“DO NOT USE THEM!”

They'll let you run out of propane in the middle of winter, leaving you with no heat or hot water. Please please please use a different company. Their customer service is overseas and they won't transfer you to the local office. All you get from them is LIES!

Do not use this company at all. They lie, inflate their prices, tack on a million fees on top of charging you a 200.00 tank fee with a rusty tank with a broken gauge. They use that excuse to make multiple refills. I had two deliveries within 4 days. I've tried to cancel auto refill multiple times to no avail. Crazy above market gas prices plus all their added fees. Drivers are lovely but that's it. Customer service is useless and really won't do anything. Avoid this company like the plague!

Verified purchase

I've had to call them 8 times today because the so called customer service gives me a different number to call each time, puts me on hold. One time I was put on hold for twenty minutes and then hung up on. The sad thing is I've been trying to take care of this for weeks and said today I was going to keep calling until this was resolved but no luck. Once I can purchase this propane tank from them, I will never use these awful people again!

Canceled my service after 8 1/2 years. One more service failure! Tank empty even though they show 33%. Called to ask why their system failed. Rep kept saying "I don't know " to every question I asked. Absolutely no help. Promised a delivery today. At 7pm still no delivery. I canceled my service. It will now cost 199.95 to have their tank picked up!🤬🤬🤬. High prices and very poor customer service. Sadly they do not care.

Tip for consumers:
Avoid this company unless you want very poor customer service.

They owe me $788.88 for gas left in 2 tanks when I moved since Jan 2023. Not only have they not refunded my money, They are billing me $400 and late fees are adding up. I've called 16 times having to hold for long waits each time i get transferred to a different department and the end result is they hang up. When i do get through they say they have resolved the issue and that I will get a check. Never comes and late fees are piling up.

Called Friday at 8:45 and paid the extra $300 dollars for delivery within 24 hours, Never Got it. Called 8 times and was finally told it would be 4 days later. That is not what I paid for at all. It is now Saturday at 1:57 and still no propane, can not get a supervisor on the phone, I will never do business with them again. Thompson Gas for me now and forever.

Beware of this company! Amerigas charred me $217.00 to come out and look at the tanks and did absolutely nothing. Then they charged me $139.00 to remove their tanks. Amergas also will not credit me for the 30% of propane they took when tanks were removed. Been waiting for 5 months for credit but they bill me each month with a late charge. $400.00 plus billed and not one gallon of propane received. Pricing is crazy. Amerigas wanted $4.60 a gallon for my garage, my new service charged me $2.45 a gallon.

Amerigas is the worst company I've ever dealt with when it comes to utilities. While every call with their godforsaken call center assures me I'm a "valued customer," I haven't had propane since May 12. Every time someone has come to repair or refill, it takes 3-4 days, and I still don't have working gas.

When our hot water and gas stove stopped working, I paid for expedited service for them to refill the tank, which I didn't get. When I finally got them to show up, on May 16, I was told to schedule a repair. It was scheduled for May 22. They didn't show up. They "fixed" the tank on May 24, but couldn't refill it until today, May 27. Today, the deliveryman couldn't get the gas to work, despite trying for an hour. He put in a service request and I called. Soonest they can come is June 1.

Every time I call they "escalate" my request and "expedite" what they can, and they still come at the very last moment. My gas delivery could have come 3 days ago if it had actually been expedited, and this problem would have been found sooner, but nope, that's not the way they operate. I didn't even know a temporary tank was a possibility until I started calling around for new service, and another company suggested it. I asked Amerigas customer service if they could bring one, and from what I can tell, even if they could, they still wouldn't be able to do it before my next appointment. Why? No idea.

At this point I'm trying to saturate the Internet with as many bad reviews as I can. I have small kids and don't have any hot water, can't do dishes or laundry, and we're heating water in the microwave to bathe. I can't wait to switch companies. I won't be happy until there's either a class action lawsuit or they go out of business. Absolutely the worst company I've ever worked with.

Amerigas SUCKS!
Simply put.
My 85 year old mother was lied to several times trying to get the 100 gallons of propane she paid for 5 months in advance. This company - AMERIGAS- is a POS company and they take your Mother's money and make her wait 5 months later. POS company - any questions?

Never have I've been more upset at the fact that you can schedule someone 4 $#*!en times and fail every single time. Not only does you service team suck, so do the customer support members who never have an idea of what is going on. Completely incompetent dumbasses who do not know what is left from right. Hopefully you get shutdown for good.

