Me sick with a rotting foot. Don't provide sex or vaccination records of animal. Died a month after having him. We had to feed him with a syringe few days after getting him shipped to us. Didn't make it.
First off I ordered 2 water dragons. When I received the box there was only 1 water dragon in the box. The water dragon was also sick and was injured. When I contacted them they sent out 2 water dragons and well 2 ended up arriving but they were also sick as well. Well now all 3 of them have passed away within a couple weeks of me having them. I contacted them to let them know that all 3 of them have died. They will not do anything about it since I do not have a picture of all 3 of them together dead. When I have a picture of all 3 of them just not in the same picture since they did not die at the same time. As is I contacted them when the first dragon died and they never did email me back and then a couple days later the other 2 passed away. This would not be such a big deal for me if I did not spend $150 for the lizards to die. I will never use these guys again. I will go through someone else.
Order a snake spent a lil over $300 with shipping. Was told to call a 1800 number for FedEx to have the animal sent their for pick up. FedEx auto system gave me a list I picked the one closest to me. It was signed for at the location at 333pm picked up a lil after 4pm. Get home by 430pm snake is dead. Spent days emailing them cause no one answers the phone. Finally get told I'm not getting reimbursed or a new snake for free cause I picked an unacceptable location... that FedEx gave me. Now they did offer a discount to send me a new snake I just needed to pay an additional $250... I would buy a snake from them. They do not honor their live arrival guarantee. Will be taking my business to underground instead. Got a blue iguana from them that is amazing.
Do not order off this site! They take your money, don't send the product, don't return the money and manipulate you about checking your emails. I bet this website will be closed down soon!
If you purchased anything from this company with your credit card. Especially live animals. You can dispute it with your credit card company. Save all emails between back water and yourself just in case the process does escalate. Be truthful. I think you'll be surprised with the outcome. Enough is enough with this company. This company should be shut down and out of business And red flagged.
This company is a complete rip off. I am in complete shock of all the reviews that I have read. Let alone in shock with my experience alone with this company. I hope everybody disputes their charges if you were done wrong by this company.
They suck I can't get a hold of them don't buy no animals from them get them from your local breeder my first time shopping with them to check experience it was awful I woke up this morning to find out my snake is dead I wasted like $200
I spent over $300 on a snake, I paid the shipping, then when my snake didn't arrive, I was eventually told there would be a 500-dollar fee for insurance to ship the snake. I double-checked the website. This is not stated anywhere! Now they refuse to refund my money for the order!
Received three very healthy albino baby turtles, and keeping them under lightless-heat in order to protect their eyes, which for anyone with albino pets of any species I very strongly recommend so your albinos don't go blind. Also, for anyone considering turtle hatchlings, one of my photos shows a dark soil bottom which I soon had to cover with larger gravel because the babies were eating it, so please keep in mind they should not be able to eat the substrate.
Anyway, I asked for three of the friendliest hatchlings, and that is what I received. Very calm and healthy animals that are comfortable with safe handling. I have ordered only a few animals from BWR spanning over the past decade or so. I've always received a healthy animal, even in some weather conditions that pushed the limits of what would be considered safe temperatures according to their website, though I wouldn't recommend doing that. Even delicate animals like chameleons and praying mantises came safely and without issue. I think those who haven't done research on live animal shipments should do so and consider the risks and realities of what can happen before leaving a poor review. Also, read their "Shipping" and "7-Day-Guarantee" pages on the website.

Purchased a salamander about 2 weeks ago. Was put in the smallest container possible so he had to completely curled up. Stressed, and I'm assuming wild caught because he hasn't eat yet and has only just starting to come out of hiding. His skin was sluffing off in the container, so either mid molt or Stressed. I will just get animals from elsewhere. They're higher priced here anyway.
They lie. Their whole guarantee and percent of animals that arrive DOA. All lies. They will send you a dead animal and rob you. After they rob you they'll turn off the phone during their business hours. Please do your business elsewhere.
