Soundcloud is an excellent alternative to the more famous streaming services that provide music. At least it doesn't insert commercial breaks every second like Spotify, so you have to buy a Premium just to be able to listen to music. And also Soundcloud has a wide selection of various livesets of electronic music that you can't find anywhere but there. The quality of audio is not ideal, but it is fixed by premium subscription. But the free version works completely fine.
It's impossible to contact them about issues regarding subscriptions account errors etc They say they have customer service but their chat bot never gets back and their emails to subscribers are "no reply". Honestly it's all hype, cool sexy gig pictures and no real commitment or involvement with music creators who are struggling to be noticed and need all the help they can get. Put your tracks on YouTube instead!

There are so many issues with Soundcloud, and if you try to reach out to their support team, you will usually not get any response. If you are lucky enough to get a response, it will most definitely be completely devoid of assistance in any way, shape or form. If Soundcloud wants to become a competitor to other streaming services they need to listen to user feedback and fix the multitude of issues with their different platforms.
The support team, mainly "Jonas" have a very hard time at reading your replies to tickets. I was asked multiple times for an email and they'd actually reply to me giving the email asking for it again.
Overall their support team need more training as they're trained in all the wrong areas. They still fall victim to social engineering.
Tip for consumers:
Don't bother contacting their support for any kind of help.

I didn't purchase a product as SoundCloud is a website.
Soundcloud is an app and site with really good music but the service, connection, opperation, etc. SUCKS!
Tip for consumers:
Write down the songs you save before you frget them and cant get em back.

These terrible con-artists will basically spend their entire time trying to convince you Soundcloud pro is worth it, then make it nearly impossible to cancel their non-refundable $144 annual subscription. If it was so valuable why spend so much time and effort into hiding the cancellation and not notifying users of future bills they may not want. Soundcloud pro is a scam scam scam scam scam meant to take money from working artists only to provide useless information and a slurry of spam emails selling more useless crap from soundcloud.
Tip for consumers:
avoid soundcloud pro, it is impossible to cancel and there is no notification of billing, they just take money out of your account!!

Customer support needs serious work. I've been trying to get a simple change made (changing an artist name) for 257 days and still don't have a resolution. I've had to chase constantly and been assured multiple times it will be changed before finding out nothing has happened. Now they're saying they won't make the change until I re-subscribe and pay them more money. Incompetent vampires.
Tip for consumers:
There are many other distributors for up-and-coming artists. I personally recommend LANDR as a cheap alternative that I had a much better experience with.

I abandoned Soundcloud 4 years ago after they took my annual subscription money for PRO and then deleted my account without warning or refund. I recently tried to upload a private (unlisted) edit to show a client their first dance song for their wedding and it was taken down in minutes!
Tip for consumers:
Avoid!
Not user friendly or impressed by it! I've been using Pandora for a while and i see no difference give or take a few songs on both apps they all have same features i also used Soundcloud on my Serato dj and its a mission to download songs to your computer then to the dj set. The streaming part is okay but the history disappears I'll keep Pandora for now and just keep downloading songs from different sources for my dj set. One more thing canceling subscription was a mission to had to YouTube it that's bad!
Their top 50 use to be featuring the artists who reaches the most plays and gets the most notice but not anymore, I don't know who they've got deciding who gets to be in the top 50 and sponsored as well but it's definitely not a fair system based on who's deserving the attention the most. Their curators must be deaf or something or maybe they just don't really care that much about music.
Tip for consumers:
the worse you sound the more likely you are to be featured
This "solo" act Pegasus might have a better following if the "singer" wasn't such a rude $#*! and I've listened a very long time
Low value for artists with needing to pay to even monetise your music and with a max upload time of 180 minutes before paying, terribly low royalty rates per view, infested with bots/promo ad accounts, site works great for listeners on the functional end though. So it might not be worth using as an artist, I still use it but I only just about break even with over 500 monetised views a day on a channel. Best bet in my view is to mainly focus on distribution through DistroKid or something and YouTube manual uploading for more value. Yes I understand it's their website and they can chose to do what they want, but there has been a lot of bad decisions of late.
I have had support tickets in that have been unanswered for weeks. I am currently trying to switch to a new distributor and now have multiple tracks upload to my accounts because Soundcloud won't respond to my tickets.
Let's also not forget about the predatory theft of 20% of your royalties. I only used soundcloud because the barrier to entry was low and now I am realizing that have done this to steal ignorant musicians like myself royalties. 20%?!? This service is theft.
I would recommend this service to my worst enemy and thats it.
First they upload your music to some other artist's profile. Even when you tell it to create a new profile. Then you try to get in contact with support. Then you find that they have no live chat, no phone number, just a email ticketing system that is devoid of response. Some of the worst customer support I've seen besides maybe cash app or Amazon. Just avoid these guys at all cost and do not give them a dime of your hard earned money.
Tip for consumers:
Avoid it at all cost