I had Amerigas for 11 years and a couple of years ago everything changed and you didn't talk to anyone local anymore. I have been on automatic refill for at least 10 of those years and a couple of months ago I completely ran out of propane. When I called they said they would send someone right away. Needless to say after 6-7 phone calls and a day with no propane so no hot water or cooking I called a different company and had a new full tank that day. We are going on 3 months and they still have not picked up their tank. I have called 3 times about that and am told someone will contact me within 24hours and it has never happened.

Do not use this company! Horrible customer service! All calls are taken by people outside U.S. with very hard to understand accents! Plus, it was their fault my propane ran completely out and they waited over 30 hours before refilling the tank! They are too big and too callous!
On February 22nd my house in Vermont was getting colder even though I was running the furnace. I checked the Amerigas online tank gauge and it said tank was at 57%. I then called and had my furnace service come out to fix the furnace. They came and said nothing was wrong with furnace, that I was completely out of propane!
I called Amerigas twice on the 22nd. They informed me it might take up to 48 hours to get a refill! I said that was unacceptable. I always asked to speak to a supervisor and said it was an emergency but the representatives said no supervisor was available. The Amerigas number always connected me to a call center outside the U.S. and I could hardly understand them.

I spent all day yesterday on phone trying to see when the propane would be delivered as there was a winter storm warning for the next day and I did not want my pipes to freeze. No one gave me a window for when it would be delivered.
Finally, at 6 pm they delivered the propane, over 30 hours after I called them for an emergency propane delivery! Terrible company. I am canceling service.

We called a month ahead to cancel our business with Amerigas. The last fill went from185.00 a month to 326.00 month. Said we used extra gas the previous billing. We used 18 gals more! Rip offs! We called to cancel and look out for the extra billing charges! We call get our bill fixed by customer support and I guess it is standard to keep you calling back because everything they say doesn't go through as fixed! We have been on the phone numerous calls to fix what the last person said they were fixing and they have no record. The last guy asked for the extension of the person we worked with? Gave name but didn't have that number. When we asked for his extension, he would not give it out! So how can we give that number to him? Duh! Still working on the billing as they snuck in another fee after we were told the bill owed was less! Attorney General of Ohio will be shown our complaint and all paperwork on the companies bad consumer practices. Never have we seen a business treat the elderly like this. Found a local company that is way lower pricing, are at their phones, not off shore, and willing to work with any issue you have. Steer clear of this company. Boy did Erie Propane rip off all those customer they sold out to!

Amerigas keeps billing me for a tank I bought from them years ago. They bill me every year and every year I spend an hour convincing them that I already paid off the tank. They promise to fix it but never do. And they rarely answer their phones.

I've read the reviews here and mine is very similar.

I've had Amerigas for nearly 20 years and during most of that time I could walk into the office, pay my bill, ask for service, etc. The entire process seamless and customer service was very good. Covid changed everything, the local offices in my area never opened again once Michigan went on lock down. Apparently after Covid Amerigas determined it was cheaper to have clueless children in Mexico and Taiwan answer the phone than employing locals. Big mistake…, customer service is now no-existent. The worst I have ever experienced with any company.

I have a 1000 lb tank buried in my yard and want to buy it. I've called 3 times to inquire about a price. 1st I was told they won't sell any tanks larger than 289 gallons, 2nd call I was told I could buy it for $2500 and the 3rd time I was told they don't sell ANY tanks. Even IF I believed the $2500 price, HOW could I trust ANYONE in another Country that can barely speak English...? It's SO frustrating it's comical.

Long story short, I contacted a local propane supplier that does employ locals. I had a new full tank delivered in 2 days. The price difference PER GALLON was $1.37.

I obviously should have made the change long ago.

I've had an open trench running over 50 feet in my yard, which is dangerous (and I've sprained my ankle as a result of this) for nearly 4 months (June 3rd marks 4 months), because Amerigas has not filed paperwork with my city, and my city has explained that their hands are tied, I cannot fill the trench in until it has been inspected, which cannot happen until Amerigas files paperwork with the city. After numerous attempts to get this resolved, I am no closer to having a safe yard. Plus, I also cannot use the propane that I paid over $1000 to have installed until this is resolved. I want the permits filed, and Amerigas to move forward with next steps so that i can use the propane tanks.

