is amazing! You have to try the cheese pairing if you get the wine! I love Bright Cellars and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to spice up their wine collection!
No way to cancel on the site. Emails bounced. Phone number just yields 'all of our concierges are busy" on multiple calls. No response on twitter. No response on Facebook. Left a voicemail saying that I will dispute charges and refuse delivery. We'll see if that produces the desired cancellation.
I signed up for a wine delivery due to a deal I got. My wife and I enjoyed the wine we received, but it took forever for us to get it. My card was charged more than 2 weeks before our wine was delivered, and shipping itself only took 3 days. The website made it clear that it could take 7 business days to ship the wine due to COVID, but it took a fair bit longer than that. They are quite happy to take your money, but don't deliver in an reasonable time.
Customer service was pretty responsive when it came to quelling my frustration about the wine not getting shipped. After sending them an e-mail (it's that or phone) to cancel my subscription, however, I got no response. I can no longer log into my account on the site, so with no confirmation I can just assume that they've cancelled it. If not, they can expect a dispute.
In your account setting/summary, it does not mention anything about shipments of wine or if you are locked into a reoccurring charge. You must email them to cancel your order. This company has a "Scam Artist" feel, I would not order from them or set up an account if you haven't already. As far as their wine. It is overly expensive and not very good quality. It is obvious they are trying to sell cheap wine and make you think that it is quality wine.
I have never had a bad experience with this company. The wines are amazing and they are the best I have used at picking wines that I will like. The customer service is stellar as well. I needed to pause my membership for a few months and it was so easy and no one tried to talk me out of it, they just put it on hold and were happy to help. I have spoken to them a few times over the phone and over email for various reasons and they are always pleasant and eager to help. Highly recommended!
I cannot even go into all the details of the problems with this $#*!ty-$#*!, scamming company. Good luck cancelling your service. I have tried to cancel 5 times and they keep billing my card and scamming me. HUGE SCAM. DONT DO IT. $#*!ty, $#*!ty customer service
Answer: Sorry! It's going to take forever for you to get in touch with them but I would go ahead an write concierge@brightcellars to put in a cancellation.
Answer: Just send an email to the concierge asking them to cancel. They will reply asking if you'd like to postpone your shipments. Just say no, you want to cancel. And they will cancel your account.
Answer: 4 to 5 days. It is usually pretty quick. They definitely keep you posted and supply tracking info so you are up to date.
Answer: Yes! And they left it on my porch without calling me. Fortunately, I noticed the email before it was stolen
Answer: Yes and No. While the company would prefer not to, for obvious reasons, they are also very customer service oriented and will work with you.
