Agoda has a rating of 2.3 stars from 4,434 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Agoda most frequently mention customer service, credit card and hotel room. Agoda ranks 24th among Hotels sites.
The only reason they get 1 star is because the price was the best out of all other travel sites. Their customer service is garbage, if you can get a hold of someone, and then they do not follow through on what they tell you. I will never book through this company again regardless of price!
Made a reservation for the wrong date when I went online to try to fix the date I was not able to do it so I cancelled and rebooked on the correct date now I want to see how I can go about getting a refund but there is no way to get in touch with them I have called Best Western corporate office to see if anything can be done and they told me to get in touch with Agoda which of course is impossible
Unfair exchange rates -- I booked a hotel in Europe -- the Euro hardly changed in value, but Agoda wanted $60 more when the time came to pay and wouldn't allow me to pay in Euros. So I booked directly with hotel. I will not be using Agoda again.
We just happened to use this website to book our hotel and payed extra for a view of the canal in Venice. When we arrived at the hotel, the view was obstructed by construction. The hotel apologized and told us the money would be refunded but we had to get it through the agoda website. The hotel has refunded the money to agoda (the difference we payed for a room with a view and a room without a view) but agoda is not refunding our money. They are offering a gift card to use in the next 3 months on their website! They want to keep our money and will not stand behind the product they are selling, even after the hotel refunds the money. Just use a different hotel website, you will be glad to avoid dealing with this company.
Put in the wrong date when in an hour tried to put in the right date would not let me waste of money would never use them again! Will spend the rest of my life stopping people from using them the suck!
I booked a hotel in Paris through Agoda. Their site had a room available at a specific rate with either a queen or 2 single beds. I added a note that we needed 2 single beds. The hotel only had queen size beds available at that rate and showed me the email reservation from Agoda. My request for 2 beds was not on what they received but it was on the confirmation I had from Agoda. We had to pay an upcharge of $120, almost 50% extra, to get a room with 2 beds. I will not use Agoda again.
Agoda is the partner behind fares listed as "TripAdvisor" on the TripAdvisor site. I made the mistake of booking with them.
They deceptively list their cancellation policy as, for example "cancel 3 days in advance to avoid penalty", and do not tell you how the days are calculated, nor give you a specific date. It's pretty clear from calling their "customer service" that the policy is intentionally stated to be vague. If you are booking for check-in on a Thursday, their policy doesn't mean you can cancel on Monday (3 days in advance). It means you must cancel on Sunday (4 days in advance). It's pretty clear from my interaction with their call center representative that people are misled all the time, and they are very accustomed to saying "no" when asked to waive the cancelation fee.
There are plenty of reputable sites (booking.com, for example, which I have used frequently in the past). Do NOT use Agoda.
DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE. I booked our honeymoon trip for me and my fiancee for January SEVEN MONTHS before our arrival date. A couple of weeks later we learned she is pregnant and therefore will be unable to fly at 8 months pregnant. After spending thirty minutes on hold multiple times and speaking to numerous representatives about issuing a refund I was told I would not be getting it. Please please please book directly with the hotel as they are normally very cooperative and understanding unlike this middle man con artist. They have scammed me out $1400 dollars never again will I go with them or any other website. I will be filing a dispute with my bank hoping they will investigate them.
You are a RIP OFF company that are connected to HotelPower.com. I dont know who you are and how you are the company to charge my cc for something Ive attempted to cancel 20x already. Nowhere on the reservation does it say "NO REFUND".
I have been an avid member of agoda as it was a fuss-free experience for me to use the site. By being loyal to them, I would get credits into my account automatically for every booking I did.
I believe I have redeemed and accumulated over 1000 USD worth of dollars over the past 9 years.
They have recently changed to a new "gift card" system which right at the bottom right of the screen of your booking, you need to tick "I would like to receive $xx. Xx amount 7 days after checking out."
That is if not the most stupidest thing I have ever seen as the ONLY point of sticking with a site is because of the loyalty/credit points. If not, why should we stick with Agoda? Why not just use any online website which can offer a better rate?
We use it because it gives us benefits in return. That is the main core reason, the other websites are all on a similar level right now and I do not honestly see too much of a difference.
