If you're lucky enough to find a dog still available, I advise you contact the shelter directly. I've been trying to adopt a dog for over 8 months and this site has done nothing to help. They once wanted to have a phone interview 3 weeks after I applied for a dog, which was clearly gone in days. Also, idk how updated their posts on new dogs are because I have constant notifications of dogs and inquire within 10 minutes (because yes, I refresh and check contantly), then will be told they're already gone through the site or contact the shelter and get advised the pup has already been adopted. This has been the most frustrating experience that consistently ends in heartbreak.
A really intrusive, pushy, rude, odious and really distur ing curiosity about people. They actually want to see your home! Really? That is just creepy. We ARE talking about cats and dogs, right or did I miss something and really this is about child protective services? I would like to know who the person is who wants my personal Information! They want to grill your vet about you! These are small, controlling people with a small amount of power. Sad for the animals though. I was all ready adopt a senior cat who lost his owner and has been in foster care for a YEAR but nooooo, have to jump through hoops plus They want up to $150.00 from you. Go elsewhere.
They judge if a family member leaves the home and takes a pet with them saying you gave your pet away. They discriminate saying they won't adopt to you because of that. Also if one of your pets passed away which does happen, they don't live forever, this organization won't adopt to you. They're rude about it with a snotty attitude.
I used adopt a pet because I wasn't sure how to even look for a new kitten. So I googled where to adopt a pet and this site popped up. 5 days later I bought my gorgeous cupcake. And then months later I used it YET AGAIN! I adopted my sweet cannoli :) now im planning on definitely looking for my third on there. I love my 2 kitty's so much. They are so well behaved they're sweet. Not a mean bone in their body!
I would absolutely not trust anything on this website my mother was scammed. She was highly excited to purchase a golden retriever from her user on the site and was out over $850. The major red flag was the additional fees regarding the crate. Once you figure it out that it was a scam the user has not answered any phone calls emails or texts sense. I would not trust any of it and it should be deleted
I found a kitten on Perfect Angels Cat Rescue (https://www.petfinder.com/member/us/nj/turnersville/purrfect-angels-cat-rescue-nj757/) and was advised my application was not able to be approved because they were unable to find consistent vet care with my current and prior owned pets. Perfect Angels was advised my vet who has cared for my pets through the years would be willing to give a positive recommendation. In an e-mail received from Perfect Angels advised "We wish you the best of luck in finding the pet that is right for you. Please check with your local animal shelter, where many adorable animals are waiting for homes. Their adoption requirements may be different from ours". I thought petfinder's mission was to find forever homes for homeless pets and I understand the need to find save loving homes, but if a recommendation from a family vet is not enough for Perfect Angels/petfinder what is?
I did the $10 a month donation to receive more emails about a dog I would like to adopt. I got less emails and every time I did get an email I would put in immediately for the dog only to be told to fill out another adoption form which I did and sent it in only to be told then that the dog had already been adopted. Then I tried to go on and cancel the 10.00 a month but there is no place to cancel on the website. There is a phone number but it only tell you what emails addresses to send to based upon what you are trying to do. The email bounced back. I had to call my credit card company and they had to actually cancel my card (BOA) because they could not cancel the recurring donation. This place is a scam!
Help Rescue in AR is a great rescue! I adopted my 3 month old chihuahua mix from them (and they were transported to CT). I was very skeptical at first because I couldn't find too much detail about them when I googled the group and I wasn't sure about the validity of Adopt-a-Pet. Tonya, the president of the rescue, addressed my concerns and provided me with their veterinarian phone number, paperwork, and videos of the puppy I was adopting. Their website is currently outdated but it is in fact legit- they understandably spend their time rescuing rather than creating a fancy website. Communication was excellent throughout the entire process and I'm happy I adopted from them!
Nothing but people trying to scam you to get your info and promising you a dog then telling you its not available. That's if you are even lucky enough to get a text or call back. This is the most shady website ever. Don't waist your time. Don't give your info and Definately don't give any money!
Its tough on people who live in states like Massachusetts who have strict dog rules. Dogs are not available in shelters unless you want a pitbull mix. These people make you pay money when you put in an application for a dog and turn you down for ridiculous stuff. I was turned down for a dog because I did not have another big dog in home. There are a lot more ways to socialize a dog then to have another in the home. Wish I had seen the reviews here before even applying. Definitely seems like a scam. $15 a person adds up! If I thought it was helping dogs get rescued I wouldn't be so angry, but I bet its lining someones pocket instead.
1. They do not get adoption inquiries and when you bring this to their attention they are dismissive and blame something on your end that is not true.
