Horrible!
June 26, 2019

Ordered Progressive glasses on May 28. As I never received an update on the progress of the order I tried to call customer service on June 11. The phone was ringing for 1 hour and 10 minutes and nobody was answering (during their office hours!). At the end I got a recording that they cannot answer the phone and I should leave a message. I left a message and they never returned my call. Next day I called again the phone was answered within 15 minutes. The rep told me that my glasses will ship the next day and I will receive a confirmation email. Having not received the confirmation email the next day I called again the following day and was told that my glasses failed quality control and they have to start from the beginning... No apology whatsoever! I canceled my order this day, June 13, and received an email that my refund will be processed within 3-5 business days. 9 business days later I still do not have my refund. Sent a email today asking where is my refund and the answer came right away: "it appears that the order was canceled but I do not see a refund issued. I've issued your refund in the amount of $197.46 and we ask that you please allow 3-5 business days for it to credit to your account".
Unbelievably sloppy! I can't even give 1 star to this mess but rating is required...

Sent my Nike metal frames for re-lensing, progressive on-line, 1.75 prescription. Nothing unreasonable, I've had 3 week service on new glasses several times at GlassesUSA, but they don't do this service. The order tracking is virtually useless, as the status never changed from " at the lab." After 2 weeks, I emailed for some specifics on my order, and was told that quality control had rejected them... twice! Not to worry, though, was told they should go out in a few days. When three more weeks passed (and no change in the order status language), I requested a refund and return of my sunglasses, which has occurred. I have placed an order for the same cost with another company, and will hope for better communication and completion time. I don't think it could possibly be worse.

As most of the reviews seem to go on here I'm another unsatisfied customer. This is the 7th business day for me, and from what the website says 95% of people are shipped their glasses within 2-7 business days. Since I have no glasses to review, this 1 star is simply for the customer service aspect of the company. My first encounter was on the 5th business day where I waited over 20 mins to get a response from their online chat. I received no response from that, so I called up the direct line. The lady on the other end was pleasant to talk to although she could tell me nothing more than they are being assembled. The 7th business day arrives and now I decided to skip the chat and go straight to the phone. The lady is once again nice to talk with although I'm disappointed to find out that one pair of my glasses are good to go, and the second pair are awaiting final inspection. I asked if they could split up my packages perhaps, since my 2nd pair of frames might not be ready today, the 7th business day. The lady on the phone said there would be an additional charge for that... I paid for next day air, and I still won't be receiving my glasses until possibly 9 to 10 business days out. Hopefully, the glasses will be in good shape despite what some users of this site have experienced. It's all about how you treat the customer no matter how inexpensive the glasses may be. It's too bad the company didn't want to try to get my glasses out to me as quickly as they could, even if that meant them having to eat the price of delivery on the second pair of glasses. I guess my business and the business of people I know aren't that important to them.

Ok for re-lensing.
February 7, 2018

I've had two pairs of new Paul Smith frames lensed at 39dollarglasses for single vision full time wear. First pair 1.67 index super thin lenses ($89) on acetate full frame and second pair 1.59 index thin lenses ($64) on acetate half frame.

Both glasses are fine and the quality of lenses is good, although the edges of the lenses on the half frame were unpolished. It took a week from the time my frames were shipped to them to beginning re-lensing. There was no information as to what caused the delay when I called. All in all I'd use them again.

Disappointed!
October 27, 2017

I'm buying glasses for $ 218, after six weeks they break up, I called, I was told to send my glasses back so I did, They sent me the frames only, I wait and wait five weeks and nothing. I called costumer services man said they never received my glasses back, and then I called for two months and nothing, No one helped me ignore it, They lost my glasses and I lost my money. They were guaranteed. I'm disappointed with this attitude costumer services. I do not recommend this company

I sent my new Oakley aluminum frames in for re-lensing. Several weeks transpired and after multiple attempts to contact the site, all being unanswered I received an email apologizing an that my frames would be sent next day air the following day. Three days later, they sent me a message telling me that they stripped my frame screw and that they would be happy to replace my $250 dollar frames with cheap plastic frames of my choice from China. My first comment was asking why could they simply re-tap the hole as these frames are very sturdy forged aluminum, think aluminum wayfarers. They completely ignored my question.

After a bunch of email exchanges, that were totally obnoxious and honestly illogical and emails, they offered to replace my frames and asked me to provide them with a source. I provided them with three sources an indicated that I would appreciate it if they would act quickly and purchase them and asked for them to confirm the purchase. They reply in an email that the frames were purchased and they would immediately re-lens and ship upon arrival of the new frames. This, of course was a total lie!

More than two weeks later I received an email from them telling me, we found your glasses and what color would you like? Not only were they the wrong model, but they were plastic! I also sent them proof that they promised they had already purchased the frames I sourced for them.

I supplied them with another source for the frames, but tis time they refuse to purchase them. So we have what is known in legal circles as a breach of contract and bad faith, a tort.

I asked for my frames back and they said they probably did not have them, as they were most likely discarded.

Finally after speaking with the General Manager, he offered to return my glasses, but after taking him up on it, he refused! Beware of these people, they are liars.

This company is devoid of moral character and must be completely broke. They nickel and dime to no end. I am looking forward to embarrassing them in small claims court. I have a stack of ridiculous emails completely substantiating all of my claims here, they are so unreasonable it will be over in 5 minutes.

Now here's the kicker, it's going to be super expensive for these mental giants to show up in court. Their costs are going to be into the thousands for this, all over some frames that they agreed to replace in the first place. I'll post a copy of the judgement when I am done with these jokers. My favorite part of this process is going to be having Marc J Weinstein (Officer and CEO) personally served at an inconvenient venue for him. This is matter of principal, as he is a horrible person, who will not speak with customers.

