Find another carrier
February 2, 2024

I had three pallets of freight, all well organized, shrink wrapped and banded.
All three pallets had been dropped, and one, containing metal file cabinets, had obviously had extremely heavy objects dropped on top of it, causing dents so deep in the top that it is now impossible to open. The contents will now have to be removed by using a grinder to cut the tops of the file cabinets off. One item was also missing from that pallet.
There was a report of transit damage to an intermediate freight center, but I was not informed until I called and asked. I never saw the report.
The response from ABF, after my sending damning photo documentation, was a query about the estimated weight of the damaged objects.
I received a check for $20.00.

Never Again
December 21, 2021

My supplier previously used a different company to deliver my products. Then, the last two shipments, they have used ABF Freight. This has added at least 4 days to my deliveries and has caused serious issues with my business. I'm going to let my supplier know that any future shipments from ABF Freight will be denied and if I have to, I will change to a new supplier.

Bungled Shipment
February 9, 2021

Unbelievable, purchased a 280lb treadmill from Sole Fitness. Called ARC after 2 weeks of waiting. Claimed they would look look it. Still waiting. This is a lousy third rate company. Don't dare use it.

A month ago WE HAD TO send one item via ABF. It was first and last time we ever used their service! Their quote was the most expensive, but they said that the shipping will take 5 days to Georgia. Dallas... Turned out to 25 days! Moreover, they kept adding other fees on the way. Also, they lost the freight in San Fernando. Ca. Facility, and it took 1 week to find it. Finally, when they did deliver the item, it was cracked in the middle. They are refusing to return our money, blaming our packaging. However, their driver took the photo and sent/approved it with his dispatch. Before picking it up, therefore packaging was fine. LOL. But when they broke it, they say we did not pack it properly... Finally, I have no words to describe their customer service... I can not add the proof of purchase, anyway I would love to discuss that with their manager (if they have one.) HIGHLY UNRECOMEND THIS COMAPANY!

In no hurry...
February 6, 2023

My shipment from MS left on a Tuesday, was stuck in Calgary for 36 hours then arrived in Charlotte NC (the destination) on Thursday evening. Friday, Saturday, Sunday... nothing.
Delivery scheduled for Monday between 7A and midnight. Obviously the consideration for the customer needs are not a priority.
In the mean time, stuck at home... Grrrrrrr...

Shipment
July 15, 2020

ABF picked up my package and they lost it. I'm out $326.00 because of them. They scanned the package when they picked it up but that was it. There was no way to track where it was. I hope I never have to use them again

I was waiting an extra day for a delivery of a 500 lb machine and was begging to get a bit cranky about it but I have to say that all went away when the driver showed up and went the extra mile (or two) to help get his truck in postion to off load the machine without the need to dolly it down a long gravel driveway. Left to myself I do not think I could have handled it. Thanks so much for the GREAT service and driver!

WORST.
January 27, 2023

They failed to deliver 3 times in the course of 1 week. Because of their inability to deliver three times just 7 MILES AWAY, they handed the package to a 3rd party to deliver FROM ANOTHER STATE 20+ miles away. Massive incompetence. And their customer service is apathetic at best and rude at worst... was told that their delivery windows (which they obviously failed spectacularly to hit) were merely "courtesy windows" that they were under no obligation to meet. Was put on endless hold loops, passed from department to department, and even hung up on. If you don't ever want to see your items and throw away your money, by all means use this company... but because they're rude and horrible at their jobs, I still would advise against using ABF Freight in Brooklyn NY.

AVOID THIS FREIGHT COMPANY
May 26, 2022

Our shipment is hold in their warehouse for a week already. They keep promising to deliver it "tomorrow". They're still talking and keep re-scheduling. PLEASE CHOOSE ANY OTHER FREIGHT COMPANY BUT NOT ABF.

This is a review of ABF Freight, a company that picks up and delivers various items having shipped them by truck. I purchased a pole vault pole and the seller decided to use this company. The route from seller to me was around a thousand miles. By the time it arrived, the heavy cardboard container was torn in two, had numerous tire marks, probably from a fork lift, and the pole inside was crushed in several places. To do this much damage was a great achievement, considering how strong the box and pole itself were. The damage was a testament to the total carelessness of the employees of this company. Don't let this company ship anything! My shipper on this end said that literally half the stuff they get for final delivery from this company has been damaged beyond belief. I wonder how they stay in business...

A Total Nightmare!
July 18, 2017

I contracted with UPack/ABF to move my home and was assured their drivers were experienced, insured and bonded
My entire 25 foot load of antique furniture, pottery and household belongings was totally destroyed
One of the many drivers who transported my items was clearly in an accident
That is the only way such extensive damage could have occurred
I provided ABF with 50+ photos and even met with a third party adjuster so that they could view the carnage for themselves
Once ABF saw the extent of my damage they flatly refused to honor their contract that states. 10 per pound in liability
This is the most unprofessional and unethical company I've ever had the misfortune of doing business with
Do NOT do any busness with this organization... you will regret it!