They make you pay to have high quality music streaming. When you upload music on there, it completely ruins the audio, and they have no clue how to make a working copyright system. Every time I request for monetization on songs that I rightfully own, they get taken down until I email SoundCloud showing proof that I own the music. The only reason I would recommend this website is because it can be good for artists that are starting out. Other than that this platform sucks
Tip for consumers:
Don't use it

I've mistyped my artist name while distributing my first release... big mistake, as there is no one replying to my e-mails. No one is acknowledging anything I say. I've been submitting tickets that no one reacts to. Then I decided to e-mail them and the automated response says "the best way to reach us is through the ticket system". Like ok wtf. It's so frustrating when all you receive is silence!
I'm totally leaving soundcloud and will never pay again for their $#*!ty services. Also their masterisation algorithms are quite crappy. I wish soundcloud was a real person who I could annoy back.
I've started my official music career with the wrong name and now I can't change it. Really not a great beginning lol.
Anyway, If you wanna release music to other platforms, it's probably best to use a distributor that is responsive. Just in case you need something changed.
We like sound... We recently became a members to get more fans... At first I was skeptical but it does pay off. However, what I don't like about soundcloud is that you have these fact promoters acting like they can generate you a hug following. Which we will tell you right now... Just ignore them and keep posting your music. Because the real promoters will promote your music dye to the fact that they genuinely enjoy your music!
SoundCloud is just a stepping stone for an artist to get way better at their song craft and move on to bigger platforms when your music is ready and you catch the ears of the bigger music people that pick high quality studio music not that stuff that sounds like bad karaoke your making in a bedroom. Also artists get caught up in bad mouthing each others work on SoundCloud as that will not make your music better as it just makes the artists look bad and need to grow a lot to have really music makers give them a chance with their music.
I used to be an avid user of SoundCloud. It was nice getting to listen to more low-key music on there but it's just out of date when it comes to Spotify. Spotify's streaming services are entirely smoother and their algorithms on their radios/stations have added so much more music to my playlists.
Soundcloud also froze my account about a week ago for unforeseen reasons which was the cherry on top for me. It was a nice trip SoundCloud.
****FRAUD SERVICE OF NOTE**** I have been trying get access to my account and ut wont let me. Even if I use my HTTP link as it suggests. No support service, just a watered down version of advise and robotics used to fool the unsuspecting customer. They have been debiting my account for months and I cant even cancel my subscription as they wont allow me access to my account. I am so disgusted as an artist at these scammers. I don't even get a statement of purchase for all the debits that they have been doing!
I used to like soundcloud but the fact that they added ADS is so ridiculous. It was free so all these years then all of a sudden we just HAD to get ads. I'm not paying to listen to remixes and remakes to songs Im just fricken not lol you already have the up to date songs on a 30 second time limit soooo I have to pay to listen to full songs AND not have ads? Get out of here. I will pay for something better like Spotify. Seriously.
How is possible to ban and stop my upload when I own my music, my right and I have to prove that I'm real me. Ridiculous ridiculous ridiculous ridiculous
Tip for consumers:
There are blocking my music, my own music...produced by me and I own the rights of the song.

Considering that I have tons of music apps it is very difficult to write this review when I keep comparing it with the others. I really like it but sometimes I wish it would come up with some favs suggestions like pandora even though pandora doesn't let you find your own which is a big minus from soundccloud.
Does anyone listen to soundcloud anymore, since they got rid of the dashboard function where you could listen to new trax by friend artists it seems a bit pointless.if anybody knows how you can listen to new trax from friends please enlighten me
- Follow over 1K artists and like the platform itself
- Customer service is non-existent
- No one to talk too
- Stream feature(most important) is broken
Tip for consumers:
Spotify - but its not as good for finding "underground" music
