I ordered a book to read and annotate over the weekend for a personal project, and ordered it before the advertised 1:30pm cut-off for same-day shipping. I received my receipt as of an hour later, I have received no shipping info or update. I tried to sign in with my credentials, tried a reset of my password, but the site is so poorly built, It cannot retain a valid password change. The main page now throws an error and I can no longer access the site, as the login popup disallows access yo the home-page. An awful experience. I will be taking this to the ACCC.
Still waiting for my order, read the fine print very closely people :( Order was placed on 14th of October with 5 to 10 days for shipping but still waiting for an update on leaving the warehouse
I had a voucher that I was unable to use due to the voluntary administration, and now they won't honour the voucher. Honestly I'll never buy from this website again, poor services and no wonder they went under.
Worst store ever. I ordered three books. Long waited. As a result, I get the answer: the first book is not available. The second one doesn't either. The third was sent, but not the one that ordered. If you don't want problems, choose books in another store!
Where are my books? I make an order on the 30th November. 2 weeks have passed and only one book is confirmed ready to come to me. This place is in Sydney, I am in Victoria. It is faster to get something from overseas than this half asleep country. I try to ring up but can't get through because high volume calls. The money has gone out of my account and now I expect these books before Christmas.
Like many others have mentioned says book is in stock then it's not and has to be orded from a warehouse. That was fine by me I made the order on the 5th of November for a gift on the 3rd of December yeah well I'm am currently still waiting for it to arrive.
I always turn to Booktopia for most of my university books, unless they just don't have what I am looking for which so far has been only on one occasion. The tracking service and hassle-free delivery is welcomed, only with the free delivery and various offers that come into my email. These often help when on a student budget and money is tight.
I placed my order just before Christmas and seeing it was such a busy time I did not expect to receive my purchase in 9 days!
I put up with bad things all the time and I'm tired of it. My latest experience with Booktopia is one of these bad experiences and I feel I want to say something so that business practices change. I purchased a book which clearly stated on the website that it would ship within 2 weeks. I chose Booktopia for this reason, because I thought I would get the book around a week sooner than an overseas business such as Amazon, thinking it is stock in Australia. After purchase and after following up a month later, I was informed that the book would take 6 weeks to arrive to the Sydney warehouse, then I would later be informed of a tracking number from there to Melbourne. This will be an 8-10 week delivery on an advertised 2-3 week delivery. Nowhere on the site mentioned the book was out of stock. It's a 'take the money, then order the product' company and consumers need to aware and information should be clearer. If you don't carry the product, please don't advertise that you do. I would have been happier paying double the book price for air-freight from overseas and receiving the book in the advertised period.
Having received a faulty product (book with repeated pages... very unusual), requested a replacement book. This request was rejected as I had not informed Booktopia within 2 days of receipt? I thought if you paid for a product, and received a faulty version, you are entitled to a replacement?!
Ordered three books from these guys (one was a little obscure) all were in stock and available to deliver immediately and received within the week I ordered.
Items were professionally packaged and arrived in mint condition.
Will definitely order again and found this internet purchase a very happy experience. Thanks Booktopia you will be hearing from me again
One of the books had a slightly ripped back cover. I was expecting all books to come without any defects as they are meant to be brand new. The packaging was robust with solid paper cardboard so the book was probably in this condition prior delivery. Delivery time was acceptable too.
There is a great variety of books to choose from, much better than any bookstore, and all of the books arrived well on time. It even allowed me to track my parcel, and cancel any payments, by far the best book company.
The low prices are of course a great achievement of this service, because it attracts customers and allows people to order whatever they need.
I like the fact that there is always up-to-date information and I can quickly find what I am interested in right now. It's really convenient and saves me a lot of time and money.
I'm more impressed with the customer service.
I don't know how they do it, but they always stay in touch and respond very quickly to any questions - it's a pleasure.
Screwed up my Christmas order. Very slack service and communication. Took my money without hesitation but had to wait for refund. No time left to get alternative Christmas gift. Very annoyed as website said item was in stock and I would receive before Christmas.
That was a terrible experience. Not again at all. I got a reader leather cover. And 4-5 days I sent an email them. The answer by customer service is '' too late'' in only 2 days we can help you!. Thanks, I will do not again with you!
I pre-ordered a book and when it arrived in stock (and was shipped), that stock was immediately put on sale regardless of my already having purchased full price.
I contacted them about this as to me it appeared to be a discrepancy and their explanation was deflecting toward my question, and they didn't really give me an explanation which seemed logical or sensible.
They explained that they had changed suppliers (printing company for the book).
The new stock was on sale, whereas the pre-order stock wasn't(despite coming into stock at the exact same time?), due to it being cheaper, according to the customer service individual (Jannah) who I spoke with.
However, the RRP of the new stock (Jannah said was cheaper) was almost $10 more than the pre-order stock I purchased (apparently the more expensive version, according to Jannah).
She never actually explained why a percentage discount wasn't applied to pre-orders versus fresh stock.
I would have been more than happy not receiving any level of refund if there had been an explanation which made sense and didn't seem like an attempt to insult my intelligence or just simply deflect my question.
Very poor experience and I would not purchase from this company again... Nor recommend anyone to purchase from them given my experience when there are a plethora of other more decently minded and run companies out there.
It seemed quite disingenuous and they replied with the a-typical corporate falsities in the guise of niceness and "appreciation" of my feedback (Again... Without ever actually addressing my point about the sale).
Choose Booktopia over Amazon, always.
Dont support a slave owning, billionaire giant when you can support Australia :)
Answer: Hope you got your books! The website has a great system now where you can click on a contact button from within the order and a while range of options pops up that I have found very useful with a response usually within 12 hours (usually an hour).