I have read so many similar claims against these folks, it is about time someone took them to task.

Great glasses
August 2, 2017

Iv'e been buying my glasses for over 10 years from these guys and I am always happy. I wear progressive lenses which are sometimes a bit tricky to get used to. I had my glasses looked at by my optometrist and he said the prescription is spot on. Love these guys!

I sent in frames I purchased abroad to be re-lensed. 3 weeks after sending them in, I received an email saying they destroyed my frames. The company refused to pay for these hard to find frames and instead send me replacement ones. The replacements arrived and wouldn't sit evenly on my face because they were clearly very cheap and unevenly molded.

Needless to say I sent them back. Now the company has the audacity to not reimburse me for the original frames they destroyed. Their products are cheap and inferior and their customer service is horrible. I recommend you run far away from 39 dollar glasses.

My glasses came totally out of whack on the area around the bridge and shape of one lens. I found a link to their youtube video to see if it was possible for me to adjust the frames. After following their youtube video on adjusting frames, I noticed significant crazing/swirling on the lenses that caused glare issues. When I asked them what I should do, they first blamed me for using the method their very own website advises. I was then told to send the glasses back for replacement lenses. They came back ill-packed with dirty lenses, which happened to be the exact same lenses- with the exact same issues. These were $115 lenses on $39 frames, by the way (Anti-glare & reflective, with transitions).

This time I told customer service that my problem was not resolved and I would like a refund, so that I can afford a working pair of glasses (since my previous pair was broken in the first place). They told me that I am not eligible for a refund, even though I was in the refund period. Simply because I put faith in them and sent the glasses back to be fixed. Which, of course, they did not do. They asked me to send the glasses back to be fixed again, and that they would get them back to me with expedited shipping. This took a total of 3 more weeks. And... you guessed it. They are the same lenses. This time, they have been polished to the point that the glare problem is almost gone. Almost. That's the best they can do with their "Worry-Free Guarantee".

For what it's worth, I ordered a pair from one of the cheaper online glasses retailers and received two pairs of glasses for about $75. They showed up way faster. I had a less significant issue with the coating on one pair, and the other pair were great. The customer service at this company asked me to keep the pair with the issue as an extra (the frames were fine), and they started working on remaking my order. Wish I would have paid less the first time.

I have ordered six times from this company over the past several years for myself and my sons. It just doesn't make sense to order expensive optometrist-office glasses for young people, so I gave 39DollarGlasses a try. I was pleased the first time and every time since. They got prescriptions for both of my sons perfect, and they now order from there as adults! Glasses are often in my mailbox less than three days from the moment I order. My prescription was more complicated, and the glasses I ordered for myself were not quite right. I opted to return them under their 100% satisfaction guarantee. They did not question me, and provided a full refund to me without delay. I will continue to order from 39DollarGlasses in the future, as I am happy with their quality for the price and their service.

I purchased a pair of Oakley Chamfer 2 eyeglass frames for $107.35 and sent them to 39dollarglasses.com to have lenses fitted and installed. I placed the lens order for $54.90 and mailed them in USPS Priority Mail. I called 6 days later to check on the status and the representative said he they never received them. I checked the tracking and it was confirmed that they were received. The representative proceeded to look for them and finally they were located. This leads me to believe if I hadn't called to follow-up they would have never been processed.

I finally received the glasses back and inspected them upon arrival. I found three separate cracks in the upper right portion of the frames. This was from incorrect measurement and fitting of the lenses, causing the structural integrity to be compromised and crack.

I called 39dollarglasses.com on March 16,2016 to inform them of the situation. The initial representative, Venessa, explained to me that nothing could be done other then sending the lenses back and fitting them on one of there cheap frames. This would essentially leave me with a broken pair of Oakley frames that I spent over $100 on. She then explained that this was company policy and they weren't responsible for frames that they damaged. I asked to speak with a manager and David came on the phone. He basically gave me the same unreasonable answer with no resolve.

The business model this company has in place is unethical and simply should be illegal. You wouldn't bring your vehicle into a mechanic to have upgrades put on it only to have it returned in a damaged condition. The mechanic would be responsible for the damage as should this 39dollarglasses.com for the frames they broke.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ONLINE.

Ordered two pairs of glasses about half a year ago.

First, it was delayed because it didn't pass quality inspection. The first pair of glasses had the right prescription. However the left lens wasn't coated with that anti dust coating so dust kept sticking to it like a magnet. I let it go and didn't bother telling them about it. More recently, the coating is coming off and now it's looks like greasy lens except there's no grease and you can't wash it off. I've only used soap and water to wash them.

The second pair wasn't even the right prescription on one of the lens. Had to return it. They sent it back... exactly the same with the exact problem. I sent it back again. It returned with exactly the same issue. I'm convinced that they didn't bother doing anything at all with this pair, they just resent it back. Then they refuse to refund me for this pair. There was nothing I can do.

GREAT site!
February 7, 2011

GREAT site!

Unlike other sites that only have a couple of cheap frames, this site offers plenty of choices for only $39! Shipping is also reasonable for $4.95! They do have much more expensive frames such as flexible titanium to rimless glasses as well.
All you need is the information from your eye exam to input the correct information.

The glasses are made to order, ship fast, and are made in the USA!

Extremely happy with my purchase and the fact that I saved so much money!

I mainly wear contact and needed a cheap pair as a backup. Ordering from 39dollarglasses.com was super easy and I received my frames within a week. The frames are cheaply made Chinese products which I'm sure will not last very long for those wearing them regularly. I seldom put on my glasses so I don't mind too much and I REALLY like the $39+shipping price tag.