Do NOT Trust ABF
October 15, 2020

Do not trust ABF with anything large or valuable, they will break it and put all the blame on you:

Having paid $1800 to move 3 large gyrotonic and pilates equipment (worth avg $7500 each) from NYC to Albuquerque, I expected more from ABF. They broke the legs of a machine that is no longer in production, made multiple scratches on the wood, torn and punctured upholstery, and they denied all responsibility and claim. They also gave me the wrong information on pick up window times(via phone). They told me an hour window time frame is necessary, however it is actually a 4 hour window which i had to find out on the day of pick up! That wasted 3.5 extra hours of my professional mover's time in NYC as ABF would only pickup from curbside. Yes, the driver was late in addition to the extra 3 hours that i was not aware of. My mover in NYC packed and loaded the machines to ABF lift gate. He made sure it left in mint condition. But this is what i received in Albuquerque (see photos). I should have trusted their poor reviews online.

Trash

They damaged everything we owned after we spent over $5000 in moving expenses, and I do mean everything. They want to settle at $50 which they increased to $500. I guess I'll see them in court.

HORRENDOUS company
November 24, 2022

They destroyed my custom piece worth over 10k. Suing them locally, then Class Action. Hold this company accountable, Consumers. You have rights under US Law.
-------
DISPOSITION OF DAMAGED SHIPMENTS - 3867
(Revised: 02/1993)
Carriers are almost always responsible for transit loss or damage. However, consignees have a legal responsibility for keeping damage costs at a minimum and must accept damaged freight that can be reasonably repaired. If the goods are damaged so much that they become almost worthless, you may refuse the delivery. In that case be sure to file a claim for the full value of the shipment.

Some items can only be repaired by the factory where they were made. If repair costs are more than $100 and more than one company can make the repairs, try to get competitive bids.

Carriers who pay the full invoice price for claims on goods that are damaged beyond reasonable repair are, in effect, purchasing the damaged goods. The carrier will usually want the damaged goods as salvage. Therefore, you must hold the damaged goods and make them available for the carrier to pick up.

Damaged beyond repair
August 24, 2022

Words cannot describe my utter frustration and disappointment with ABF Freight. They were hired to transport two garage doors from Colorado to Ohio. One of the garage door panels was severely damaged (metal buckled/bent; metal backside was punctured). Per the shipping instructions, the garage door panels were to be shipped on their sides and not stacked (per manufacturer). When the panels arrived via ABF, the delivery driver opened the back of the semi-trailer and we saw that the panels were laying flat and were stacked on top of each other. Since the panels were individually wrapped in cardboard, the damage was not clearly evident at the time of unloading. However, upon the removal of the cardboard, the CHI certified installer immediately noticed the damaged panel. To create the amount of damage inflicted, the garage door panel had to have been dropped, dragged, or shipped improperly. Since the damaged garage door panel is part of the CHI Shoreline series with carriage overlay, they won't just replace the damaged panel. They are saying that all three of the bottom panels must be replaced in order to ensure that the grain and the overlay matches up. Now I have to waste my time writing this review and filing an insurance claim. A few months later... the insurance agency declared the garage door as a total loss and is reimbursing me everything but the $500 deductible. While ABF did reach out to me on the matter, they basically did nothing to rectify this matter (lost $500 because of them). In conclusion, based upon my shipping experience with ABF, I strongly recommend avoiding ABF Freight as they don't follow shipping instructions which resulted in damaged/ destroyed goods. Note: I tried uploading the pictures but the website didn't allow it for some unknown reason.

We placed an order online and the company picked ABF to handle shipping.

The guy arrived in his truck and as my husband and I walked over he didn't even bother to turn it off to hear what we were saying to him ( yelling over a truck engine while wearing a mask and being on a busy road makes it laughably hard to hear anything) on top of that he parked his truck a block away from our building.
We walked over to our building as he drove. Once he stopped the truck it took the driver 6-8 min to exist his truck as we waited for him by the back. Mind you it was 98 degrees that day so for us to have to wait for this guy to leisurely exist his truck was annoying to say the least.

When he got into the back he had no idea what he was looking for... a few minutes later he states that our box is all the way in the back ( not sure how that's our issue) but then because he didn't know how to handle this delivery he asks my husband to come up and help him!

So this delivery guy is wearing protective thick clothing/boots and thick rubber gloves and he's asking for help from someone who isn't... Of course my husband went up the truck to help but considering what a mess the inside of the truck was and the overall situation it was clearly unsafe. With my husbands help they moved the box towards the front and my husband lowered our heavy box onto our personal cart right off the truck. Why the delivery guy didn't lower it off the truck himself I have no idea.

The truck guy also asked to keep the large outer cardboard box from our package for some reason.

But the kicker was that this guy expected a TIP!

This was one of the worst freight delivery experiences I have witnessed. I cant image how all of this would have went down if my husband wasn't there to help and I was alone?

Why hire people who don't know how to handle a medium size delivery?
If you have a choice in the matter, don't work with this company - they are a nightmare.
