Properties are unsafe and damp/musky.
Airbnb avoid at all cost
Nightmare holiday let
The hollies, palgrave, Diss
Main gate is padlock at all times, no lights so in winter you can't see numbers to open. In a emergency this is extremely dangerous for visiting customers.
No lights on porch again in winter very unsafe.
Property is damp/ musky, even when heat was put on you can't control, sofa was damp to sit on.
There is a toilet under the stairs of which is in the main living area, sofa, kitchen, dining area.
Unacceptable Heath and safety issues
The only washing area is the bath in the bedroom.
Their are two doors leading from main house into the living room and bedroom area of this property and you don't have a key on your side of property to make sure no one enters.
Their are cctv cameras around property but you don't know where they are.
As a female I felt unsafe in this holiday let.
The host was unhelpful and refused a refund after I had booked for 7 nights and informed him I wouldn't be stay not one night. Airbnb unhelpful and don't help.
I have been informed I will get back 127.00 from 596.00.
My holiday has been disrupted and I'm out of pocket, I am left with court action against The host and Airbnb.
Date of experience: 01 November 2022
Now they are keeping all my money and have stopped responding to my questions.
This company needs to be looking into on how they steal from their customers.
Holiday let's have regulations, I don't believe this property The Hollies in Palgrave Diss, uk has any paperwork.
Shame on you Airbnb for advertising this property without proper care/ safety with your customers.
The host refuses to respond to email. Airbnb have closed my case and stolen my money.

Tip for consumers:
Always check companies, complaints, refund, reviews as this will tell you if a company are looking after the consumer.

Only use AirBnB if you are happy to loose money when you can fully document you are being scammed on their platform.

I booked an apartment for about $1,400. I was given a different, dirty apartment. I took photos of it and left. AirBnB found in the hosts favour based on fabricated evidence he provided. I lost everything and they ignored me contacting them several times. They never did give a response to my documentation counter to the host's claims.

AirBnB have notoriously awful support. If you have been scammed on their platform they will leave you high and dry. You can get your money back if you want to keep phoning them up for a month. They will finally cave in. Most of their staff don't know what they are doing, have no authority and will leave you going round and round in circles.

What's worse I found the host had previously been banned from AirBnB. I told them and they ignored it. Their new account had one review. I have spent $20,000 with them and have over 35 review.

Will never use them again and will tell everyone I encounter for the rest of my life not to use them.

A host cancelled on me 3 days before check-in, Airbnb informed me by email, refunded me, and gave me a coupon of like 35% of the refund too.
In the email, they provided me with alternative bookings that are not suitable and are on the other side of the city.
At this time any suitable bookings became more than double the old price and the coupon was never enough to cover the new price difference.
I had to make my new booking and pay the difference. Airbnb ignored any communications after their initial email, while I asked for support to find a proper place and for a bigger coupon to cover the difference, they completely ignored me.

From now on I will stick to hotels whenever it is possible, and you should do so

Tip for consumers:
if afraid of cancellations, use hotels and avoid airbnb

Firstly, unlike a hotel, Airbnb has no control over the quality of the accommodation or the behavior of the hosts. If a host is responsive and responsible, then great. If not, then you're only option is to cancel. If you choose to cancel, you're subjected to a sometimes unfair cancellation policy. Also, Airbnb isn't very upfront about their fees being non-refundable. As for Airbnb as a company, it is sub-par. They intentionally make it difficult to contact them. They do not post a phone number or email address under their contact information on their website; they simply direct you to their FAQs. You have to search for there contact information online. When canceling a reservation, the website is not upfront about how much of a refund you will receive and it does not show up under your account. They do send a confirmation email fairy promptly. I used them twice and tried to use them a third time, but decided to go to a regular hotel instead after the host was unresponsive to my queries after I made payment. It didn't cost much more to book at a hotel and I have the luxury of being able to talk to somebody if there is a problem. If you're on a really tight budget and can find a good deal on Airbnb, then I would say go ahead. If it's a matter of saving a few dollars, go with a hotel.
