I reached out to Scarlett Simpson (*******@blockshopper.com) asking to please remove my personal information from the blockshopper.com site that they had obtained by scrubbing public records. After a few weeks I finally received a response that they would not remove my personal information without a copy of the police report or restraining order and after they have reviewed these documents. Absolutely horrible abuse of public information.

They do not respect the Consumer Protection Rights of any state when you request to opt-out and have your personal information removed from their website and databanks. This is a violation of state laws. They should be prosecuted for ignoring such consumer rights and closed down for such non-compliance. Their phone number *******880 is merely a message to contact Scarlett Simpson at *******@blockshopper.com to lodge a complaint. I did just that and she replied that they do not remove such data unless a court order demands it. What kind of BS is that? I urge everyone to contact their respective State Attorney General to investigate and fine this company for this behavior. Also contact Federal agency... https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/

Tip for consumers:
You should be able to have your personal information removed from any website business by requesting to opt-out... Google how to do it.

Blockshopper.com collects and publishes private info for a profit. They refuse to remove private info even if it's a security threat. This borders on criminal behavior. They do not respect anyone's privacy.

This company does not remove your personal and private information easily when asked and I have witnessed this personally. There are very many new privacy laws being created, such as the Illinois BIPA law which recently shut down some Clearview AI services nationwide as recently as this week, even though the law was created for only one state. These same new types of laws will eventually be able to get BlockShopper to comply with Opt Out requests, so keep monitoring them. In the meantime, stay away from BlockShopper and contact BBB, ACLU, etc. and let them know about your complaints. Also voice your concerns on other review sites such as this one.

Tip for consumers:
Knowing all of the current state and nationwide privacy laws is helpful.

This website aggregates real estate property transactions with your social media profiles. If you google search your name, you may find your personal, private address listed as a search result.

They are jeopardizing people's safety by aggregating real estate property transaction records, and then making maps and directions to where you live. Thousands of people nationwide have requested removal only to be rudely refused or ignored. They repeatedly prioritize revenue above the safety of human beings.

Being a homeowner should not mean your personal information, privacy, and safety should be compromised just so the website owners can make a profit. Contact your local legislators to ban the website and/or protect your private information!

I wrote Scarlett Simpson (we should find her info and plaster it everywhere) and requested to be removed because they plaster all your info on the internet and she wrote me back some BS speech they feed everyone. Can we file a class action law suit? Or complain anywhere? We should be able to fight this.
Scumbag company with no morals

I contacted blockshopper.com requesting them to suppress my information from their company's public search results for privacy reasons. Reputable companies providing similar services honor such requests, but I received a reply from Scarlett Simpson (*******@blockshopper.com) denying my request. Based on other reviews here, it appears that blockshopper.com in fact is not a reputable company.

Tip for consumers:
This is obviously not a reputable or trustworthy company. I would advise against any business dealings with this company.

I don't understand how and why a company has to list full names and addresses of property owners. Why can't they list the price without the personal information. Why can't I opt out? Its like pulling teeth.

Inaccurate as well as unethical, this website gives out personal addresses and names of people with disregard to safety or requests to remove. How valuable can this site actually be? You can go to city records for tax information, however they actually mask the names because the are much more reputable and responsible. I can't imaging what kind of people run this website. I also notice that the $ information they present isn't correct. All of these sites, if they are going to continue to make a sad living off this, need to provide for an opt out, and most do. However this one asks for court documentation of a stalker or that you are law enforcement. Really? Who would actually start a site and think this is a good business model? Seriously STAY AWAY AND LET THIS TRASH DIE!

This company is truly horrific.
I keep to myself and keep my internet impact very low. There are very few results that return when you Google my name. Until Blockshopper. I was so happy to buy my very first home last year. However, Blockshopper decide to rain on that parade by taking my full name and posting it along with my full private home address on the internet.
Now, if a stranger or person with malicious intent decides to Google my name, they get my full address on a nice easy to find platter!
I have obviously emailed Scarlett and implored her to simply change my last name to my last initial so I could have SOME security in my home. Blockshopper claims that wanting to feel safe in your own home isn't a good enough reason to have your last name shortened on the website.
I even explained to her that my mentally ill mother (who has threatened to harm me and my property on multiple occasions) has recently Googled me and found out where I live. Wonderful! I have been HIDING from her for years, and now she knows exactly where I live - all thanks to Blockshopper.
This company does not care at ALL about the general population's safety and well-being. They refuse to do something that would take away nothing from the purpose of their site (change my last name to my initial, I told them I don't care if the price I paid is up, etc). They would rather maintain that their site is "legit" than be decent and show some concern for another human being.

As a retired member of the Law Enforcement community, I am thankful for companies like people search, etc. who go out of their way to remove information that may lead to tracking of public servants. They error on the side of caution and strongly support the people who protect our local communities, putting the lifes of those who protect over making a dollar.

This however is not the case for an out of State company blockshopper.com, that collects data from local California cities and resales and displays information about where people have or may lived.

Rather that support local law enforcement and government workers, blockshopper.com would rather use loop holes in the legal language and put our local Law Enforcement and public officials in harms way by publicly displaying names and addresses of past and current public servants. There response when requesting the information to be removed is, this appears to be sold properties, send up your current address. REALLY?

I have recently written the Attorney Generals office and asked for their assistance which this problem. Its a shame that companies like this refuse to support those who are protecting your community. I would ask that everyone BOYCOTT blockshopper.com whether you are a business, individual or advertiser.

I'm adding to the above complaints. There is no need to publish names. It is a vile act of privacy. An antiquated law in a time of stalkers, credit card scammers and other criminals. I hope the site and it's rude staff get shut down.

These people [this is a stretch] behind this site are bad for the Internet and bad for America. In addition to scraping data for websites that pay for data, they offer no opt-out function which would protect social workers and others that work with dangerous people. Blockshopper could careless if an innocent person is harmed or ID is stolen.

I canceled my home insurance with Pemco because they were advertising on www.blockshopper.com

Same as everyone else.
I think we need a lawyer to do a class action suit against this company and any others that publish people's home address and do not allow opt-out.

As with those previously noted- blockshopper.com has refused to remove my personal data even when informed that I had a stalker that could find me & harm my family. The open door they have created for credit card fraud is also a huge issue and the surface has only been scratched on this. Why a website would want to put people in harms way in this manner is beyond my understanding.

They show everyone's addresses and refuse to let people opt out, even if there is a safety issue (like someone being stalked, or someone working in a job that places them at risk). Worse, their pages get indexed by google so anyone can find you with a simple google search. People angry about this website are banding together to do something about it at www.OptOutMovement.org

The information is simply wrong, they siphon information from other social community sites and re-use content and pictures in clear copyright infringement. Add to that list the breach of privacy and it is hard to do worse. I wonder which business would want to associate its reputation to that kind of dishonest activity.

This site posts personal information about property values INCLUDING owners names. For my personal security purpose, as well as privacy, I don't wish this information to be posted as an open search.

I contacted the company and they said they would not remove my personal name, address and property value. This openly reports this information for friends, customers, vendors, thiefs, and others.

Don't I have any rights to my own privacy? If not, this is WRONG!

This website publishes home addresses and names which are frequently credit card billing addresses. It will cause unprecedented levels of online fraud on E-Commerce websites which do not require a ccv code. The people that run this site are truely the scum of the earth. It is also now possible to find out a young girl's address because of the fact that she is listed on her High School's honor roll. Thats right, we not talking Facebook folks. Simply copy her last name, school name, and the word "blockshopper" and you get her parents address.