Details:
On February 3rd, Amerigas installed 2 above ground propane tanks, and underground lines to the house and the patio. The technician explained that next steps are that Amerigas will file permits, and then we can contact the city for inspection, and not to refill the trench until after the inspection.
After a couple weeks of checking online to see if the permits had been filed yet, and seeing no updates, I contacted customer service (2/28). That representative told me that it was likely because I hadn't paid my invoice yet. I had not yet received an invoice (I was told they had just sent it via mail that week-- I actually never did receive the invoice; so during that call, I made a payment over the phone. The bill was $400 more than I was quoted for the work, because the person who came out to quote for the service in January had not written down nor verbally notified me that there would be an additional fee of $200 per hour for labor, and there were 2 hours of labor added to the bill. I paid the additional fee, because I didn't feel that there was anything I could do about it. The quote also included permit fees, and I was told by the technician at the time of install that Amerigas would file the permits as part of their service.
I have called customer service numerous times in the past few months and had no updates or other movement on the issue. Because I had no luck with customer service, I even tried texting the technician who did the install several times, but he has not replied ever.
In early May out of desperation, I attempted to filed the permits onmy own (despite having paid Amerigas for this). Unfortunately, I was unable to complete the filing myself, because the city notified me that Amerigas does not have a business license in my city. They explained that Amerigas would need to file for a business license first. They also confirmed that i need to leave the trench open until the inspection is completed, but that the inspection couldn't be done until the permit is filed; so until Amerigas applies for a business license with my city, there is nothing more I can do. On May 9th, I called customer service again, they scheduled an appointment for someone to file the permit (for the record, I don't understand what the point of this appointment was; the appointment was supposed to be on 5/18, but Amerigas was no call/no show for appointment). The same customer service rep also transferred me to the "Resolution Department" on May 9th. In the Resolution Department, it seemed they understood my complaint, and said they would be in touch. After not hearing back for 13 days, I called again and spoke to another person in the Resolution Department. I was told they would get back to me that day. 2 days later, and still no answers.
I am stuck in a limbo in which it is dangerous to use my yard, and I paid money for propane tanks that I cannot even use.

I do not have an Amerigas account. I tried to establish one, but they claimed my address already had an account. The previous owner of my home had an account, which she closed in April, 2019.
Amerigas came to the home on the day we closed, and filled the LPG tanks, inspected the tanks, and were notified we'd purchased the home and needed a new account.

In September, Amerigas came onto my property and capped off/locked two tanks, one of which they own (had been leased to previous owner), and capped a tank owned by the home.

LET ME REITERATE.

AMERIGAS BROKE INTO A LOCKED GATE, ON WHICH THERE IS A "NO-TRESPASSING SIGN", AND LOCKED OFF LPG TANKS THEY DO NOT OWN OR LEASE. In any realistic world, this would be breaking and entering, with theft as an add-on.

They did not notify us that they were coming, and did not notify us that they'd been.
They *broke* through a locked gate, marked "NO TRESPASSING" in order to do so.
Then, they wanted a $150.00 inspection fee, wanted to charge us for the gas in the tank that the previous owner paid for, and want another $250 to uncap the tank that is privately owned (same tank they capped without permission).

When we threatened them with legal action and going to the BBB, they said "We don't want to do business with you, so 'eff off. " Now we are stuck with locked tanks, can't feed our stove, fireplace, nor spa and it's 30 degrees outside.
These are horrible people. I feel the local manager, Mr. Najarian, is a racist, foul-mouthed pig, on top of being a liar having made multiple claims about the previous owner of our home not having paid her bills (she sent us a copy of the closed account/paid balances), that the tanks were unsafe (Amerigas inspected the tanks when we took ownership), and that the previous owner had not transferred the fuel to us (the previous owner had written a letter Xferring the fuel). He also promised to amend the problem the same day, and it's 2 months past his promise, ergo, a lie.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

They are charging over a dollar more than market price. Here is the market price today: https://fuelwonk.com/vendor/eia-wisconsin-propane/*******/*******
$1.51 a gal. And they quoted me $2.57 a gal. Total rip off do not get a tank from Amerigas once you have their tank they start jacking the price. Watch out for the "intorductory price" Make sure you ask if it is. Because they will jack it a buck on you the next fill.