2. They are dismissive in general. They hold an attitude that they are always in the right.
3. Very difficult to manage and maneuver.
4. Takes a long time to load.
CNH rescue adoption was a pleasant experience. They were very friendly and professional. They allowed my daughter and I to spend time with Oreo without pressuring us. They explained everything and answered all of my questions. I would highly recommend their services. They are Great people to work with. Thanks CNH for a pleasant experience
The only reason I gave them one star is because I could not give negative 10 stars. They show you pictures of great dogs, you fill out an application, no one ever contacts you to meet the dog; but then you get an Email asking for payment. Many people would go ahead and pay. I contacted the company--after 4 days and multiple Emails and phone attempts, I FINALLY got a reply. They said the owner of the dog that was looking for a new home for him had "made a mistake" by not contacting me, and the '"customer service" person copied the dog's "owner" on the Email to alert them to contact me. They did not, so I contacted them. They said someone already took the dog. I see this scam repeated often on this site, except for one thing, I refused to pay sight unseen. THIS SITE IS A SCAM! Go to a shelter so you don't get scammed!
I signed up to be notified of adoptable pets. Funny thing is, even if I check my email the second one of their notifications arrives, I get a message that the pet is already gone, along with an enticement to pay for their premium service. They seem like scam artists. They are a subsidiary of Mars, Inc. a multinational pet food company that manufactures Whiskas, Iams, many brands, and also owns Banfield. Their petcare website is full of self-congratulatory rhetoric. Typical bloodless corporation.
I applied for a dog and after a couple of weeks I was turned down because my yard wasn't fenced in. Well why do you need a fenced in yard for a three pound chihuahua? It's a house dog. A lap dog. I wouldn't feel safe with a dog that small running around outside. They stated the dog would be more comfortable in a fenced in yard. Did the dog tell them this? I explained that I leash walk my dogs three times a day and take them to the park for exercise. They offered me other dogs. They don't need a fenced in yard? I'm wondering if they still had the dog and it was just a come on. They are a joke.
After showing interest in a kitten and filling out the paperwork I was told my application was still being looked at. I was told the kitten I was hoping to meet suffered an eye injury. In the meantime I got another kitten as it was my intent to have 2 I asked Jodie Mangeri the status of the kitten more than once if only to learn how she was. I got zero response.
These poor pets either do not exist, will be of a different age if you ever actually do get the pet you want or they'll be euthanized because they aren't placed in a forever home! Easier to just purchase a pet you want. This process is ridiculous and invasive! Some of the auto responses of some of these shelters are just rude.
I got to notifications on 2 different dogs I wrote to them on both occasion saying I was intersted in both dogs and both times got no response. This website is based on false hope not just for us but for the animals as well
I have applied for an animal on here. The NEVER go through. Somehow they are a scam! Someway they are getting money for posting these beautiful creatures. They must get your money before you pick up. I would have the PERECT life for a dog I would adopt. Someway the way the word it debit and credit card payment only. Then you can see the dog or pick it up. Sounds sketchy. They keep the dog picture up on their sight for a long time. They can only scam so much for one dog. I am blocking!
AAP SITE IS A HORRIBLE JOKE.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO OVER-SITE BY OWNERS TO INSURE THE DOGS BE LISTED ON SITE ARE NOT PUPPY MILL DOGS OR FROM BACK YARD BREEDERS, OR WORSE.
NO ONE CHECKS TO SEE IF ANY OF THESE ANIMALS ARE FROM RESCUES OR OWNERS LOOKING TO REHOME A PET?
ITS UNFORTUNATELY JUST ANOTHER AVENUE FOR FACELESS NAMELESS PEOPLE TO SELL ANIMALS TO LINE THEIR POCKETS- AND THE OWNERS OF THIS SITE COULDN'T CARE LESS.
MORE SHAMEFUL SICKENING DISREGARD FOR INNOCENT DEFENSELESS ANIMALS!
PLEASE DO NOT GET ANIMALS ANYWHERE ONLINE - this site craigslist pet afs pey stores bogus rescues etc
Answer: ADOPT A PET.COM IS A TOTAL SCAM TO GET YOUR MONEY, THEY HAVE WAYS OF GETTING YOUR MONEY. APPLY FOR A PREMIUM SERVICE FOR $ 10.00... AND A NEW ONE... THEY SAY... FOR US TO LOOK AT YOUR PET APPLICATION IT WILL COST YOU $ 10.00 AND IT GOES ON TO SAY. THIS DOESNT MEAN YOU WILL ADOPT A DOG. JUST FOR THEM TO ACCEPT YOUR APPLICATION... I SUGGEST EVERYONE WANTING TO ADOPT TO CALL. PURINA THEIR SPONSOR AND ISSUE YOUR COMPLAINT { I did}... TOGETHER WE COULD ERASE THESE PEOPLE FROM ADVERTISING ANYMORE!
Answer: I've noticed that some shelters are listing some animals for rehoming purposes. Some shelters don't respond back. When an animal is rehomed, we are supposed to close the link for the newly adopted pet. Sometimes people don't go back and close the links.
Answer: Yes, I would use adoptapet.com and make YouTube videos so you can send the video links. Email first, ask questions and call to set up a meeting in a very public place. I foster kittens and socialize them and use this site to avoid taking kittens to animal shelters.
