I was in the process of ordering 5 greeting cards and when I went to pay, I was being charged $14 for shipping! Even if each card needed 2 stamps, at most it would cost $4! I was given the run around and had to make several attempts to contact Customer Service (which is a wireless phone) which proved to be no help. They would not waive the shipping fee. All they would offer was joining their "club" for $30/year to receive free shipping! This order didn't include anything heavy - just 5 cards! I will never try to order from them again and advise you to do the same.
Bought some books at Xmas for my wife. I got the books, but they automatically signed my up for some book club that started billing me every month. When I tried to cancel it they send me to some other company the wants to give me a Free $100 Walmart gift card. If I say no, they disconnect you. I got three different numbers from their customer service and they all did the same thing. Never use them! I had to call my Credit Card company to dispute all charges and block them to get it to stop. What a SCAM!
I purchased more than $170 in books and toys for my niece's kids and they were never delivered.
I contacted customer service at least five times through the website and never received a reply.
I also wrote an actual LETTER (remember those things?) and never received a reply to that, either.
I have always liked Bas Bleu books and gifts, but I will never order anything from them again.
Looking for a sight for the book lovers on your list, this is it. Ordering was easy and swift. Shipping can be expensive as it is with most sights so make sure you order enough to make it worth your while. All gifts arrived as expected well in time for the holidays.
I have been buying from Bas Bleu for many years and only one small problem, which they solved right away. I find their products good value and just as described and their customer service professional, helpful and efficient.
I found something I really wanted, but I needed an address. The next day after I found the address I went back, and it said, "cannot find this." What? So I sent an email. "We'll get back to you in 24-48 hours." It's been four days, and no response. So I called. I sat on hold for an entire HOUR and finally gave up. Seriously? I understand that companies are short-handed. But this is beyond the pale. I will never try to order from them again. And I suggest you do not either.
I have been a Bas Bleu customer for years and have always enjoyed receiving the catalogs. Last November when I ordered Christmas gifts, however, I was "signed up" for a $14.95 per month "Insider" program which, (my bad) I only just discovered. I'm sorry to say this, but I am now a very disgruntled former customer who can never make up for the $90. I'm still trying to discover just how I lost.
I've been a customer of Bas Bleu for about 20 years - I did not make a lot of purchases but usually 2-3 items a year for birthdays. I recently found out that Bas Bleu has been charging me $14.95/month for some crappy VIP program. I called to get it canceled and the customer rep told me I should have realized it earlier because I did check a box and received a confirmation email, which he admitted probably went to my spam folder. This is a company I made sure to buy from even though it was always cheaper on Amazon and I had to pay shipping and they often had delivery issues. I also asked to leave my feedback and the customer rep told me that management sometimes reviewed their calls - Well, can't fix a problem if you don't know about it! I will not be shopping with this company again, although I might use their catalog to pick out items on Amazon :)
Customer Service (CS) was hell to deal with as needed to change an order that had just been placed. The order did not indicate when would receive items. Called on Sunday and was told to call Monday. On Monday called (several times as got different answers every time) to see if could expedite. CS said no. I asked if I could cancel and re-order with expedited shipping. CS said no. I asked to speak with mgmt and was given number that turned out to be the order line. Order line said I could cancel since it had not yet shipped or charged my credit card but had to call CS. CS said ok to cancel but someone would call to cancel order. No one ever called. After calling trying to get help from CS was told "Oh you called too late to cancel. Should have called 2 hours ago". I explained I had and several times. CS told me too bad and I had to pay to return items. Is it fake company? Or is Customer Service intentionally sabotaging them?
Ordered a n advent calendar almost two weeks ago. They shipped it to ME instead of the intended recipient. This company uses OSM, which I have never heard of, then turns the package over to USPS. It was too late to rectify the wrong address system...or so I thought. I wrote them and told them this and no one bothered to reply. I knew I would have to mail it to Arizona after it arrived here, after paying to have it shipped to the WRONG address. I was hopeful I would get it, re-mail it, and It would arrive by the 1st. It's an ADVENT calendar. Worthless after Dec 1st. I still don't know where the package is and it's 11/30. I'd give this company 0 stars if I could.
My Bas Bleu experience was very poor. I ordered an Advent calendar for a friend thinking two weeks would be plenty of time for shipping. She didn't receive the calendar until 4 days after Advent. I paid roughly $11 for standard shipping, and the site said it would take 4-6 business days for delivery. I kept watching the tracking and contacting customer service as the first day of Advent came and went. Customer service and supervisory customer service said they couldn't do anything about it, and that if I was having a shipping problem I would have to contact the shipping company myself. They said they wouldn't doing anything to help me until 13 business days after I placed my order, which would be today. My friend received her gift yesterday.
I am super disappointed, especially when there are so many ways to order things with free shipping, and when customer service can be so helpful these days.
I will never purchase anything from Bas Bleu again.
