All good! But one star less because the website still doesn't have direct information about the stock situation like on bookdepository or other bookstores, so it is possible that after a week or more, the order gets canceled by the seller, making you waste time and/or maybe losing a better offer somewhere else
Minor annoyances in entering billing info. Other online ordering schemes automatically put in spaces after every four digits of the credit card number; this makes it much easier to check for typos. And why can't you simply program to ignore an irrelevant trailing space in a US state code, instead of making a fuss about it. The whole reason that we use computers is to make life easier for our customers, innit?
Entering credit card number was not as convenient as at some other vendors. It is easier to check typing for errors with the credit card number entered as groups of 4 digits separated by spaces, e.g. 1234 5678 8765 4321. Some vendors put the spaces in for me while I am typing. Your procedure doesn't even let me put them in myself. This is the sort of thing that vendors can and should implement thoughtfully for their customers.
Easy to navigate. Attractive interface. A book/film/music shop that doesn't flood your screen with garden furniture, electrical goods, clothing, groceries, DIY goods, bicycles and countless other things you weren't looking for when you're just browsing or searching for a book.
First I had to change my (long unused so forgotten) password, instantly losing the books I'd reserved. Then found the ones I'd reserved were no longer available at anything but an exhorbitant amount. So I waited, returned a day later only to find it nigh on impossible to update my home address (we moved four years ago). Am now expecting to hear that the parcel is being sent to the unpleasant people who bought our old house or that my old address has been used for billing, leading to the bank cancelling the order.
Great - easy etc but one thing that could be improved is: when having found a book and THEN logging in, you loose the page you are on. This is not how most shopping webpages work. Minor thing but relevant for improving customer experience.
Hi, I don't understand how it is that my saved card details (which were successfully used to make a recent purchase) are today no longer valid. Which then requires me to input (and save) the identical details again in order to make another purchase today (?)
Thx,
Found item easily, easy to pay but not so easy to change method of payment
Easy to find article wanted, payment simple. Service in the past has been excellent and delivery has been good also
Good experience overall, found everything I was looking for and it all went smoothly. The website looks very outdated though. I nearly clicked off straight away as I thought it wouldn't be a legit business.
I do not appreciate that you offer a PayPal payment option but then still require a credit card submission and force payment onto my credit card!
A very dubious business practice that defeats the use use of Palpal while forcing credit card payment only in my view.
This is the second time I have given such feedback. So why bother having a Paypal button at all? It gives me cause not to trust doing business with your company.
Now let's see if I actually receive the books ordered?
No problem. Have used alibris in the past and had smooth orders. There is a fair warning about delays due to covid, so I am selecting UK vendors and will wait until a UK edition of a book becomes available.
On a phone, if you tick "my shipping address is different from my billing address" and then try to fill in the correct billing address, the field for post/zip code refuses to accept alphanumeric post codes - it needs a number instead. I managed to get around this by setting up several shipping addresses under my account details and then using one got shipping and the other for billing. If you set up addresses this way, the fields accept uk postcodes BUT if you don't and leave it till putting in your credit card details and then trying to add a correct billing address, it will not accept UK postcodes.
I've bought from alibris a few times always with a positive experience but this time I kept having to adjust my order so that the shipping wouldn't be £50+ for a £50 order. Maybe its the sellers selling used books for cheap and jacking up the shipping price or a bug on your site. Thank you.
I always turn to Alibris for secondhand books...always find what I want at the price I want and a helpful seller willing to send it to me in Spain. Excellent service at every stop on the way. And very easy to pay, too. Thank you so much.
Brilliant, I now go straight to Alibris for books because the prices are always reasonable and payment is so easy. Thank you...
Alibris is always excellent, good for prices, good for paying, totally reliable... thank you
Excellent source of DVDs when Amazon lets you down or won't deliver to your country... very efficient and reliable.
Always excellent value and delivery and fast delivery best price
Somehow for one of the books I put in my basket the title changed... the picture looked good but I did not dare to order it.
Also, I hope that I won't end up with insane custom costs (the main reason for only ordering ridiculously cheap books).
Good information about the book title and sellers made it easy to order.
It was spoiled by getting a 'Invalid Publisher Code, Offer, or Publisher - Advertiser Partnership Status ' error when searching on www'usedbooksearch.net. This happens repeatedly. It; s very irritating to a customer, and you must be losing a lot of business.
It's my first port of call in looking for books that may be a bit rare, or old, or both, or just quirky...so, it the bookstore I use most often.
I've been giving Alibris 5 starts for years, but not today, because it didn't recognise me!
Fantastic easy experience as long as one remembers to change the default Euro currency for here in the UK is and always has been pounds Sterling. The double exchane charges last time when i didn't realise i had to do this was extortionate.
Straight forward however would like more information on the shipping.
The dealer Blackwell say standard shipping is free but Alibris charge. Would like to know why. If Blackwell ships the book it appears I am paying for postage already covered. More clarification would be helpful if it means through Alibris the delivery time is quicker hence the charge. Apart from that I am pleased with the user friendly site navigation.