We purchased a Russian tortoise from Backwater Reptiles a few months ago. The tortoise arrived next day in perfect health and well packaged. We now had the tortoise for a few months and had him checked out and he's in great health and has been a very fun and active pet. Backwater Reptiles has my trust for my future Reptile purchases. I received my green tree frog about a week ago- she was relatively small and never very active. I cared for her as i should- misting her when needed and feeding her. She never ate the entire time i had her. I would put food out for her or even near her and she never touched it. She was always hiding and never to be seen often. She hardly ever moved or jumped around from one spot unless i moved her. I woke up today and had a dead frog. I am beyond disappointed and depressed. I did everything to care for her and make sure she was in shape. I'm going to assume she arrived sick due to the fact she was never active and never ate. I did everything i could and she still passed away. She will not move or react to being misted like she used to. This is just so devastating. What should i do? This is just not acceptable- it really deeply hurts people when their pets pass away. Please realzie that and help me from here
I ordered a animal and paid extra for overnight for a reason. Didn't show up in time table it said tried to cancel the delivery through them they tell me to call FedEx. FedEx tells me only the shipper can cancel the delivery for security reasons I tell them that and they say that I am wrong and they cannot cancel the delivery there was a reason why I needed it overnight so that I would have it in time before nobody could sign for the package.
I purchased a Cane Toad from BackWaterReptiles. I ended up spending a little over $80 in total for the whole thing including the shipping fee. Fortunately, The UPS delivery was on time. Unfortunately, no one was home to sign it. We instructed UPS to leave the reptile at a facility for pickup that same day. I picked it up from my local UPS location. I unboxed the package only to find a dead Cane Toad. I was very upset and contacted BackWaterReptiles. I sent them all the proof they asked for of the dead reptile. I asked for a refund or a replacement. They offered a discount. That's right, a discount for another Cane Toad. Not only that, they also explained how it will only get delivered to a UPS Facility for costumer pickup. I found this to be unfair and explained to them why it was unfair. They ignored my concerns and only allowed a discount. The Cane Toad was packaged into a small cramped bag with no space or heater/cooler. DO NOT ORDER!
I ordered a tortoise from them. Within two days she was dead. I was asking for a refund or a new animal but when she arrived she was covered in feces and urine and the box was soiled so I threw it away... needless to say they made an easy 180 dollars that they refused to refund.
There is a phone number which nobody will ever answer. There is an email which you can use for communication. They will gladly take your money for an order which they don't have in stock and email you days later with all sorts of excuses as to why they can't communicate with you. Worst customer service ever! Do yourselves a favor and buy from a company where you can speak with a live person who can assist you and a company who can communicate with you. If they can't communicate, you can't trust them!
I got a chameleon, she was supost to be 3-4 inches but when she arrived she was 2 inches way to small to be shipped. She lived less then 24 hours, Britney is not willing to do anything said she has been shipping for years and has never had an issue clearly this is not correct. By at your own risk!
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SHADY BUSINESS! They send nothing but unhealthy reptiles. We spent a lot of money at this bull$#*! business and many of the southern painted turtles were dead on arrival or died with a wk. When contacted they didn't care at all. They told us to show proof of the dead turtles which we did and still didn't offer to fix this. So we ended up buying 2 more hoping it was just a fluke but yet again 2 dead on arrival and one died in 2 weeks. We have had many turtles and know how to care from them so it was nothing we did. They're shady business practices were the problem. They don't know how to treat the reptiles or their customers. Do yourself a favor and find a different place to buy from so you don't have crying kids everytime you receive a package from them.
I ordered Fire Skinks and Cuban Anoles from this site and was very happy with my purchase. I will continue to buy reptiles from this site in the future. Currently I buy feeder insects because their prices are far below what they cost at pet outlets. Crickets, hornworms, mealworms, etc are at prices that can't be beat. Unfortunately I live in a winter tundra and may postpone purchases for awhile, but if temperatures are right, this is a great reptile and food purchase.
My chameleon showed up and she wouldnt eat wouldnt drink. About an hour after unboxing her she threw up a parasite. Not even 6 hours of getting her she was dead. $#*! this company absolutely disgusting

Answer: Scam I ordered chickens from other companies and they ship live animals to my PO box this company claims that live animals cannot be shipped to a PO box the mail department USPS offices will call and contact the post box owner to notify them that they have live animals there for them to pick up and they have a certain amount of time approximately 4 hours to pick up so you schedule your day of your shipping arrival in order to get it picked up I have ordered numerous chickens ducks turkeys quail I've even ordered lizards and spiders from other companies and I've always had them shipped to my PO box in this company refuses to or at least that's their excuse and then when you ask for your money back at least stop talking to you and don't give you your money
