Dont try it it will frustrate you to death and it will make you cry I even used a calculator and it told me I was wrong
I see what ALEKS is trying to do but I hate it. I spend so much time on it that I no longer have time to do anything fun. I hate how it takes points away if you get it wrong. I have anxiety every time I click check. I have to get a certain amount of topics done in a week or else it will affect my grade. I feel like I'm more focused on finishing it rather than learning it... this makes me hate math... I have lost sleep because of this... I have had nightmares... I am depressed. I hate it...: ( Well back to working on ALEKS and its almost midnight...
This site should delete itself from existence. I threw my PC monitor across the room in frustration because of it. My progress always goes back because of the knowledge checks and it's horrible. These virgin mistake workers at ALEKS should consider themselves losers. Also, the explanations for the math problems are vague. I'd actually try to use them to solve the answer and it doesn't work. And that just butters my biscuit! I'd so love to pee on ALEKS grave when it dies. To sum it up, ALEKS is a hot steam garbage piece of doodoo. And by the way the monitor is okay.
Ok lets get this straight... So you get a question wrong and it bumps you back to reset you. So you click the explanation bar (Like any other Human would do.) Then you start getting the hang of the how to do and you continue to practice. So meanwhile you use the advice it gave you from the previous question and you submit the answer, "BUT" wait you got it wrong... How? So you look back into the explanation and this you are supposed to a different way then it was previously (which kind of sucks) I hate when this happens especially to me it really ticks me off. Anyways Aleks is Borderline suicidal...
It sucks I recomend IXL its way more productive and it helps kids learning at my school people got way better grades with ixl than they did with aleks
Hi, my name is Dona, and for me math was very easy I was a strait A student doing Honers Calculus in 9th grade, but when my school began using aleks my homework load was increased ten fold, and my scores slipped to B's and C's. Aleks takes about 3 hours to do 10 topics and you always end up forgetting what you learned. Its much better to invest in better teachers rather than this Junk.
I am an A+ math student! For me, math was pretty easy but when my school recommended Aleks, my math life was a turn.
-Aleks gives NO clear explanation, you're only lucky if you can find a video explaining the topic rather than making you go through it.
-Aleks should only be used to Reteach topics rather than make them learn new ones, I only passed through most of my Aleks because I've either learned it or used a calculator
-Frustrating! Punishing you to do a question all over again and telling you that you have to read the useless bland explanation in order to get it right.
-You won't pass Aleks unless you're a math prodigy, I've never met someone who hasn't used a calculator, get a friend's help, or watch other videos when on this "so called good website."
-Guess what? Once you're done, you have to do a knowledge check, it's basically a review on all the things you've learned, if you forgot something on that once particular question.
You do the damn thing all over again.
Aleks is the single most infuriating experience I have ever had. My appendicitis didn't hurt me as much as trying to navigate this god-awful Human Centipede of a program. Future philosophers will ponder not over the existence of a soul or afterlife, but if Aleks was better at killing children than the Final Solution.
Aleks is like a serial killer that dangles food every now and again into your cell just to pull it out of reach and mock you with a unique mix of venom and genuine hatred for all life.
Every time I log into Aleks, my gut sinks into my genitals like I've just accidentally scrolled past some gore on 4Chan.
I feel like a junkie waiting for that next objective completion so I can get on with my day--yet I know I'll never be truly free. I know what awaits me tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. I know that every time I get a happy graphic congratulating me, I'll be swarmed with wave after wave of condescending regressions. I know that I'll never be truly free of Aleks. The only thing that keeps me from bashing my head into my computer until the only light I see is at the end of a black tunnel is that I know Aleks will be waiting for me with a never-ending knowledge check.
But overall, the site's pretty well-constructed, and it's clear a lot of work went into it. It's very sleek and surprisingly intuitive, and I'm sure that took a lot of care and effort.
4/5
ALEKS is a complete abortion of a program. Every time I have to deal with this horrible mess, I think back on my previous sessions and wonder how much of my limited time here on earth has been spent wasted on this life-draining website.
I would rather watch a man get slowly fed into an industrial wood chipper than use this program. In fact, I would rather BE the man getting fed into an industrial wood chipper than shudder to even think about spending one more second of my miserable, worthless life looking at my ALEKS pie chart. Complicated problems with many steps give you no partial credit. As a result, you will often spend up to an hour or more on a topic trying to finish it, but failing because of small mistakes in calculation like rounding errors. In conclusion, this program has made me deeply consider taking the nearest reasonably sharp writing utensil and jabbing in directly into my jugular. I would highly recommend it to those who are considering suicide but haven't quite built up the courage or motivation to do it yet.
This site is so $#*!ing annoying 1st u have 2 complete topics and they give u hard problems most of the time then they have these explanations which r complete bull$#*! cuz they don't explain it in a very good way then u have all these knowledge checks and if u make a simple mistake u have to repeat the same topic all over again this is y I'm almost failing math class and its impossible to complete the whole thing without cheating I've had a whole semester of this and I have another one and trust me u get so mad because it takes away points and its really annoying to get 5 points since it takes points away one time I even yelled of anger this website teaches u how to get pissed not math I recommend it if u want to piss off ur friend
Whoever hates this website just doesn't care about school in general. If actually try, you will be able to do your ALEKS. Love the website. Was easy to finish 3 credits of HS math in 1 1/2 years!