I did a booking for 2 weeks and forgotten to click on that tiny box at the bottom right of the screen, and now the points that used to automatically go into my account are all gone. Agoda are now offering a "good-will gesture" as I am a loyal member.
Well, they can take that "good-will gesture" and shove it cause I would rather join a site which automatically credits because it is a complete waste of time and senseless move.
We just arrived at the hotel booked on the agoda. We booked the holidays in November of the previous year in Thailand Puket Orchd Resort & Spa. On the agoda website there are outdated photos of the hotel - in fact it is a burial dump from the Polish People's Republic - dirty, smelly and veeery old. The hotel was built probably in the 70's in the neighborhood of forbidden and flying out barracks. View of the garden with a width of 3 m, followed by dingy mud huts. The fear was to stay in the room overnight. Dirty bathroom, sticky furniture, dirty sheets and towels. Everything is barely holding up. The service was surprised that on the agency it has 4 stars because in reality it is only three, although I would give only two. The hotel was only an hour, during which we were shown three other rooms - all in the same poor standard. We forced the service to resign from the booking, but they have already downloaded 20% of the total booking for two weeks. Żenada! We found a hotel at a decent level nearby where I do not stick to the door handles and toilets. I will replace that with an agoda as a gift card we got a voucher for $ 10 (!) And we do not know what the amount of money we will do. We go with my husband a lot - Europe, Asia, South America, Australia. However, the first time we went with agoda - DISASTER! I do not wish such adventures the worst enemy.
I will not use agoda again. Everything was booked, paid for a great until I came to check out and the hotel told me I hadn't paid, therefore having to use my spending money to pay for hotel. I am now in the midst of trying to get this payment back.
The customer service phone line keep you on hold and then cut you off after 10 minutes. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
I did hotel booking through Agoda, 2 rooms for 1 night. After a week, I got a call from hotel that booking is not confirmed, as there is no room available. Tried to contact Agoda on customer care number. Pathetic! Only IVR, no one came online. Was on-call for 30+ minutes 2-3 times, no response! DO NOT TRUST IT!
You ruined my vacation.
Agoda has cancelled my booking twice now for no reasons. Their customer service is also incompetent and non existent. They would give me bull$#*! reason mentioning credit card this and that. I'd say they are not letting bookings go thru if the rooms were sold at a higher price.
I do not trust Agoda at all. Their databases and their website are not up to date. My husband and I wanted to book a hotel for our family and we were excited to find just what we were looking for on the Agoda site ONLY TO LATER FIND OUT THE ROOM WAS UNAVAILABLE AND OUR FUNDS WERE BEING HELD BY OUR BANK IN LIMBO BECAUSE AGODA "PROCESSES THE FUNDS". Do NOT trust what you see on this website. I am so displeased with them. I then called and spoke to a rep after being on hold for 16 minutes listening to elevator music and the only thing she said she could do for me was to dispute the bank claim, to which I replied--- Your job is to find us rooms and be honest on your website ----she had no reply! They need to fix their website. Also, she didn't apologize until halfway through the call. 1 HOUR and 8 minutes later of talking with her and there was still no room and Agoda was holding my funds. If the room says that it is available---DON'T TRUST IT! Their site is completely unreliable, they will also hold your funds and not tell you about it until it's too late.
Will try to keep it short as I never leave reviews but agoda has taken the cake this time and I wanted to share: Agoda customer service is pathetic/incompetent. They do not understand a basic question/issue at hand. I had booked a hotel through agoda, asked for a price match guarantee as Booking.com had the same thing for cheaper (only wanted to use a gift voucher hence booking on agoda else booking.com is a million times better!) Agoda responds saying 'we are delighted to price match and xx amount has been removed off your booking'. It is STILL not as cheap as booking.com and this is when the issues start. You have to hold for an average of 20-30 mins to get through to an agent/email responses take about 2-3 days and each time a new person responds so you have to repeat the issue again and again. After calling them 4 times and having a dozen email responses - issue still not solved. They don't understand basic concept of exchange rates or base rate. They book in USD, hotel charges in local currency and they are charging me in GBP because I am based in UK. So when I tell them 10 times base rate is the hotel currency because that is what it mentions on my booking and that needs to be matched to booking.com rate - they say okay and again give me a different rate (higher). Since it is a book now, pay later option it is provided on the day of payment. BUt that doesn't give me the solution that the BASE RATE needs to be the same if you are advertising as price match. Another smart alec yesterday tells me - okay we will price match (and I also had a gift voucher of about $25 USD but the price is same with or without the gift voucher - how that is possible only she will know! That makes my voucher worthless! According to her, price match is after the gift voucher was used. So I tell her if I didn't use the voucher what is the price - she said the same? Ready to tear my hair out because they are so so incompetent. It has been about 3 weeks since booking and still not sorted. Will probvably cancel the booking.