I ordered a gift from this site. The company inadvertently sent it to the incorrect address (I pointed this out to them on the order confirmation, however, they did not correct it after saying they did). The item finally returned to them on 5/19/2020... and now they say it will take at least 3 weeks before they can reship to the correct address? DO NOT RECOMMEND ordering from their site.
Uncaring, defensive customer service. Sent my order minus 2 things. They re-sent the order with expired, broken product. Cardboard insert to hold item was torn up, looked like it had been used, but was sealed from outside. If not expired, I would have shipped this mess unknowingly as a gift.
I tried to place an order with Bas Bleu, but wasn't able to, as the screen said "processing" for several minutes. I closed the screen, and checked my email to see if the order had gone through. I did not receive a confirmation, so i made what i thought was a reasonable assumption—the order hadn't been placed. I tried to place same the order again. This time the order went through, and i received a email confirmation. Several days later, I was surprised to received two separate packages from Bas Bleu, both with the same order number. I wanted to return the duplicate item, but didn't feel i should have to pay the $11.99 price to return the item, as I hadn't ordered two separate items. I called Bas Bleu, got no satisfaction from the person i spoke to in customer service and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told there were none available, but a supervisor would call me back within an hour. That was several days ago. Still waiting for a call back. While waiting, i sent Bas Bleu an email, asking for them to pay the return postage and not bill me back. The following day i got an email from Bas Bleu, who apparently did not read the email all the way through, as they sent a return shipping label and told me i would be billed $11.99 for the return. I emailed them again— NO RESPONSE AT ALL.
I took the item i wanted to return to the post office and asked them what it would cost to ship it back to Bas Bleu. Only $6.70 if i sent the item back via the post office!
So, a very unhappy FORMER customer. I should have ordered the item from Amazon.
I ordered a $27 hardback -- The Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead. I received Circling the Sun by Paula McLain in a paperback listing for $17. The sweatshirt I also ordered was poor quality and sent in the wrong size.
Bas Bleu sells the most exquisite greeting cards that are like sending a gift to a friend.
One variety is a pop up Windjammer which is stunning. They have many others to choose from.
I placed two orders with them (with items going to different addresses, and received two confirmatory emails. Checked the website a few days later and all items had been cancelled--I received no email or other communication from them. When I called, I was told that my card had a charge back against them--I have only had the card a few months and there was no charge back. Called back (first person barely spoke English) and a very nice person suggested I reorder. I did so, which took quite a while since she was beyond slow, but very nice. Fast forward a few days, one order was sent and the other cancelled. Called again--supposedly a charge back issue again, but couldn't explain why one order was sent. The odd thing is that with *all* people I spoke to I was repeatedly asked the same question such as order numbers, and even my name. The third person I spoke to kept calling me an unrelated name despite being told numerous times what my name was. I've never experienced anyting like this before--I'd love to have a copy of the recording for a comedy routine. Needless to say, I will *never* buy anything from them again. Never.
I ordered a book as a Christmas gift. When I placed the order, I received an email that the book was on back order and was expected Dec 2. I heard nothing else. But when I went to check the status, I found out they are not getting it until December 26.
There was no way to cancel it online so I called a customer service number, where I was told they couldn't cancel it because I had to call a different number. I did and got a recording that all lines are busy.
I went to Bas Bleu's website and they had a chat feature which also was busy but they suggested I leave an email, so I did canceling the order. I also looked closely at the email confirmation of my order and noticed it said in fine print that I could change my order by replying to their email, so I asked to cancel the order and requested confirmation. I have not heard anything yet.
Based on what I've seen here I am going to aggressively follow up so that I don't get charged for this book, which I've already ordered for $7 less on Amazon. I also don't want to have to return it at my expense in January.
I will never used this company again.
Bas Bleu used to be one of my favorite catalogs to shop from, and reaching Customer Service was easy and convenient. At some point in the last six months, that has all changed. On Jan. 26th, I ordered a gift certificate to be sent to my email address. A week passed, and no gift certificate—but my payment was processed. I called Customer Service (which has been outsourced overseas along with the ordering department) to find out where my gift certificate was. They didn't know and they didn't know why it hadn't been sent out. They then offered to send me a paper gift certificate in the US mail. Another week passed, and still nothing from Bas Bleu. I called today and talked to two different people, who both assured me it had been mailed on Feb. 8th. One of them asked if I had checked my mail today, and didn't believe me when I told them I had. (It would take more than two days to travel across the country from Ohio anyway.) They now say I should have it by Feb. 21st which is nearly a month from when I ordered it. They will quickly process your payment, but good luck getting your order fulfilled! I have also used the email contact form on the Bas Bleu website which says you will receive a response in 24-48 hours. Ha! The company has never responded to that email. Maddening, disappointing, frustrating. I will NEVER order from Bas Bleu again.
I order a Christmas present never got it never heard back from CS, except for order verification.