Take my word, you should avoid ALEKS at all costs. If it's supposed to "teach" you math concepts, it fails so miserably at that it's not even funny. The "explanations" ALEKS gives are total bullish! T. For example, it shows steps, but it forgets to teach you why... you know what, I can't even begin to explain how terrible the explanations are, I don't know what's going on with them. Unless you are a math freak, (AKA the few developers who thought ALEKS was a good idea) it's impossible to complete your ALEKS pie without looking up how to do it online. Also, if you make a simple mistake in your work, you lose one of your "points" to complete the topic. (Most take 5!) No wonder it takes HOURS (yes, hours) to get anything done! Then they put knowledge checks into the mix, which are a waste of your time. And, if you make a mistake, or forget how to do a hard question, whee, you have to do that topic again! Lastly, I've had a few topics that were plain out bullsh! T. I had a topic on the Pythagorean theorem, and it told me to use it on a fvcking OBTUSE TRIANGLE! Impossible! It only works for RIGHT triangles! So please, take my advice, and steer clear for ALEKS. That might just save your life.
This website made me want to kill myself more than I already do, and that is really hard to do. If you are a masochist, feel free to use this website. It is the easiest way to make yourself not want to live, and if you want someone else to die, then you could probably just show this to them and force them to go through maybe 1 or 2 of the assignments there. This website actually does have ebola but does not kno de wey. This makes me want to take a proverbial knife and stab everyone in my class including myself. I want to cuddle my toaster in the bathtub. I want to impale myself with narwhale. I want to chug 10 batteries and play jumprope on an electric wire. I want to create Columbine again after going on this website. PUMPED UP KICKS BETTER RUN BETTER RUN FASTER THEN MY PROVERBIAL KNIFE
Extremely slow, bad way of "teaching" and way too picky with answers. It legitimately sometimes takes over 5 minutes to load a single problem and that is not just my internet as it can load other websites just fine. Assigning this to your students is a terrible idea.
This site is terrible. It will not teach you math, instead you will learn from your mistakes in the most excruciating way possible. When I go to bed I hear voices saying, "Math is good." How can I live knowing this monstrosity is running loose, failing and stressing students around the world? If I hear the word "Aleks", my flashbacks take me back when I had to mourn hours of pain due to my small "mistakes".
Oh, and by the way, you will not learn NOTHING educational from this site.
It is stupid you right the right answer and no apparently its wrong but once you see the answer it is the same thing you put down. I would not recommend this site to anybody.IT SUCKS. Why would they even bother to make it better if it would just get worse.
The technology is bad. Also Its a lie with nothing but boring math. If you miss one question it messes everything up and resets you which is torture. Also its to picky with the answers.
Aleks is a boring math program which is designed to get Aleks his mother $#*!in pay check I dont hate math, I struggle with it though and this aleks made me overthink things. It is a scam dont by it. If I find out the creator of this site I will sue you for pirating Kahn academy.
It lies because it technology and it is the worst thing I have ever experienced. It doesnt let kids get to there full potential. It makes you things you dont learn in till next year and expects you to know how to do it and gives not so helpful videos.
To keep it simple i will forgo the very colorful language i would use to describe this burning wreck of a teaching "tool"
The other reviews make this site out to be hellish... and they are every bit correct...
Their points are every bit valid and I highly reccomend heeding their warnings to steer clear.
But if you want to hear a short story about the hell ive been put through with crap sies/setups, sit back relax, and prepare to cringe.
1 i take trig/precalc (as of 2k17) ON ALEKS... which is like walking into a burning fireworks factory clad in a t shirt and sandals all on its own.
But it gets worse. Combine the hell mentioned above with another hellish and useless website that my school uses... DUN DUN DUUUUUN Edgenuity... its consistently gotten awful reviews as well, and the dev team is just as ignorant and oblivious as before...
Combined with that is the fact that I got a knowledge check TWO FU(&ing days before the SEMESTER FINAL... because apparently it has just as big of a vendetta on me as I have on it...
Honestly its easier to just write down how to solve something then cheat... thats the only way ive even brought myself to a remotely shaky truce with this POS.
So to conclude...!@&* This *($Q^@% &Q$%!(@@*(^!^ Up the@!^ with a rusty crowbar.
Answer: Because the ALEKS program is literal hell and we people are just showing our hatred for it
Answer: Most likely.
Answer: Yes deal with it
Answer: Because people want to commit suicide in an original way, and ALEKS is the best way.
Answer: I don't think so but believe me a class action suit would be an improvement
Answer: I paid over $150 for this sumbi**h, I expect it to work
Answer: No i do not think the website owner has issued one but I think the feelings for aleks would be "down the toilet"
Answer: I realize this reply is very late but in case for anyone who needs it: -Let's say you're learning how to use long division. They have 3 questions in it. You master the first one, then go on to the next one. You get the second one wrong, guess what? They punish you and take back your first answer so now you have to answer it again. -How fun! And don't forget the useless knowledge checks!