TL; DR: The low prices are NOT worth the headache of Agoda's broken system and useless customer service.
I booked a hotel on Agoda because of the excellent price. A few days before I left for the trip, the hotel notified me that they tried to take a preauthorization of my card, but it wasn't going through.
I was on the phone back and forth 6 times (no exaggeration) with Agoda customer service and my bank. Agoda said that my card was not authorized for payments. My bank said that no preauthorization was even attempted, all international transactions were turned on, and funds were sufficient.
In the end, I had to make a long-distance international call to the hotel in order to give them my credit card information. Everything was fine with my card - it was Agoda's system that was failing. Agoda was absolutely no help. Do yourself a favor and avoid Agoda!
Booked a hotel based on 2 adults and 2 children as a search query. On arrival we had 1 double bed. I guess kids were supposed to sleep with us or on the floor. I became evident that Hotel had contacted Agoda, but Agoda confirmed it was fine. Booking clearly stated number of persons. Had to pay for the additional bed and wrote a complaint to Agoda. Besides initial confirmation, never received a reply. AVOID AGODA. Book directly with Booking, Tripadvisor or even better, with the the Hotel directly.
Agoda sends FAKE Low Prices on referral sites, like Kayak, to trick you into clicking onto their site. Then has much higher, non-competitive pricing on their site. This is not a company you want to trust with your travel plans or credit card info. DO NOT USE.
Booked accommodation with Special Offer through a Secondary Site, which Agoda picked up the booking request. Check with Hotel before booking flights to verify booking, and they had not received any information regarding a Special Booking. Provided Screenshots to Agoda, who then passed onto Hotel, and later came back to say the Secondary Site didn't have the promotion. Obviously not willing to pick up the tab for the extras, even though they were willing to take the booking. Very Poor, very poor.
Answer: I didn't know that? I have had the best deals from them and I find them very helpful.
Answer: I don't bother making lists just search for where I am going and select the best deal for at least 1 mth before its needed and keep track of prices
Answer: You maybtry the resort website http://thecliffresort.com.vn and check the payment method. I got a better rate thru agoda, so did not contact the resort directly. The photos in agoda and resort web truly reflect the rooms and facility. http://thecliffresort.com.vn
Answer: For me as well very bad experience with this site. The administrator failed to confirm my booking in the evening, claiming they could not see it in their system and stating that the reserved room was unavailable, despite all the correct booking information being provided. Instead, they offered me a different room. At 10 PM on December 31st, traveling with a child, I had no choice but to agree and pay again for the alternative room. I immediately reported the issue to Agoda for assistance. The room we were given was in an unacceptable condition: it was dirty, there were holes in the bathroom walls, and mold was visible. It was nowhere near the standard described in the booking. The following morning, a different administrator located my original booking and refunded the payment for the additional room. However, they falsely claimed that I had stayed in the room I originally booked. This is not true—the room I stayed in differed significantly from the description and photos provided at the time of booking. Despite providing all necessary evidence, Agoda has refused to support my complaint, stating that the hotel confirmed my booking, which does not address the poor service, the forced additional payment, or the unacceptable condition of the room. This experience demonstrates an appalling lack of customer care from both the hotel and Agoda. As a customer, I feel my rights were ignored, and no proper resolution was provided. I expect Agoda to take accountability and address this issue properly, as this level of service is completely unacceptable.
Answer: Well, you probably need to call the customer service online or send them email from Agoda to get a reply. I feel that it was in vain to look for any help or compensation once your reservation has been done. Even the you overlooked some tricky information, Agoda will completely ignore what you said and push the blame to the hotel/property or the users. That is how I feel after trying so sort our the issue. Once a mistake is made, we probably can only eat it. Never expect they will admit any misinformation on line.
